Objective: oral sedation is the simplest and most convenient sedation method for managing uncooperative child patients because it is easy to administer and there is no need for nasal hood or injection. Oral midazolam is the most commonly used preanesthetic medication for children. When given in amounts between 0.5 and 0.75 mg/kg of body weight, oral midazolam has been found to be an effective sedative agent for pediatric outpatients. Tramadol is a synthetic, centrally acting analgesic indicated for moderate to severe pain. Chloral hydrate is one of the sedatives most commonly used, has excellent absorption, fast induction, and exert minimal effects on respiration zolpidem is the most commonly prescribed hypnotic due to its clinical efficacy, safety, and ability to be well tolerated with patients. Materials and Methods: 60 anxious and fearful children who reported to the department were treated under conscious sedation for the accomplishment of dental treatment. Patients were randomly assigned to four groups. Statistical analysis was done using Kruskal Wallis Test and decision criterion was to reject the null hypothesis if the P-value is less than 0.05. Results: it was observed that there is a statistically significant difference in median scores recorded for the level of sedation between the different groups (P < 0.001). Conclusion: this study concluded that midazolam is the best drug for producing conscious sedation followed by tramadol and triclofos. Summary. A study was carried out to compare the effectiveness of two doses of temazepam elixir for the behaviour management of paediatric dental patients. Twenty-two children aged 2-5 years (mean 406 years), classified as ASA Class I and II (American Society of Anesthesiologists Classification), were assigned to receive either 0.3 or 0.5 mg/kg temazepam elixir in a double-blind randomized cross-over study. All treatment sessions were videotaped and rated independently by three paediatric dentists for the degree of crying, movement, sleep and overall behaviour at 15-minute intervals while being treated. The results showed no statistically significant differences between the two doses. Résumé. Comparaison clinique de la sédation par deux dosages différents de Temazepam oral pour soins dentaires chez des enfants L'étude a porté l'efficacité de deux dosages d'une solution de Temazepam pour les soins dentaires d'enfants ayant des problèmes de comportement. Vingt-deux enfants âgés de 2 à 5 ans (âge moyen 4.06 ans), classés dans les classes 1 et 2 Asa (classification de la Société Américaine des Anesthésiologistes), ont reçu, dans une étude en double aveugle, une solution dosée à 0.3 ou 0.5 mg/kg de Temazepam. Les séances de traitement ont été enregistrées sur video-cassettes et notées par trois opérateurs indépendants pour les pleurs, les mouvements, l'endormissement et le comportement général à intervalles de 30 minutes pendant le traitement. Un total de 22 niños de 2 a 5 años de edad (media 406 años) clasificados como ASA Clase I y II (clasificación de la American Society of Anesthesiologists) fueron asignados para recibir 0.3 ó 0.5 mg/kg del elixir de temazepam en un estudio randomizado dobleciego y cruzado. Todas las sesiones de tratamiento fueron grabadas en video y evaluadas independientemente por tres odontopediátras para el grado de lloro, movimiento dormitación y comportamiento en general cada 30 minutos durante el tratamiento.
