Background Gastrointestinal symptoms in gastric cancer patients treated with postoperative chemotherapy are diverse and interconnected, without effective intervention targets. In recent years, network analysis has emerged as a prominent approach to identify intervention targets. Objective To construct a network of gastrointestinal symptoms in gastric cancer patients treated with postoperative chemotherapy, identify core symptoms and analyze the factors influencing core symptoms, so as to provide a reference for precise symptom management. Methods Postoperative chemotherapy patients with gastric cancer were selected in the medical oncology and surgical oncology department of four tertiary A-level Chinese medicine hospitals (Jiangsu Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Suzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Wuxi Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Xuzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine) in South, Central, and North of Jiangsu Province, from March to December 2022 via convenience sampling method, as the study subjects. The MD Anderson Symptom Inventory Gastrointestinal Cancer (MDASI-GI) was used for evaluating gastrointestinal symptoms and their severity among patients receiving postoperative chemotherapy for gastric cancer, as well as assessing the classification of traditional Chinese medicine constitution among patients. The network of gastrointestinal symptoms was constructed using an R package to identify the centrality indexes. The univariate analysis and multiple linear regression analysis were conducted to investigate factors influencing core gastrointestinal symptoms in patients undergoing postoperative chemotherapy for gastric cancer. Results A total of 362 electronic questionnaires were collected, 355 were valid, with a valid recovery rate of 98.1%. The highest incidence of gastrointestinal symptoms in patients with postoperative chemotherapy for gastric cancer was lack of appetite (83.1%), taste alteration (81.7%) and nausea (71.0%), and the top three in terms of severity were lack of appetite (2.77 points), taste alteration (2.50 points) and nausea (2.27 points). Network analysis showed that taste alteration had the highest intensity (rS=1.27) and the highest tight centrality (rC=1.50) ; vomiting had the highest betweenness centrality (rB=1.76). The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that gender (B=0.809, 95%CI=0.319-1.298), smoking history (B=0.706, 95%CI=0.185-1.228) and phlegm-damp constitution (B=1.703, 95%CI=0.538-2.868) were the factors influencing the severity of taste alteration symptoms in patients with gastric cancer after chemotherapy (P

Road traffic transportation has flourished in the process of urbanization due to its advantages, but concurrently it generates harmful environmental vibrations. This vibration issue becomes particularly crucial in production workshops housing precision instruments. However, limited research has been undertaken on this matter. This study aimed to investigate the influence of road traffic-induced vibration on micro-vibrations within a workshop housing precision instruments. A field test was conducted to assess the vibration levels originating from both machinery operation and vehicular traffic. The results indicated that ground-borne vibrations caused by road vehicles decrease with increasing propagation distance, peaking around 10 Hz. Machinery operation vibrations were primarily concentrated above 20 Hz, while vehicular traffic vibrations were more prominent below 20 Hz. Notably, the passage of heavy trucks significantly impacted both ground and workshop vibrations, with vertical vibrations being particularly significant. Within the workshop, the second floor experienced higher vibrations above 20 Hz due to the presence of installed instruments. Importantly, the micro-vibration levels on both floors exceeded the VC-C limit (12.5 µm/s), highlighting the need to account for road traffic and machinery vibrations in workshop design. Excessive pesticide application in greenhouses leads to elevated levels of pesticide residues, especially in cold seasons, thereby posing a potential dietary exposure risk to the residents' health. This study aimed to investigate 65 pesticides in 469 leafy vegetable samples collected from greenhouses in Liaoning province between October 2018 and May 2020. Overall, the pesticide levels in 96.4% (452/469) of the samples were below the MRLs established by the Codex Alimentarius Commission. The detection rate of 65 pesticides ranged from 0.2% to 11.9%. Multiple pesticide contamination was common, with dimethomorph being the most recurrent contaminant. The dietary risk assessment study revealed obvious differences in chronic and acute exposure risk values. The chronic risk quotients (RQcs) for leafy vegetable samples were 0.001%–3.993%, indicating an acceptable public health risk for the residents. As two leafy vegetables highly consumed in cold seasons in northeast China, the acute risk quotients (RQas) of Chinese cabbage samples were significantly lower than 100%; however, pakchoi samples exhibited RQa values ranging from 0.159% to 580.529%, showing an unacceptable acute dietary risk. This highlights that, compared to the chronic dietary risks, the potential acute dietary risks induced by the pesticides are higher in greenhouse-grown leafy vegetables during cold seasons. In this study, we examine the dewaterability of sludge after treatment by KMnO4 at various pH levels, with the goal of understanding the dewaterability of strong oxidizers to waste activated sludge. Good dewatering performance is observed, with capillary suction times (CST) reduced from 263.4 to 30.1 s, and specific resistance to filtration (SRF) falling by 19.6%. Proteins and polysaccharides in tightly bound extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) were also significantly reduced. Based on spectroscopic and electrochemical analysis, we propose mechanisms for the improved dewatering in terms of changes to the sludge's physicochemical properties and EPS. Under strong oxidation, the structure surrounding the bound water is oxidized and bound water is released, so the dewaterability of the sludge is improved. In recent years, lead poisoning has received increasing attention as lead production continues to grow and the industry shifts the most polluting processes (e.g., smelting ore and recycling batteries) to low- and middle-income countries. The hazards associated with lead exposures have been well known for centuries while the industry actively promoted lead products. Less well known is how the industry continues to promote the "safe and responsible" use of lead and support research to question the underlying science and avoid regulation. Here I explore the historical context for recent actions that the industry has taken to ensure its longevity. Lead industry associations continue to employ some of the same themes that have proven successful in the past. Efforts to forestall regulatory initiatives to reduce emissions and restrict lead applications continue. Large battery manufacturers and recyclers and their associations place blame on informal-sector recycling to draw focus away from their own emissions. They have sought the cooperation of hired scientific experts and have funded United Nations organizations and nongovernmental organizations to deflect attention from their own contributions to global lead poisoning. With the deployment of the 5G cellular system, the upsurge of diverse mobile applications and devices has increased the potential challenges and threats posed to users. Industry and academia have attempted to address cyber security challenges by implementing automated malware detection and machine learning algorithms. This study expands on previous research on machine learning-based mobile malware detection. We critically evaluate 154 selected articles and highlight their strengths and weaknesses as well as potential improvements. We explore the mobile malware detection techniques used in recent studies based on attack intentions, such as server, network, client software, client hardware, and user. In contrast to other SLR studies, our study classified the means of attack as supervised and unsupervised learning. Therefore, this article aims at providing researchers with in-depth knowledge in the field and identifying potential future research and a framework for a thorough evaluation. Objective: Recently, long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and microRNAs (miRNAs) have been identified as essential biomarkers during development of malignancies. This study was performed to study the roles of lncRNA opa-interacting protein 5 antisense transcript 1 (OIP5-AS1) and miR-92a in ovarian cancer (OC). Methods: OIP5-AS1, miR-92a and integrin alpha 6 (ITGA6) expression in OC tissues and cells was assessed. The screened OC cells were respectively with OIP5-AS1-, miR-92a- and ITGA6-related vectors or oligonucleotides. The viability, migration, invasion and apoptosis of the cells were determined and the levels of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT)-related proteins were also measured. The interactions between OIP5-AS1 and miR-92a, and between miR-92a and ITGA6 were confirmed. Results: OIP5-AS1 and ITGA6 were upregulated while miR-92a was downregulated in OC. Inhibited OIP5-AS1 or downregulated ITGA6 or elevated miR-92a repressed EMT, viability, migration and invasion, and promoted apoptosis of OC cells. OIP5-AS1 as a competing endogenous RNA interacted with miR-92a to regulate ITGA6. These effects that induced by silenced OIP5-AS1 could be reversed by miR-92a inhibition while those that induced by up-regulated miR-92a were reduced by restored ITGA6. Conclusion: OIP5-AS1 silencing promoted miR-92a to repress proliferation and metastasis of OC cells through inhibiting ITGA6. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Hexahydroxy strontium stannate nanorods were synthesized via a facile hydrothermal route and characterized by X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and solid UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The nanorods with single crystalline hexagonal SrSn(OH)6 phase have lengths of several μm and diameters of 50–150 nm. The formation process was investigated by observing the evolution of the morphology and structure under different conditions. The band gap is 3.76 eV. The photocatalytic performance of the nanorods was evaluated under ultraviolet light irradiation with crystal violet in aqueous solution which can be entirely photo-degraded within 6 hours. Anti-interference experiments showed that hydroxyl radicals, holes, and superoxide radicals are involved in the sdegradation of crystal violet. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: More people with cognitive dysfunction and dementia also fall into the category of high vascular risk, for which aspirin is one of the most frequently used drugs. However, previous studies reporting that aspirin buffers against mild cognitive decline (MCI) and dementia remain controversial. We thus conducted an updated systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the association of aspirin use with the risk of MCI and dementia in older adults. Methods: Data sources from PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Database for randomized controlled trails (RCTs) and cohort studies (published between January 1, 2000 and April 11, 2020). Relative risks (RRs) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) were used to pool data on the occurrence of dementia and MCI with random-effects models. Results: Of 3,193 identified articles, 15 studies (12 cohort studies and three RCTs) were eligible and were included in our analysis, which involved a total of 100,909 participants without cognitive dysfunctions or dementia at baseline. In pooled cohort studies, aspirin use did not reduce the incidence of MCI and dementia (the pooled RR = 0.97; 95% CI = 0.85–1.11; I for heterogeneity 2 = 65%) compared with non-users. However, low-dose aspirin (75–100 mg/day) was associated with a decreased likelihood of developing dementia or MCI (the pooled RR = 0.75; 95% CI = 0.63–0.9; I for heterogeneity 2 = 50.5%). This association existed in studies including all-cause dementia (the pooled RR = 0.82; 95% CI = 0.71–0.96) and Alzheimer's disease (AD) (the pooled RR = 0.54; 95% CI = 0.33–0.89), but not in MCI (the pooled RR = 0.58; 95% CI = 0.31–1.08). In RCTs, low-dose aspirin use was not significantly associated with less prevalence of dementia or MCI (RR = 0.94; 95% CI = 0.84–1.05; I for heterogeneity 2 = 0.0%). Conclusions: In cohort studies, we found that low-dose aspirin use had a higher likelihood of reducing the incidence of dementia, which was not supported by RCTs. The evidence was insufficient to fully evaluate the effect of aspirin on cognitive function and dementia. Well-designed studies and innovative approaches are therefore needed to clarify whether the use of aspirin improves cognitive function and reduces the risk of dementia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Structure-borne noise from railway bridges has become increasingly severe due to increased train speeds and axle loads. Constrained layer damping can suppress structural vibration and noise considerably across a wide frequency range by dissipating vibrational energy via damping layer shear deformation. This paper proposes a theoretical method of calculating the train-induced vibration and noise of a constrained layer damping-enhanced railway bridge based on the train–track–bridge coupled vibration, the modal strain energy method, and statistical energy analysis. First, the vibration responses of bridge decks were obtained via train–track–bridge coupled vibration calculations. Second, the constrained layer damping subsystem modal loss factors were determined via modal strain energy analysis and converted to damping loss factors in 1/3 octave band. Third, upon substituting the vibration energies of the decks and the damping loss factors of constrained layer damping subsystems into the statistical energy analysis power balance equations, the transmitted vibration energy results from various bridge subsystems were determined by solving the referenced equations. The structure-borne noise from the bridge was finally determined by analyzing the vibratory energies of all of the bridge subsystems using vibro-acoustic theory. Numerical analysis and field measurements of vibration and noise from a three-span steel–concrete composite bridge before and after constrained layer damping installation were performed. The predicted train-induced vibration and noise agreed well with the measured results. The stringer web and flange vibration velocity levels were reduced by 10.5 dB and 6.1 dB, respectively, and the sound pressure level at a measurement point 25 m (horizontal) from the track centerline and 1.5 m off the ground decreased by 4.3 dB(A). The harmful effects of ultrafine particles (UFPs) in the atmosphere have caused widespread concern. Ultrafine carbon black (UFCB) is an important component of UFPs. In this study, we explored the impact of UFCB on the structure, the antioxidant defense system, and the ATPase activity of human red blood cells (hRBCs). It was found that UFCB decreased the activity of SOD (73.58%), CAT (89.79%), and GSH‐Px (81.02%), leading to oxidative stress in hRBCs. UFCB had no destructive effect on the structure of hRBCs in 4 hours. ATPase activity increased (119.34%) and UFCB had weakly stimulated the cell membrane. On the molecular level, spectroscopic experiments showed that bovine hemoglobin (BHb) can bind to the UFCB by electrostatic force, leading to the shrinking of the BHb skeleton and increase in microenvironment polarity. This study demonstrates the negative hematological effect of UFCB on hemoglobin and hRBCs and reveals the potential risks in animals and humans. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Summary: Pear (Pyrus; 2n = 34), the third most important temperate fruit crop, has great nutritional and economic value. Despite the availability of many genomic resources in pear, it is challenging to genotype novel germplasm resources and breeding progeny in a timely and cost‐effective manner. Genotyping arrays can provide fast, efficient and high‐throughput genetic characterization of diverse germplasm, genetic mapping and breeding populations. We present here 200K AXIOM® PyrSNP, a large‐scale single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) genotyping array to facilitate genotyping of Pyrus species. A diverse panel of 113 re‐sequenced pear genotypes was used to discover SNPs to promote increased adoption of the array. A set of 188 diverse accessions and an F1 population of 98 individuals from 'Cuiguan' × 'Starkrimson' was genotyped with the array to assess its effectiveness. A large majority of SNPs (166 335 or 83%) are of high quality. The high density and uniform distribution of the array SNPs facilitated prediction of centromeric regions on 17 pear chromosomes, and significantly improved the genome assembly from 75.5% to 81.4% based on genetic mapping. Identification of a gene associated with flowering time and candidate genes linked to size of fruit core via genome wide association studies showed the usefulness of the array in pear genetic research. The newly developed high‐density SNP array presents an important tool for rapid and high‐throughput genotyping in pear for genetic map construction, QTL identification and genomic selection. The movement of the aircraft pitch is very important to ensure the passengers and crews are in intrinsically safe and the aircraft achieves its maximum stability.The objective of this study is to provide a solution to the control system that features particularly on the pitch angle motion of aircraft systemin order to have a comfort boarding. Three controllers were developed in these projects which wereproportional integral derivative (PID), fuzzy logic controller (FLC), and linear quadratic regulator (LQR) controllers. These controllers will help improving the pitch angle and achievingthe target reference. By improving the pitch motion angle, the flight will be stabilized and in steady cruise (no jerking effect), hence provides all the passengers withthe comfort zone. Simulation results have been done and analyzed using Matlab software. The simulation results demonstrated LQR and FLC were better than PID in the pitch motion system due to the small error performance. In addition, withstrong external disturbances, a single controller is unable to control the system, thus, the combination of PID and LQR managed to stabilize the aircraft. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

With the developing of ultrasound technology and expending of it's application scope, new requirements for the structure and the energy radiation of the transducer are presented. A reasonable design and manufacture of the transducer ensures that the energy can be transmitted with minimal loss. Based on the longitudinal vibration equation, a sandwich piezoelectric transducer which can be used in the field of precision machining, medical and other fields is designed and simulated in this paper. Different from the ordinary transducer, the front cover of this transducer is also a horn which can amplify the output amplitude compared to an equal section circular bar. ANSYS15.0 is used to calculate and analyze the transducer model with using HyperMesh (HM) software to generate the mesh to ensure the quality of the mesh. The finite element analysis software can calculate the transducer modal and harmonic response, and the results can be used to compare with theoretical design. The design frequency of the transducer is 20 kHz, the error between the simulation and the theoretical value is less than five percent, the result obtained by ANSYS is very close to the theoretical design. In this study, Bacillus subtilis 9407 showed a strong antibacterial activity against Acidovorax citrulli in vitro and 61.7% biocontrol efficacy on melon seedlings 4 days post inoculation under greenhouse conditions. To understand the biocontrol mechanism of B. subtilis 9407, identify the primary antibacterial compound and determine its role in controlling bacterial fruit blotch (BFB), a srfAB deletion mutant (ΔsrfAB) was constructed. The ΔsrfAB which was deficient in production of surfactin, not only showed almost no ability to inhibit growth of A. citrulli but also decreased biofilm formation and reduced swarming motility. Colonization assay demonstrated that B. subtilis 9407 could conlonize on melon roots and leaves in a large population, while ΔsrfAB showed a four- to ten-fold reduction in colonization of melon roots and leaves. Furthermore, a biocontrol assay showed that ΔsrfAB lost the biocontrol efficacy. In summary, our results indicated that surfactin, which consists of C13- to C16-surfactin A was the primary antibacterial compound of B. subtilis 9407, and it played a major role in biofilm formation, swarming motility, colonization and suppressing BFB. We propose that the biocontrol activity of B. subtilis 9407 is the results of the coordinated action of surfactin-mediated antibacterial activity and colonization. The UAV system has been widely applied in various military and civil fields. This technology mainly is applied to radar positioning, wild fire management, agricultural monitoring, environmental monitoring, aerial photography and search and rescue mission. It conducts real-time monitoring and control on the inclination angle, inclination angle speed and accelerated speed of inclination angle based on the flight attitude control of the multi rotor UVA. Secondly, it controls the swing deflection of rotor, motor speed, inclination angle control and speed based on the optimal solution ability to overall search of the genetic algorithm to achieve the real time optimization of parameters. Then, it establishes the servo unit with direct torque current which will be combined with the sliding mode controller to reconfigure the sliding mode variable structure controller with direct torque to carry out control on the motor balance in advance. The experiment results show that the servo unit with direct torque current together with genetic algorithm realizes the error correction of the hovering rotor of UVA; during the dynamic control of the UAV fight, the gyroscope is sensitive to the change of the aerial carrier attitude and then the correction to the drift of gyroscope can be realized to provide stable reliability control for the whole UAV flight. Collective pitch control and individual pitch control algorithms were present for straight-bladed vertical axis wind turbine to improve the self-starting capacity. Comparative analysis of straight-bladed vertical axis wind turbine(SB-VAWT) with or without pitch control was conducted from the aspects of aerodynamic force, flow structure and power coefficient. The computational fluid dynamics (CFD) prediction results show a significant increase in power coefficient for SB-VAWT with pitch control. According to the aerodynamic forces and total torque coefficient obtained at various tip speed ratios (TSRs), the results indicate that the blade pitch method can increase the power output and decrease the deformation of blade; especially, the total torque coefficient of blade pitch control at TSR 1.5 is about 2.5 times larger than that of fixed pitch case. Furthermore, experiment was carried out to verify the feasibility of pitch control methods. The results show that the present collective pitch control and individual pitch control methods can improve the self-starting capacity of SB-VAWT, and the former is much better and its proper operating TSRs ranges from 0.4 to 0.6. Wind energy is one of the most promising renewable energy sources, straight-bladed vertical axis wind turbine (S-VAWT) appears to be particularly promising for the shortage of fossil fuel reserves owing to its distinct advantages, but suffers from poor self-starting and low power coefficient. Variable-pitch method was recognized as an attractive solution to performance improvement, thus majority efforts had been devoted into blade pitch angle effect on aerodynamic performance. Taken into account the local flow field of S-VAWT, mathematical model was built to analyze the relationship between power outputs and pitch angle. Numerical simulations on static and dynamic performances of blade were carried out and optimized pitch angle along the rotor were presented. Comparative analyses of fixed pitch and variable-pitch S-VAWT were conducted, and a considerable improvement of the performance was obtained by the optimized blade pitch angle, in particular, a relative increase of the power coefficient by more than 19.3%. According to the engineering investigation of long-distance oil and gas pipelines, the criterions and measures of route selection are drawn as follows: the flat landform is the first choice in route alignment. The foot of mountain is the first choice when the route passes by the valley. The route should pass by but the shady and deposited slope and not in sunny and erosive slope as possible as it can. The pipeline should be vertical to contour climbing and descending the mountain except steep slope. Tunnel can be used in crossing foothill. Perpendicularly traversing the river is better than beveling; the worst choice is to put the pipeline along the river. Bypass is the best choice in karsts area. It is practical to carry out sponge cities to manage rain and floods in collapsible loess areas where water resources and water disasters are prominent. The infiltration laws of the partial anti-seepage bioretention in collapsible loess fields are helpful to ensure the effectiveness and safety of sponge city, which were learned from the field test and numerical model. The seepage field and displacement field of loess sites with different collapsibility grades were compared during rainwater infiltration of the bioretention with the numerical model; the suitability and optimization suggestions for foundation treatment of this structure in various sites were proposed. It is found that the infiltration characteristics can be divided into three stages, and the infiltration range of bioretention increases with increasing infiltration time under the same site type, and the higher the collapsibility level of the site is, the more significant the rise in infiltration range. The settlement of adjacent roads in class II and III collapsible fields is far greater than that in class I and is greater than the settlement standard. The facilities' bottom part foundation can be replaced to ensure the functionality of the facilities and the safety of the surrounding roads in the actual project. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
