Taking seriously the critical conception of diplomacy as the mediation of estrangement, Diplomatic Para-citations turns to the politics and laws that tie modern diplomacy to colonial cultures and the ‘genres of Man'that they privilege. In an attempt to read ‘the diplomatic'from the African postcolony, the book probes the injunction at the center of the law of genre that states that “genres are not to be mixed.” This enables it to investigate the citational/recitational forms of knowledge and practices of recognition that reproduce the diplomatic and colonial order of things in the African context. Through a reading of literature, philosophy, and a multiplicity of everyday practices in Africa and its diasporas, Sam Okoth Opondo explores amateur diplomatic practices that provide a counterforce to laws that prescribe faithfulness to a norm/form while proscribing the mixing of genres.

Das Ziel der vorliegenden Untersuchung bestand in der Überprüfung der beiden Abweichungstheorien der differenziellen Assoziation sowie der sekundären Devianz anhand der drei'Documentaries'der Chicago-Soziologie zu kriminellen Karrieren von Heranwachsenden hinsichtlich ihrer Stärken und Schwächen. Zudem wurden die autobiographischen Falldarstellungen selber auf ihre Textvalidität und ihre empirische Operationalisierbarkeit und empirisch-theoretische Validität hin analysiert und eingeschätzt.

Germans to America provides both genealogists and researchers of family history with the first extensive, indexed source of German-surname immigrants who came to all ports in the United States between 1850 and 1893. This period witnessed one of the highest rates of German emigration in the nineteenth century. The series reproduces information from the original ship manifest schedules, or passenger lists, filed by all vessels entering U.S. ports. All volumes are arranged in chronological order by each ship's date of arrival. For every passenger list, the following information is provided: ship name, port of departure, port of arrival, date of arrival, and list of German-surname passengers. Ships that departed from German ports or carried passengers who declared themselves to be of German origin are included, with full name, age, sex, occupation, and, when this information is given, country, province or village of origin provided for each emigrant. One of the most important features of this series is the complete index of names at the end of every volume, making it easy to find a particular individual or family name.
