A simple sol-gel combustion process was employed for the creation of MFe 2 O 4 (M=Ni, Co) nanoparticles. The synthesized nanoparticles, acting as both photocatalysts and gas sensors, were analyzed using various analytical techniques. MFe 2 O 4 (M=Ni, Co) material improved the degradation of methylene blue (MB) under UV-light irradiation, serving as an enhanced electron transport medium. UV-vis studies demonstrated that NiFe 2 O 4 achieved a 60% degradation, while CoFe 2 O 4 nanostructure exhibited a 76% degradation efficacy in the MB dye removal process. Furthermore, MFe 2 O 4 (M=Ni, Co) demonstrated chemosensitive-type sensor capabilities at ambient temperature. The sensor response and recovery times for CoFe 2 O 4 at a concentration of 100 ppm were 15 and 20, respectively. Overall, the synthesis of MFe 2 O 4 (M=Ni, Co) holds the potential to significantly improve the photocatalytic and gas sensing properties, particularly enhancing the performance of CoFe 2 O 4 . SrTiO 3 /Ag nanocomposites were synthesized using a facile wet impregnation method, employing rigorous experimental techniques for comprehensive characterization. XRD, FTIR, UV, PL, FESEM, and HRTEM were meticulously utilized to elucidate their structural, functional, morphological, and optical properties. The electrochemical performance of the SrTiO 3 /Ag nanocomposite was rigorously assessed, revealing an impressive specific capacitance of 850 F/g at a current density of 1 A. Furthermore, the photocatalytic activity of the SrTiO 3 /Ag nanocomposite was rigorously examined using methylene blue (MB) dye, and the results were outstanding. After 120 min of UV irradiation, the nanocomposite exhibited an exceptional MB dye degradation efficiency exceeding 88%. The SrTiO 3 /Ag nanocomposite represents an exemplary catalyst in terms of efficiency, cost-effectiveness, environmental compatibility, and reusability. The electron and superoxide radicals play a chief role in the MB dye degradation process. Background: Soil-transmitted helminths (STH) affect approximately 1.5 billion people globally. The current STH control strategy is annual or twice-annual preventive chemotherapy, typically school-based deworming targeting children and women of reproductive age. Mathematical modeling suggests that it may be possible to interrupt STH transmission through high-coverage community-wide mass drug administration (cMDA). DeWorm3 is a cluster randomized trial testing cMDA for prevalence reduction and transmission interruption. The purpose of this study is to describe coverage of cMDA in study clusters over time and correlates of coverage at individual and cluster levels., Methods: From 2018-2020, DeWorm3 delivered six rounds of cMDA with 400 mg albendazole at sites in Benin, India, and Malawi. We report coverage, treatment uptake, and directly observed therapy across all rounds. Factors associated with coverage at the cluster level were identified using binomial generalized estimating equations, while factors associated with non-treatment at the individual level were identified using binomial mixed-effects models., Results: Coverage was high across all clusters and rounds, exceeding the WHO target of 75% in all sites and across all rounds (78% to 95%); cluster-level coverage tended to increase over time. Younger, unmarried, and migratory adults were more likely to be untreated at all sites; adult males were more likely to be untreated in Benin and Malawi. Among children, girls were more likely to be untreated, as were non-school-attending and migratory children. Higher adult education was associated with greater odds of non-treatment among adults, but lower odds among children in the household. Belonging to a less wealthy or minority language-speaking household was associated with non-treatment among both adults and children., Conclusions: It is possible to deliver community-wide MDA with high coverage. Herein, it is demonstrated that 0D/2D design of zinc sulfide quantum dots encapsulated with yttrium tungstate nanosheets, which were subsequently used to increase the removal of brilliant blue (BB), methyl red (MR) dyes and doxycycline drug using UV-visible light. The produced ZnS-Y 2 WO 6 nanohybrids exhibited excellent catalytic activity, reaching degradation efficiencies of around 89.92%, 80% and 85.51 % for BB, MR dyes and doxycycline drug, respectively, with a minimum irradiation duration of 120, 60 and 125 min. These nanohybrids outperformed Y 2 WO 6 in terms of photocatalytic efficacy due to enhanced light absorption, efficient charge transfer, and decreased charge carrier recombination between ZnS and Y 2 WO 6 nanoparticles. The synergistic combination of ZnS and Y 2 WO 6 nanoparticles resulted in multiple active sites on the composite surface. Furthermore, the ZnS-Y 2 WO 6 nanohybrids maintained excellent degradation efficiencies of 79.45% and 70.12% for BB and MR dyes, respectively, even after five consecutive cycles, with no significant loss of catalytic activity. The produced ZnS-Y 2 WO 6 nanohybrids were thoroughly analyzed utilizing a variety of analytical methods. Developing lightweight, highly active surfaces with a high level of performance and great stability is crucial for ensuring the dependability of energy harvesting and conversion devices. Aerogel-based electrocatalysts are an efficient option for electrocatalytic hydrogen production because of their numerous benefits, such as their compatibility with interface engineering and their porous architecture. Herein, we report on the facile synthesis of a nanorod-like molybdenum sulfide-reduced graphene oxide (M-rG) aerogel as an electrocatalyst for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). The 3D architecture of the network-like structure of the M-rG hybrid aerogel was created via the hydrothermal technique, using a saturated NaCl solution-assisted process, where the MoS 2 was homogeneously incorporated within the interconnected rGO aerogel. The optimized M-rG-300 aerogel electrocatalyst had a significantly decreased overpotential of 112 mV at 10 mA/cm 2 for the HER in alkaline conditions. The M-rG-300 also showed a higher level of reliability. The remarkable efficiency of the HER involving the M-rG-300 is principally attributed to the excellent connectivity between the rGO and MoS 2 in the aerogel structure. The efficient interconnection influenced the achievement of a larger electrochemically active surface area, increased electrical conductivity, and the exposure of more active sites for the HER. Furthermore, the creation of a synergistic effect in the M-rG-300 aerogel is the most probable mechanism to boost the electrocatalytic activity.

The development of environmentally friendly technology is vital to effectively address the issues related to environmental deterioration. This work integrates ZnO-decorated MoS 2 (MZ) to create a high-performing PVDF-based PVDF/MoS 2 -ZnO (PMZ) hybrid polymer composite film for sonocatalytic organic pollutant degradation. An efficient synergistic combination of MZ was identified by altering the ratio, and its influence on PVDF was assessed using diverse structural, morphological, and sonocatalytic performances. The PMZ film demonstrated very effective sonocatalytic characteristics by degrading rhodamine B (RhB) dye with a degradation efficiency of 97.23%, whereas PVDF only degraded 17.7%. Combining MoS 2 and ZnO reduces electron-hole recombination and increases the sonocatalytic degradation performance. Moreover, an ideal piezoelectric PVDF polymer with MZ enhances polarization to improve redox processes and dye degradation, ultimately increasing the degradation efficiency. The degradation efficiency of RhB was seen to decrease while employing isopropanol (IPA) and p-benzoquinone (BQ) due to the presence of reactive oxygen species. This suggests that the active species •O 2 - and •OH are primarily responsible for the degradation of RhB utilizing PMZ2 film. The PMZ film exhibited improved reusability without substantially decreasing its catalytic activity. The superior embellishment of ZnO onto MoS 2 and effective integration of MZ into the PVDF polymer film results in improved degrading performance.

A metal-free combination of rGO/g-C 3 N 4 -coupled SrTiO 3 (SRN) ternary nanocomposite prepared via a wet impregnation method for UV-Vis light photocatalytic applications. Various physicochemical properties of the samples were investigated by several spectroscopic techniques including X-ray diffraction (XRD), FT-IR, Raman, field emission scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (FE-SEM-EDX), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), UV-Vis, photoluminescence (PL), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area analysis. The data suggest agglomerated SRT nanoparticles are dispersed and distributed throughout the surface of the rGO sheets and GCN nanostructures. The photocatalytic performance of the SRN towards combined mixed dye and its degradation activities were evaluated towards the most common industrial effluents, Rhodamine B (RhB) and Methylene blue (MB), under UV-Vis light illumination. The results revealed that the degradation efficiency of the SRN photocatalyst shows excellent performance compared with that of the binary composition and the pure SrTiO 3 (SRT) sample. The reaction rate constant for RhB was estimated to be 0.0039 min -1 and for MB to be 0.0316 min -1 , which are 3.26 (RhB) and 4.21 (MB) times faster than the pure SRT sample. The enhanced degradation efficiency was attained not only by interfacial formation but also by the speedy transportation of electrons across the heterojunction. After 5 runs of the photocatalytic recylic process, the SRN photocatalyst exhibited ultimate stability without structural changes, and no noticeable degradation was observed. The outcomes of the ternary SRN nanocomposite manifest a dual photocatalytic scheme, the photocatalytic enrichment could be caused by the Z-scheme charge transfer process between GCN, SRT, and rGO nanocomposite, which helps effectual charge separation and keeps a high redox potential. The enhanced photocatalytic process of GMNT NCs was achieved by wet impregnation. The resulting sample was examined using numerous analytical techniques to determine its composition, morphology, structure, and optical properties. GMNT photocatalyst showed impressive photocatalytic degradation efficiency (91.75%) over RhB dye in 100 min, when exposed by visible illumination. The photoreaction rate constant of GMNT ternary PCs (0.0233 min−1) was 6.2 times faster than bare GCN (0.0037 min−1), GMS (0.0055 min−1), and GCNT (0.0124 min−1) against RhB dye. Besides, they have considerable stability against RhB dye degradation after five cycles. A trapping experiment with a variety of scavengers also reveals that photogenerated charge carriers hole pair and ⋅O2− radicals play a prominent role in the photodegradation process. GMNT nanocomposite has been shown to enhance photocatalytic performance by suppressing e−–h+ pair separation and recombination efficiency. Novel flake-like Ni 1-x Sn x O 2 particles were successfully prepared by template-free hydrothermal synthesis. The prepared samples were investigated for their properties by different characterization techniques. Scanning micrographs showed that the obtained particles consisted of nanoflakes. The X-ray diffraction results of the Ni 1-x Sn x O 2 revealed the formation of mixed-phase Ni/SnO 2 having the typical tetragonal structure of SnO 2, and the cubic structure of Ni in a nanocrystalline nature. The doping with Ni had a certain influence on the host's lattice structure of SnO 2 at different doping concentrations. Confirmation of the functional groups and the elements in the nanomaterials was accomplished using FTIR and EDS analyses. The electrochemical performance analysis of the prepared nanomaterials were carried out with the help of the CV, GCD, and EIS techniques. The specific capacitance of the synthesized nanomaterials with different concentrations of Ni dopant in SnO 2 was analyzed at different scanning rates. Interestingly, a 5% Ni-doped SnO 2 nanocomposite exhibited a maximum specific capacitance of 841.85 F g -1 at 5 mV s -1 in a 6 M KOH electrolyte. Further, to boost the electrochemical performance, a redox additive electrolyte was utilized, which exhibited a maximum specific capacitance of 2130.33 at 5 mV s -1 and an excellent capacitance retention of 93.22% after 10,000 GCD cycles. These excellent electrochemical characteristics suggest that the Ni/SnO 2 nanocomposite could be utilized as an electrode material for high-performance supercapacitors.

Lumpy skin disease (LSD) caused by LSD virus is a WOAH notifiable, high-impact, transboundary poxviral disease of bovines. The first official report of LSDV in India is from Odisha state during August 2019. Since then, cases have been reported from many states including Tamil Nadu, a Southern state of India. The present study deals with isolation and molecular characterization of LSDV from Tamil Nadu during the period August 2020 to July 2022. LSDV was isolated in embryonated chicken eggs (ECE) and BHK 21 cells and was characterized based on P32, RPO30, and GPCR genes. The phylogenetic analysis revealed that Tamil Nadu isolates from India are closely related to other Indian strains, Kenyan strains and strains from neighboring countries such as Bangladesh, Nepal, and Myanmar confirming the common exotic source for the transboundary spread across borders. The presence of unique signature of amino acid (aa) at specific positions (A11, T12, T34, S99, and P199) in the GPCR sequence confirmed the identity of LSDV. A twelve nucleotide (nt 94-105 ) insertion and corresponding aa (TILS) at 30-33 position was found in GPCR sequence and characteristic amino acid proline at 98 position (P98) in the RPO30 gene sequence of our isolates was similar to strains from Bangladesh, Nepal, and Myanmar. The study aims to understand the traditional healthcare management of the newborns of the Parengi Porja tribe. The Parengi Porja tribe is a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) that inhabits the Eastern Ghats, which is a continuous high hilly region of Visakhapatnam district, Andhra Pradesh, India. The members of this tribe strongly believe that the earliest weeks of a newborn's life is the time for the greatest probability of death and disability. To avoid these misfortunes, they strictly follow the traditional healthcare regimen for newborns, which has significant socio-cultural importance. For this study, 105 neonates were purposively selected, and their mothers were interviewed for data collection. The research data were analysed by qualitative methods that included participant observation, in-depth interviews and focus group discussion. The collected data were repeatedly cross-checked with other elderly female members like grandmothers, and sutranimaizi (traditional birth attendant [TBA]) through interviews to strengthen the efficiency and authenticity of the data. The findings of the study show that this tribal population has its understanding of the management of neonatal health, which is socio-culturally ingrained, sanctioned and transmitted through generations. Herein, the MMn2O4 and MMn2O4/rGO (M = Ni, Co) samples were synthesized using co-precipitation and wet impregnation methods. XRD analysis showed the high purity and good crystallinity of the synthesized powders. FESEM analysis revealed the formation of pyramid-like structures and a good intimate mixture with rGO in the nanocomposite samples. Gas sensors were fabricated with pure and nanocomposite structures for the sensing of ammonia gas. The CoMn2O4/rGO nanocomposite sample achieved a higher sensitivity (S = 3.5) with shorter response/recovery (140 s/83 s) behavior in room temperature at 100 ppm of NH3. The stability and selectivity of the CoMn2O4/rGO nanocomposite gas sensor were examined. The preferable sensing mechanism of CoMn2O4/rGO nanocomposite towards the detection of NH3 was discussed. Researchers have become increasingly interested in solar energy based on semiconductor photocatalysts to remove hazardous pollutants and clean the environment. In this work, an efficient MoS 2 -Bi 2 Te 3 -V 2 O 5 nanocomposite has been prepared through wet impregnation method. MoS 2 -Bi 2 Te 3 -V 2 O 5 photocatalyst was utilized to decompose the MB and Rh B dyes. The photocatalytic efficiency (Rh B) of MoS 2 -Bi 2 Te 3 -V 2 O 5 nanocomposite (95.19 %) was higher than 2.70 times of Bi 2 Te 3 nanorods, 1.55 times of V 2 O 5 nanoparticles, 1.68 times of MoS 2 nanosheets, 1.50 times of MoS 2 -Bi 2 Te 3, and 1.21 times of MoS 2 -V 2 O 5 nanocomposite, respectively. Recycling tests conducted on the MoS 2 -Bi 2 Te 3 -V 2 O 5 nanocomposite revealed its high stability and durability. The outcomes obtained from the scavenger test suggest that the photogenerated hydroxyl radicals play a chief role in the photocatalytic performance of Rh B dye in the MoS 2 -Bi 2 Te 3 -V 2 O 5 nanocomposite, respectively. The enhanced photocatalytic performance of the MoS 2 -Bi 2 Te 3 -V 2 O 5 nanocomposite is ascribed to the strong hybrid formation of Bi 2 Te 3 , V 2 O 5 , and MoS 2 nanosheets, respectively. A simple wet impregnation method has been proposed to prepare highly efficient different weight percentage (25:75, 50:50, and 75:25) of g-C3N4–ZnO nanocomposites. The morphology, chemical composition, structure, functional group, and optical properties of the prepared samples were examined through FESEM, HRTEM, EDAX, XRD, FTIR, UV, and PL techniques. The photocatalytic performance of 75 wt% g-C3N4–25 wt% ZnO nanocomposite exhibited higher photocatalytic activity as compared to other samples. The scavenger test was showed to study the role of different radicals in degrading the dye pollutants. The prime aim of this research is to discover new, eco-friendly approaches to reducing agents for manufacturing silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) from fresh fruiting bodies of the edible mushroom Hypsizygus ulmarius (Hu). The confirmation of Hu-mediated AgNPs has been characterized by UV visible spectroscopy, XRD, FTIR, SEM with EDX, HRTEM, AFM, PSA, Zeta poetical and GCMS analysis. The absorption peak of Hu-AgNPs at 430 nm has been confirmed by UV-visible spectroscopy analysis. The findings of the particle size study show that AgNPs have a size distribution with an average of 20 nm. The Zeta potential of NPs reveals a significant build-up of negative charges on their surface. The additional hydrate layers that occurred at the surface of AgNPs are shown in the HR-TEM morphology images. The antibacterial activity results showed that Hu-AgNPs were highly effective against both bacterial pathogens, with gram-positive (+) and gram-negative (-) pathogens having a moderate inhibition effect on K. pneumoniae (5.3 ± 0.3 mm), E. coli (5.3 ± 0.1), and S. aureus (5.2 ± 0.3 mm). Hu-AgNPs (IC 50 of 50.78 μg/mL) were found to have dose-dependent cytotoxic action against human lung cancer cell lines (A549). Inhibited cell viability by up to 64.31% after 24 h of treatment. The domains of environmental cleanup and pathogen inactivation are particularly interesting in nanocomposites (NCs) due to their exceptional physicochemical properties. Tin oxide/reduced graphene oxide nanocomposites (SnO 2 /rGO NCs) have potential uses in the biological and environmental fields, but little is known about them. This study aimed to investigate the photocatalytic activity and antibacterial efficiency of the nanocomposites. The co-precipitation technique was used to prepare all the samples. XRD, SEM, EDS, TEM, and XPS analyses were employed to characterize the physicochemical properties of SnO 2 /rGO NCs for structural analysis. The rGO loading sample resulted in a decrease in the crystallite size of SnO 2 nanoparticles. TEM and SEM images demonstrate the firm adherence of SnO 2 nanoparticles to the rGO sheets. The chemical state and elemental composition of the nanocomposites were validated by the XPS and EDS data. Additionally, the visible-light active photocatalytic and antibacterial capabilities of the synthesized nanocomposites were assessed for the degradation of Orange II and methylene blue, as well as the suppression of the growth of S. aureus and E. coli. We report on the synthesis of silver oxide/reduced graphene oxide nanocomposites (Ag/rGO NCs) using a hydrothermal technique. This paper presents a simple method for synthesizing Ag/rGO hybrid nanocomposites, which can be used for environmentally treating hazardous organic pollutants. The photocatalytic degradation of model artificial Rhodamine B dye and bisphenol A was assessed under visible light illumination. The crystallinity, binding energy, and surface morphologies of the synthesized samples were determined. The silver oxide loading sample resulted in a decrease in the rGO crystallite size. SEM and TEM images demonstrate strong adhesion of the Ag NPs to the rGO sheets. XPS analysis validated the binding energy and elemental composition of the Ag/rGO hybrid nanocomposites. The objective of the experiment was to enhance the photocatalytic efficiency of rGO in the visible region using Ag nanoparticles. The synthesized nanocomposites in the visible region exhibited good photodegradation percentages of approximately 97.5% and 98.6% after 120 min of irradiation for pure rGO, Ag NPs, and Ag/rGO nanohybrid, respectively. Furthermore, the Ag/rGO nanohybrid maintained their degradation ability for up to three cycles. The synthesized Ag/rGO nanohybrid demonstrated enhanced photocatalytic activity, expanding their potential for environmental remediation. Chitosan (CS), a promising potential biopolymer with exquisite biocompatibility, economic viability, hydrophilicity, and chemical modifications, has drawn interest as an alternative material for proton exchange membrane (PEM) fabrication. However, CS in its original form exhibited low proton conductivity and mechanical stability, restricting its usage in PEM development. In this work, chitosan was functionalized (sulfonic acid (-SO 3 H) groups)) to enhance proton conductivity. The sulfonated chitosan (sCS) was blended with polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) polymer, along with the incorporation of functionalized SiO 2 (-OH groups), for fabricating chitosan-based composite proton exchange membranes to enhance microbial fuel cell (MFC) performances. The results show that adding functionalized inorganic fillers (fSiO 2 ) into the membrane enhances the mechanical, thermal, and anti-biofouling behavior. From the results, the PVDF/sCS/fSiO 2 composite membrane exhibited enhanced proton conductivity 1.0644 × 10 -2 S cm -1 at room temperature and increased IEC and mechanical and chemical stability. Furthermore, this study presents a revolutionary way to generate environmentally friendly natural polymer-based membrane materials for developing PEM candidates for enhanced MFC performances in generating bioelectricity and wastewater treatment.

In this study, we utilized calcination and simple impregnation methods to successfully fabricate bare g-C 3 N 4 (GCN) and x% Ag/g-C 3 N 4 (x% AgGCN) composite photocatalysts with various weight percentages (x = 1, 3, 5, and 7 wt.%). The synthesized bare and composite photocatalysts were analyzed to illustrate their phase formation, functional group, morphology, and optical properties utilizing XRD, FT-IR, UV-Vis DRS, PL, FE-SEM, and the EDS. The photodegradation rate of MO under solar light irradiation was measured, and the 5% AgGCN composite photocatalyst showed higher photocatalytic activity (99%), which is very high compared to other bare and composite photocatalysts. The MO dye degradation rate constant with the 5% AgGCN photocatalyst exhibits 14.83 times better photocatalytic activity compared to the bare GCN catalyst. This photocatalyst showed good efficiency in the degradation of MO dye and demonstrated cycling stability even in the 5th successive photocatalytic reaction cycle. The higher photocatalytic activity of the 5% AgGCN composite catalyst for the degradation of MO dye is due to the interaction of Ag with GCN and the localized surface plasmon resonance (SPR) effect of Ag. The scavenger study results indicate that O 2 ●- radicals play a major role in MO dye degradation. A possible charge-transfer mechanism is proposed to explain the solar-light-driven photocatalyst of GCN.
