【Abstract】Dislocation of the radial head in adults is uncommon. A simultaneous dislocation of the radial head and fracture of the ipsilateral distal end of radius with no other associated injuries is extremely rare. As far as we know, such an injury after an unusual mode of injury has been seldom reported in the English literature. We report such a case without any associated injuries or comorbidity. Closed reduction was performed within two hours after injury and results were satisfactory. Immobilisation was continued for 3 weeks. Gradual mobilisation was started after removal of the plaster under the supervision of a physiotherapist. At 6 months’ follow-up, the patient had no residual pain at the elbow with full flexion & extension. Almost full supination with a restriction of last 10 degrees of pronation was achieved. There was no evidence of instability of the elbow. Key words: Radial heads; Dislocations; Radius fractures

【Abstract】 Nonunion in tibial plateau fractures is very rare. Limited literature is available on Pubmed search on intraarticular tibial nonunion. Most of the cases reported have been following failed surgical treatment and none was neglected fractures. Three patients of isolated and neglected medial tibial plateau nonunion with almost similar demo-graphic profile are reported in this paper. All the three pa-tients were managed by minimally invasive compression fixation using lag screws supplemented with limb realign-ment procedure of high tibial osteotomy. We discussed the injury mechanism, management and rehabilitation in such cases and reviewed the available literature regarding such a presentation. Ovarian reserve tests are valuable for evaluation of female fertility, and to formulate appropriate treatment strategies for infertile women. Antral follicle count (AFC) and Anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) are most reliable markers of ovarian reserve which are related inversely to age. There are many factors that affect ovarian reserve like race, ethnicity, fertility status, BMI or any chronic illness. We conducted this study to find outage specific nomograms for AMH and AFC among fertile and Infertile Indian women, to find out any variations between fertile and Infertile ovarian reserves at various centiles, to define the age cut-off of decline in AMH and AFC among fertile and Infertile Indian women and to find correlation between AMH and AFC. It was a prospective cross sectional single centre study conducted at a tertiary hospital of northern India from March 2017 to February 2022. Fertile healthy women were recruited from family planning clinic, oocyte donors and subfertile women from Gynaecology and ART clinic. AMH was done using ELISA, Beckmann Coulter Gen II assay and AFC was done using TVS with high frequency probe (9.0 MHZ, Voluson,S-6, GE Healthcare, USA) by trained personnel. R Statistical Programming Language was used for statistical modelling and visualization. Age-specific AFC centile chart and AMH centile chart were generated using GAMLSS (Generalized Additive Models for Location Scale and Shape) package available in R Statistical Computing Language. A Non-linear decline in ovarian reserves among fertile, while linear among infertile women was seen. Centiles defined for both groups with a faster decline in infertile women. Age cut off for decline in AMH and AFC in fertile women approximately 31 years using ROC analysis and Age cut off for decline in AMH and AFC in infertile women is approximately 34 years. There seems to be a good correlation between AFC and AMH. We need to counsel women to consider child bearing well before ovarian reserves decline (31–34 years). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: To investigate the effect of methanolic leaf extract of Talinum triangulare on hematological parameters, enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidant status, and serum lipid in Wistar rats fed standard laboratory, or 2% cholesterol-enrich diet. Material and Methods: Wistar rats (180- 210g) divided into six groups of six animals (males) each were fed 2% cholesterol-enriched diet and orally treated with 0.9% saline or extract of Talinum triangulare (250, 500, and 1000 mg/kg per body weight) daily for eight weeks. Lipid profile, lipid peroxidation (MDA), hematological parameters, and their functional indices and serum antioxidant enzymes (catalase, glutathione -S-transferase, and superoxide dismutase) activities and glutathione status were assessed in normal and diet-induced hypercholesterolemic extract treated rats and compared with the rats treated with 100 mg/kg per bwt standard drug gemfibrozil. Results: A significant (P < 0.05) increase in lipid profile (total glyceride, total cholestrol, low-density lipoprotein, and very low-density lipoprotein), MDA and reduction (P < 0.05) in enzymatic and nonenzymatic antioxidant status coupled with alterations in hematological parameters was observed in the serum of hypercholesterolemic rats when compared with animals on a normal diet. Coadministration of methanolic leaf extracts of Talinum triangulare or gemfibrozil significantly (P < 0.05) restored the elevated serum lipid profile, MDA, and the deranged hematological parameters to near normal. The extract also protected against hypercholesterolemicinduced diminished enzymatic and nonenzymatic antioxidant status. The activities of the plant extract are dose (250, 500, and 1000 mg/kg) dependent and it compared favorably with the standard drug gemfibrozil. Conclusion: The present study suggested that the extract of Talinum triangulare might protect against hypercholesterolemic-induced altered lipid profiles, oxidative stress, and also improve the status of antioxidant defense system and hematopoiesis. C.reflexa Roxb. (Cuscutaceae or Convolvulaceae) is a golden yellow leafless plant commonly known as amarbel, akashbel, swaranlata, devils guts, hair weed and love-wine. The methanol extracts of C. reflexa is implicated as an antimicrobial. Plant extracts of C.reflexa growing on different sources (Acacia arabica and Zizyphus jujube) were prepared using aqueous and various organic solvents viz. benzene, acetone, ethanol and methanol. Agar well diffusion technique was used to assess the antimicrobial potential of plant from different sources against gram positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus & Staphylococcus epidermidis), gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli & Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and fungus (Aspergillus niger). The diameter of zone of inhibition was taken as an indicator of antimicrobial effect. The present study showed a strong inhibitory effect of ethanol and methanol extracts of C.reflexa (jujuba and arabica) on most of the gram positive and gram negative bacteria. The aqueous extract of C.reflexa (arabica) failed to show any antimicrobial activity while C.reflexa (jujuba) showed very little effect. Thus C.reflexa growing on Zizyphus jujuba could be considered as a potential source of natural antimicrobials. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
