This volume was first published by Inter-Disciplinary Press in 2013. These discourses take the reader around the world, into such cities as Aberdeen, Växjö, Zarnowiec, Curitiba and Limburg, to visit the environmental practices, examined under the magnifying glass. Venture Capital-Investoren spielen dafür eine wichtige Rolle. Sie stellen jungen Technologiefirmen Kapital und Expertise zur Verfügung, um innovative Technologien erfolgreich zu entwickeln und zu kommerzialisieren. Wieso aber tätigen Venture Capital-Investoren in Deutschland bisher nur einen geringen Anteil ihrer Investitionen im Erneuerbare-Energien-Sektor? Gibt es Investitionshemmnisse, die speziell diesen Sektor für sie unattraktiv machen oder sind sie einfach nur ineffizient darin, einem vergleichsweise jungen Technologiesektor Kapital zur Verfügung zu stellen? Oliver Keilhauer geht diesen Fragen nach. Seine empirischen Untersuchungsergebnisse zeigen, dass sektorspezifische Besonderheiten wie die Ungewissheit der staatlichen Förderung und ein nur geringes finanzielles Renditepotential die Investitionstätigkeit im Erneuerbare-Energien-Sektor einschränken. Sie zeigen aber auch, dass Investoren mit zunehmender Erfahrung besser mit diesen Hindernissen umgehen können. Hieraus ergeben sich erstmals klare Handlungsempfehlungen, wie sich das Investitionsumfeld für Venture Capital-Investoren zielgerichtet verbessern lässt.

Ein renommiertes interdisziplinäres Autorenteam geht zunächst ausführlich auf die naturwissenschaftlichen Grundlagen des Treibhauseffektes ein und benennt die Akteure, Instrumente und Konflikte im Rahmen der internationalen und der nationalen Klimapolitik. Ferner erörtern die Autorinnen und Autoren ökonomische Aspekte des Treibhauseffektes und der Klimaschutzpolitik und erläutern den Beitrag der beiden Enquête-Kommissionen des Deutschen Bundestages zum Schutz der Erdatmosphäre. Schließlich behandeln sie die Umsetzung der Klimarahmenkonvention in Deutschland auf der Ebene des Bundes, eines Bundeslandes (Hessen) und dreier Städte (Heidelberg, Münster und Frankfurt am Main).

Politische Herrschaft in modernen demokratischen Gesellschaften ist auf Grundrechte abgestützt, zustimmungsabhängig und begründungspflichtig. Zustimmung und Begründung realisieren sich im wesentlichen durch politische Kommunikation. Mit der Öffentlichkeit sind deshalb die Legitimitätsgeltung moderner Herrschaftsordnungen, die Auseinandersetzungen um ihre Verfasstheit, um ihre Institutionen und ihre Steuerungsfähigkeit untrennbar verknüpft. Dies verleiht dem erneut und auf vielfältige Weise beklagten'Zerfall der Öffentlichkeit'Gewicht.

Der vorliegende Band enthält eine Sammlung von Beiträgen zum Problem der Wechselwirkung zwischen Geist und Materie, einem der zentralen Probleme europäischer Geistesgeschichte. Die Blickwinkel, die dabei eingenommen werden, sind vorrangig die der Physik und der Psychologie. Die Wechselwirkung dieser Gebiete wird so deutlich wie nie zuvor im Dialog zwischen zwei Forscherpersön­ lichkeiten dieses Jahrhunderts sichtbar: dem Physiker Wolfgang Pauli (1900- 1958) und dem Psychologen Carl Gustav Jung (1875-1961). In zahlreichen Brie­ fen und Manuskripten Paulis, die erst in den letzten Jahren allgemein zugänglich wurden, finden sich bemerkenswerte und wichtige Beiträge zu diesem Dialog, die das Verständnis des Zusammenhanges von Geist und Materie in einem neuen Licht erscheinen lassen. Um den durch Pauli und Jung begonnenen Dialog fortzusetzen und weiter fruchtbar zu machen, ist das interdisziplinäre Gespräch zwischen Physikern und Psychologen nötig. Diesem Zweck diente eine von der Eidgenössischen Techni­ sehen Hochschule Zürich (der Hochschule, an der Pauli tätig war) und dem C.G.Jung-Institut Zürich (das Jung gegründet hat) gemeinsam veranstaltete Tagung im Centro Stefano Franscini (Monte Verita, Ascona) vom 13. bis 18. Juni 1993. Sie stand unter dem Thema Das Irrationale in den Naturwissenschaften: Wolf gang Paulis Begegnung mit dem Geist der Materie und wurde von Pier Luigi Luisi initiiert und organisiert. Als Berater fungierten Paul Brutsehe, Hans Primas und Eva Wertenschlag-Birkhäuser. Berichte und Kommentare zu dieser Tagung wurden in Heft 4/1993 der Zeitschrift Gaia veröffentlicht.

The world is going green. Sustainable technologies, such as renewable energy and electric vehicles, are increasingly becoming part of our daily life. This dissertation fills the ensuing gap by providing an insight into the emerging German greentech industry, one of the largest in the world. It develops an integrated and interdisciplinary theoretical framework in which to assess the relationships between innovation, growth and financing from a firm-level perspective; it then tests this framework empirically. In essence, the study finds that: (1) Innovative activity and corporate growth depend heavily on the availability of capital. At the same time, it appears that particularly innovative firms are more likely to face financial constraints. (2) A lack of funds is very apparent for around a quarter of the firms investigated and seems most severe in the early part of the growth state, where firms focus on commercializing existing products. (3) Government support programs only partially offset these effects​

The SRI phenomenon is said to be entering the mainstream of financial intermediation. From a fairly marginal practice promoted or campaigned for by NGO's and at odds with financial practice and orthodoxy it grew into well formulated policy adopted by a wide range of investors. Academic literature on SRI has also boomed on the assumption that mainstreaming is taking place. However, little thinking has been carried out on questions specifically arising from this alleged ‘mainstreaming'. This book, addressed to those with a scholarly or practitioner's interest in SRI, starts filling this neglected dimension. Today, one cannot ignore the difficulties of main stream financing. The financial spheres are trembling globally in one of the worst crises since the 1930's. As a response to the crisis, the intermediation of ‘financial responsibility'will undoubtedly be the subject of new regulation and scrutinizing. This book looks into what these turbulences will imply for SRI. In view of these circumstances, one might or even should, ask oneself whether the phenomenon was not an empty fad during the exuberant high of financial euphoria that came abruptly to an end with current financial crises. To put it rather sec: are financial intermediaries that promote ‘sustainability'credible, while it is obvious that some developments in financial intermediation -predictably, as some say- were unsustainable? Is this an opportunity for enhancing SRI because of the strength and superiority it has developed or will it disappear due to a return to financial myopia? This book is the first to question the future of SRI in such a radical way.

Der globale anthropogene Klimawandel hat ökologische, ökonomische und soziale Folgen. Nicht nur bei Unternehmen, sondern auch in der Bevölkerung zeigt sich ein zunehmendes Klimabewusstsein. Um Verbrauchern bei ihrem Einkauf die Wahl eines klimaschonenden Produktes relativ einfach und schnell zu ermöglichen, kann ein Klimasiegel hilfreich sein. International sind die unterschiedlichsten Klimasiegel eingeführt worden, auch in Deutschland existieren bereits zwei, die ganz verschiedene Konzepte verfolgen. Bei der Gestaltung eines Klimasiegels muss unter anderem über den Informationsgehalt entschieden werden. Dieser ist nicht nur für die Vergleichbarkeit verschiedener Produkte einer Produktgruppe ausschlaggebend. Die vorliegende Untersuchung wird anhand der emotionalen Betroffenheit durch den Klimawandel, dem Wissensstand über den Klimawandel und anhand der umweltschonenden Kaufgewohnheiten der Konsumenten eine Aufteilung vornehmen, um eventuelle Unterschiede in der möglichen Gestaltung eines Klimasiegels hinsichtlich des Informationsumfangs zu identifizieren. Somit sollen Handlungsempfehlungen bei der Klimasiegelgestaltung abgeleitet werden können, die den Konsumentenbedürfnissen entgegenkommen. In einer abschließenden Branchenanalyse wird evaluiert werden, bei welchen Produktkategorien eine Kennzeichnung mit einem Klimasiegel sich am erfolgversprechendsten erweisen dürfte.
