Under investigation is the (2+1)-dimensional version of fifth-order equation, which is an extension of the (1+1)-dimensional fifth-order equation. First, the [Formula: see text]-soliton solutions of this (2+1)-dimensional equation are constructed by using its Hirota bilinear form. Second, through using long-wave limit technique and selecting appropriate parameters for the [Formula: see text]-soliton solutions, diverse localized wave structures including kink soliton, breather, lump solution and their mixed interaction behaviors are obtained, and relevant dynamics features are discussed and analyzed graphically. Finally, some mathematical properties and special physical phenomena are summarized. The results obtained in this paper might be helpful to deepen the understanding of the interaction evolution of nonlinear localized waves.

This paper deals with localized waves in the (3+1)-dimensional Boiti–Leon–Manna–Pempinelli equation in the incompressible fluid. Based on Hirota’s bilinear method, N-soliton solutions related to Boiti–Leon–Manna–Pempinelli equation are constructed. Novel nonlinear wave phenomena are obtained by selecting appropriate parameters to N-soliton solutions, and time evolutions of different kinds of solitary waves are investigated in detail. Rich elastic interactions are illustrated analytically and graphically. More specifically, the inelastic interactions, i.e., fusion and fission of solitary waves, are constructed by choosing special parameters on kink solitons and breathers. The analysis of the influence of parameters on propagation is revealed in three tables. The results have potential applications in fluid mechanics.

Objective: This study aimed to explore the factors influencing dental caries among 3–5-year-old children in Guizhou Province and the interrelationship between these factors using structural equation modeling, while providing theoretical references to improve the prevention and control strategy.Materials and Methods: A total of 1,291 children aged 3–5 years in Guizhou Province were selected by a multistage stratified and whole group random sampling to examine the caries prevalence in whole-mouth deciduous teeth crowns, and parents were surveyed with questionnaires to analyze the caries-related factors. IBM SPSS Statistics v 23.0 software (IBM, Armonk, NY, USA) was used for statistical analysis.Results: The caries prevalence of children aged 3–5 years in Guizhou Province was 63.1%, the mean decayed-missing-filled teeth was 3.32, the caries filling rate was 0.5%, and there was no statistically significant difference between urban and rural areas and among genders in each age group; results of logistic regression analysis showed that the caries risk increased with the following factors: age, brushing frequency Conclusions: With an overall poor situation about oral hygiene habits, oral healthcare attitude of the parents, and behavior transformation, the prevalence of dental caries in the deciduous teeth of children aged 3–5 years in Guizhou Province is high, and their caries status was severe, with more than 99% of the caries cases that were untreated. Therefore, prevention and treatment measures of caries in preschool children need strengthening through the improvement of public awareness and the enhancement of the management of oral health habits of their children.

Copper nanoparticles encapsulated by carbon (Cu-NPs@C) were synthesized by a two-step method by mixing cupric chloride and glucose in a solution, followed by carbonization. The microstructures and antibacterial activities of the Cu-NPs@C samples were characterized by TEM, XRD, XPS, nitrogen adsorption and antibacterial activity tests. Results indicated that the as-synthesized Cu-NPs had a FCC crystal structure and a spherical morphology of diameter 4-46 nm and were well dispersed in the porous graphitic carbon layers. When the mass ratio of cupric chloride to glucose was less than 1:5, the Cu-NPs@C were of pure metallic copper without any oxides, and were stable against ambient air oxidation. The Cu-NPs@C synthesized with a mass ratio of cupric chloride to glucose of 1:5 had a specific surface area of 418 m2/g, which showed much higher antibacterial activities against three different common bacteria (Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa) than pure nano-copper powder. It was believed that the carbon layers are responsible for capturing the bacteria while the copper ions released from the copper nanoparticles kill them. The outer carbon layers effectively protected the metallic copper inside from oxidation. These findings indicate that Cu-NPs@C can be used as a stable antibacterial agent in biomedical applications.

In this study, the immobilization with sodium alginate (SA) for cultivating microalgae in entrapped matrix gel beads was conducted for separating it from water. Batch experiments with a period of 5 days were carried out for free and immobilized Scenedesmus obliquus simultaneously under two trophic modes, to compare the removal performances of different initial ammonium (NH4+-N) concentrations. In both free and immobilized form, the positive C-dependent effect in mixotrophy and the negative N-dependent effect in heterotrophy were observed. And the performances of immobilized form were all superior to that of free form, which showed greater tolerance to high concentration, maximally representing 96.6 ± 0.1% removal in 50 mg/L of NH4+-N in mixotrophy. Assimilation of NH4+-N was the main removal pathway resulting the protein synthesis with the dominant component including glutamic acid (Glu), cystine (Cys), arginine (Arg) and proline (Pro). The results demonstrated a systematic understanding for NH4+-N removal in microalgae-based system.

In this paper, the higher-order nonlinear self-dual network equation is investigated. Firstly, an integrable lattice hierarchy associated with this equation is constructed from a discrete matrix spectral problem without the denominator. Secondly, the condition of modulational instability for this equation is given. Thirdly, the infinitely many conservation laws are constructed on the basis of its new Lax representation. Finally, the discrete generalised $$(m, N-m)$$ -fold Darboux transformation (DT) with non-zero constant as seed solution is used to derive new rational soliton (RS) and mixed interaction solutions. As an application, RS solutions can be obtained by the discrete generalised $$(1, N-1)$$ -fold DT (i.e., generalised $$(m, N-m)$$ -fold DT with $$m=1$$ ), and mixed interaction solutions of the usual sech-type soliton (US) and RS can be derived by the discrete generalised $$(2, N-2)$$ -fold DT (i.e., generalised $$(m, N-m)$$ -fold DT with $$m=2$$ ). We also perform the numerical simulations for such soliton solutions to explore their dynamical behaviours. Results given in this paper may have some prospective applications for understanding the propagation of electrical signals.

This paper deals with localized waves in the (2+1)-dimensional Caudrey-Dodd-Gibbon-Kotera-Sawada (CDGKS) equation in the incompressible fluid. Based on Hirota’s bilinear method, N-soliton solutions related to CDGKS equation are constructed. For the case N = 5 and N = 6, the exact expression of multiple localized wave solutions comprising lump solitons are obtained by using the long wave limit method. A variety of interactions are illustrated analytically and graphically. The influence of parameters on propagation is analyzed and summarized. The results and phenomena obtained in this paper enrich the dynamic behavior of the evolution of nonlinear localized waves.

Hou-Po-Da-Huang Tang (HPDHT) was used for the treatment of intestinal tract diseases in China. However, the underlying mechanisms via the intestinal bacteria remain largely unclear. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the metabolism of HPDHT by the human intestinal bacteria and its modulating effect on the intestinal bacteria. As a result, a total of 34 compounds were identified in HPDHT and transformed HPDHT (T-HPDHT). Among them, 12 metabolites were proved to be transformed by human intestinal bacteria. In vitro assays showed that T-HPDHT exhibited more significant elevation of free radical scavenging activity and suppression on the production of nitric oxide (NO) and TNF-α when comparing to HPDHT. Additionally, in vivo experiment confirmed that HPDHT significantly increased activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD), attenuated the malondialdehyde (MDA) and TNF-α levels in the conventional rats compared with that of pseudo germ-free (PGF) rats. In addition, HPDHT could significantly enhance the mean counts of Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus and inhibit the growth of Clostridium, and Enterobacteriaceae, relative to controls. Due to the transformation of HPDHT being dependent on the bacterial strain, the effect of HPDHT on the selective growth of Bifidobacterium bifidum 29521 and Lactobacillus plantarum 8014 was evaluated. The kinetic parameters of microbial growth and prebiotic activity scores indicated that HPDHT could selectively stimulate the growth of the strains Bifidobacterium bifidum 29521 and Lactobacillus plantarum 8014. Taken together, metabolism of HPDHT by intestinal bacteria is a critical step towards the emergence of their anti-oxidation, anti-inflammation and prebiotic activities. This study provided valuable information for further pharmacological research on HPDHT.

Bone cancer pain is a challenge for its not completely clarified mechanism and broad clinical morbidity. Therefore, novel and more effective drugs are urgent needed for improvement of patients' quality of life. Glutamate receptors have been associated with the development of the central sensitization of chronic pain. Inhibition of N-methyl-d-aspartate (NMDA) and metabotropic glutamate (mGlu) receptors can effectively attenuate bone cancer pain, respectively. Herein, our results indicated that levo-Corydalmine (l-CDL), a compound from Corydalis yanhusuo W.T. Wang, which has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for pain relief could effectively attenuate bone cancer pain induced by tibia bone cavity tumor cell implantation (TCI) through simultaneously inhibiting the NMDA and mGlu1/5 receptors in rat spinal cord without notable side effects. Both intragastric and intrathecal administration of l-CDL significantly alleviated the mechanical hypersensitivity induced by TCI in rats, and the analgesic effect of l-CDL could be reversed by intrathecal administration of NMDA receptor agonist NMDA and mGlu1/5 receptor agonist DHPG but not AMPA receptor agonist AMPA. l-CDL could also selectively suppress NMDA and DHPG induced rapid rise in Ca2+ oscillations in primary cultures neurons of spinal cord in vitro. The antinociception of l-CDL were partially mediated by the reduced phosphorylation of PKC γ and ERK1/2 in spinal cord of TCI rats in a NMDA and mGlu1/5 dependent manner. In conclusion, these results suggested that l-CDL attenuates TCI induced bone cancer pain through simultaneously inhibiting the NMDA and mGlu1/5 receptors and the downstream PKC γ, ERK1/2 signaling pathways in the spinal cord.

Objective: The aim of this research was to develop a novel ALA fusion protein for target to the malignant cells surface with high uPAR expression and locally release of the scorpion toxin AGAP in an uPA-cleavable manner. It will provide an effective approach for controlled release of the peptide toxins to treat cancerous cells. Methods: The ALA fusion proteins were expressed in pichia pastoris, and the recombinant proteins were purified by Ni-NTA affinity chromatography. The proteins were added to human breast cancer cells (MDA-MB-231) and human embryonic kidney cells (HEK-293) in order to investigate the characteristic of selective targeting and releasing of scorpion toxin AGAP in cancer cells with high uPAR expression. The inhibitory effect of ALA on MDA-MB-231, MCF7, LO2 and HEK-293 was evaluated by MTT assay. Moreover, the antiproliferation mechanism of ALA was determined by flow cytometric and western blot analysis. Results: The results showed that ALA could target MDA-MB-231 cells and the scorpion toxin AGAP could be released with high efficiency and selectivity. ALA inhibited the growth and invasion of breast cancer cells MDA-MB231. Also, cell apoptosis pathway was found to be associated with the inhibition mechanism of ALA according to the data of flow cytometric and western blot analysis. Therefore, ALA could be a novel antitumor candidate for targeting treatment of malignant cell. Conclusions: This study successfully demonstrated that fusion of biotoxins with tumor target domain could provide a simple yet effective way to delivery of peptide or protein drugs.

In this paper, the (2[Formula: see text]+[Formula: see text]1)-dimensional CDGKS equation is studied and its diverse soliton solutions consisting of line soliton, periodic soliton and lump soliton with different parameters are derived based on the Hirota bilinear method and long-wave limit method. Based on exact solution formulae with different parameters, the interaction between line soliton and periodic soliton, the interaction between line soliton and lump soliton, as well as the interaction between periodic soliton and lump soliton are illustrated. According to the dynamical behaviors, it can be found that the effects of different parameters are on the propagation direction and shapes. Novel soliton interaction phenomena are also observed.

Georobot is widely used to precision engineering measurement, especially in automatic continuous deformation monitoring, e.g. dam and landslide deformation monitoring, in virtue of the unique ATR and tracking technology. However it is hard to evaluate the actual tracking measurement precision because of the complex circumstance in specific application. The paper designs reasonable experiments solution, including test of tracking measurement of the stationary target point for the positioning precision and test of tracking measurement of the regular shape for the measuring deformation precision. The experiment result shows the positioning precision and measuring deformation precision both can reach the sub-millimeter level if centering error is eliminated, otherwise maybe in about 1.5mm level. It validates the reliability and efficiency of Georobot in automatic continuous deformation monitoring.

Ten novel artemisinin derivatives containing sulfur atoms were designed and synthesized and their structures were confirmed by 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR and HRMS technologies in this study. All compounds were reported for the first time. The in vitro cytotoxicity against PC-3, SGC-7901, A549 and MDA-MB-435s cancer cell lines was evaluated by MTT assay. Compounds 4a and 4f displayed potent antitumor activity against PC-3, SGC-7901 and A549 cells with IC 50 ranging from 1.6 to 30.5 μM, which values are compared to that of 5-FU (IC 50 from 6.8 to 42.5 μM). Compounds 4a and 4f showed high specificity towards human lung cancer A549 cells compared to normal human hepatic L-02 cells with selectivity index of 16.1 and 50.1 respectively. Our promising findings indicated that the compounds 4a and 4f could stand as potential lead compounds for further investigation.

Aim: We investigated the effects of TORC1/2 kinase inhibitors on colorectal cancer (CRC) cell lines. Materials & methods: Using selective TORC1/2 inhibitors, rapamycin and PP242, we assessed their effect on the growth of CRC cells in vitro and tumor growth in vivo. Results: Rapamycin and PP242 inhibit proliferation and induce apoptosis of CRC cells. They also enhance proapoptotic effect of conventional chemo drug doxorubicin in CRC cells in vitro. When combined with doxorubicin, rapamycin and PP242 almost completely inhibit tumor growth in vivo. Rapamycin and PP242 inhibit phosphorylation of Akt, ribosomal S6 kinase, 4EBP1 and mTOR. Conclusion: Our study suggests rapamycin and PP242 may be a useful therapeutic agent and inhibiting mTOR signaling pathway represents a new targeted therapy for CRC.

This paper mainly introduces the geological disaster economic losses structure drawing and evaluated methods which include human capital method, shadow valuation method, market valuation method, investigation appraisal method and coefficient of proportionality method, and analyzes different economic losses should adopt different appraisal method. And take the Qianjiangping landslide for instant, this paper introduces how to evaluate landslide disasters economic loss. The idea and method have certain guiding significance to geological disaster economic losses evaluation.

A kind of efficient, environment-friendly compound inhibitor was prepared with 2-mercaptobenzimidazole (2MBI), potassium iodide, triethanolamine, polyoxyethylene nonylphenyl ether and peregal by weight loss through orthogonal experiment. The effects of the compound on corrosion of A20 steel in citric acid have been investigated in relation to it’s concentration by weight loss measurements, polarization curve methods and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The result of weight loss reveals that the compound is a good inhibitor whose efficiency can reach 98.8%. Polarization curve results show that the compound restrain the process of cathode and anode, belonging to anode control-oriented and charge transfer-controlled. EIS results show that the changes in the impedance parameters (Rp and Cd) with concentrations of the compound are indicative of the adsorption of these molecules leading to the formation of a protective layer on steel surface.

Ascites in patients with hepatic cirrhosis is caused by cirrhosis in most cases. For most malignant ascites, the primary malignancy could be readily identified using conventional imaging methods, e.g., computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). However, in a small fraction of the patients, the primary malignancy remains occult even with these examinations. In this retrospective study, we assessed the usefulness of (18)F-FDG PET/CT in patients with hepatic cirrhosis and malignant ascites of otherwise unknown origin.Twenty-eight patients with malignant ascites of unknown primary sites after CT, MRI and ultrasound during the period of five years between January 2008 and December 2012 had received (18)F-FDG PET/CT. Medical records of these patients were reviewed and analyzed.Elevated (18)F-FDG absorption was found in 23 of 28 cases in the following sites: gastrointestinal tract (n=10, 43.5%), prostate (n=5, 21.7%), peritoneum (n=4, 13.3%), and ovary (n=4, 13.3%). Cancer was confirmed by pathology in 20 cases after open or laparoscopic surgeries. Five patients were found to have benign ascites, among which, 3 were found to be false positive due to tuberculosis. SUV values were significantly higher for tumors than for benign lesions (mean values, 6.95 vs. 2.94; P=0.005).The (18)F-FDG PET/CT can be as a powerful imaging tool in identifying tissue origin in liver cirrhosis patients suspected of cancers or with cancers of unknown primary sites.

Transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) is a polypeptide member of the transforming growth factor β superfamily of cytokines and performs many cellular functions. Its overexpression may lead to renal fibrosis.This study planed to investigate the effects of TGF-β1 on the cell cycle and phenotype of mesangial cells.Rat mesangial cells were cultured together with different concentrations (0, 1, 2, 5, and 10 ng/mL) of TGF-β1 for specified times from 0 min to 72 h. 0 ng/mL TGF-β1 and 0 min served as controls. Cell cycles were assessed by flow cytometry and α-smooth muscle actin expression (α-SMA) protein expression by western blot analysis. All data were presented as Mean ± SD. Statistical analysis was performed by using one-way analysis of variance and correlation analysis. Results were considered significant at p 0.05.After 15 min of co-culture with different concentrations of TGF-β1, the percentage of mesangial cells in G0/G1 phase was significantly elevated compared to the control (p 0.05). 12 h co-culture induced cell hyperplasia, 24 h co-culture obvious up-regulation of α-SMA (p 0.01) and one or two cells' myofibroblast phenotype transition, and 36 h co-culture several cells' phenotype transition. Correlation analysis prompted that the TGF-β1-induced premature aging was time-dependent (p 0.01).TGF-β1 may induce mesangial cells' premature senescence and myofibroblast-like phenotype transformation time-dependently, which may contribute to the development of early stage of glomerulosclerosis.

To investigate the effects of telmisartan on the expression of angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) mRNA in monocyte-derived macrophages of hypertensive patients accompanied with diabetes.62 essential hypertensive patients accompanied with diabetes were randomly divided into two groups: regular treatment group, and telmisartan group. Then the content of ACE and ACE2 in serum was detected by ELISA, and the expression of ACE mRNA and ACE2 mRNA in monocyte-derived macrophages of patients was detected by RT-PCR before and after having been treated.(1) After having been treated for 4 weeks and 12 weeks, the blood pressure of the patients in two groups were decreased significantly, Comparing with regular group, telmisartan group seemed to have more obvious therapeutic effect (P0.05); (2) After having been treated for 12 weeks, glycosylated hemoglobin diseased in both group, but there was no significant difference between the two group (P0.05); (3) In telmisartan group, the content of ACE2 in serum was increased after having been treated for 12 weeks than that in regular treatment group, [(23.9 ± 8.2) U/L vs (16.3 ± 8.9) U/L, P0.05]; and the expression of ACE2 mRNA in monocyte-derived macrophages in telmisartan group was obviously increased after 12 weeks comparing with regular treatment group (0.73 ± 0.06 vs 0.51 ± 0.04, P0.01).The role of telmisartan in decreasing blood pressure and it's advantage to the metabolism of glucose are partly related with the up-regulation of ACE2 mRNA.

Background Sepsis-associated cholestasis is a common problem in neonatal patients. However, there are limited data related to sepsis-associated cholestasis in adults. In this study, the authors assessed the clinical characteristics, risk factors and outcome of adult patients with sepsis-associated cholestasis. Methods An observational prospective single-center study was conducted. A total of 608 patients with sepsis (66 patients with cholestasis and 542 without evidence of cholestasis) from January 1, 2005, to December 31, 2011, were included from the infectious disease unit. Demographic, clinical and laboratory information were recorded on admission for all patients. Additional data were also collected on the day of the 1st episode of bacteremia for patients who developed cholestasis. Accordingly, the organ dysfunction scores (Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation [APACHE] II and Sequential Organ Failure Assessment [SOFA]) were assessed on the same day. Results The mean age of the 608 patients was 49.3 ± 11.4 years (range, 22–83 years); 312 (51.3%) patients were men, 296 (48.7%) were women. The mean APACHE II and SOFA score were 15.2 ± 6 and 5.6 ± 2.3, respectively. Sepsis-associated cholestasis was strongly associated with older age, biomarkers of organ dysfunction and clinical composite scores (APACHE II and SOFA). Mortality was higher in patients with sepsis-associated cholestasis (10.6%) compared with subjects with sepsis without cholestasis (1.5%) ( P Conclusions The authors found that sepsis-associated cholestasis affects the outcome of patients with sepsis in the infectious disease unit. Additional clinical studies are necessary to elucidate the pathology and pathophysiology of sepsis-associated cholestasis.

Penicillium simplicissimum(Oudem.) Thomrn BGA can secrete lignocellulolytic enzymes, among these enzymes the highest activities of hemicellulase, cellulase, lignin peroxidase (Lip), manganese peroxidase (Mnp) and laccase are 146.82 Iu.g-1, 2.78 U.g-1, 47.97 U.g-1, 34.56 U.g-1 and 17.94 U.g-1 respectively. According to the results and the statistical analysis of SPSS, the ability of secreting lignocellulolytic enzymes by Penicillium simplicissimum significantly correlated with the structure of lignocellulose, and the biodegradation of lignocellulose was probably a kind of synergistic effect of several lignocellulolytic enzymes. In the solid-state fermentation of 30 days, the hemicellulose content has a significantly negative correlation with the fermentation days(r = -0.946, P0.01), there was also a significantly negative correlation between the cellulose-biodegradation and the lignin-biodegradation (r = -0.818, P0.05). As unselected enzymes, Lip and Mnp can degrade hemicellulose and cellulose corporately when biodegrades lignin. The significant correlation is showed between Lip, Mnp and cellulose (correlation parameters are r = 0. 922, P0.01; r = 0.807, P0.05 respectively). In addition, the biosorption is found to have a very important effect in the removal of liquid alkali lignin by Penicillium simplicissimum. This paper studies the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method which is used for landslide risk assessment. With an example, it selects the main index which affects landside disaster risk, applies for AHP to determine index weight at all levels which is used for fuzzy comprehensive evaluation. Analysis shows that fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method using for project risk assessment is feasible and the outcome is basically the same as the monitoring results, objectively reflects the indicator’s dynamics to the value of comprehensive assessment, and has advantages.

To study the efficacy of gene therapy with human vascular endothelial growth factor-c (VEGF-C) on obstructive lymphedema.Two animal models of lymphedema were created: one in the right hind limb of adult New Zealand white rabbits and the other in SD mouse tail. Each model was randomly divided into two groups to receive intradermal injection of either VEGF-C gene (experimental group), or saline(control group). In rabbit model, the volume change of affected limb was measured. In mouse model, biopsy was performed after 3 weeks treatment to detect the expression of VEGF-C mRNA and proteins. The lymphagenesis was evaluated by immunohistochemical examination with lymphatic endothelium hyaluronan receptor antibody.The volume of the affect rabbit limb decreased by (24.40 +/- 1.08) ml in experimental group, compared with (5.80 +/- 1.92) ml in control group (P = 0.0001). The expression of VEGF-C mRNA and protein increased markedly in experiment group, but not in controls. More lymphatic vessels with large caliber were seen in experiment group (P = 0.0004).VEGF-C gene therapy may alleviate or treat lymphedema by inducing lyphmangiogenesis.

We investigated the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis in diabetes, and detected the expression of scavenger receptor CD36 in monocytes in patients with type 2 diabetes.According to the criteria by WHO, diabetic patients were classified into two groups: well controlled diabetic patients (WCP) and poorly controlled diabetic patients (PCP). The expression of CD36 protein and mRNA were evaluated by flow cytometry and reversal transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Plasma levels of accumulation of oxidized LDL (oxLDL) were directly measured by sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method.Flow cytometry and RT-PCR showed that the mean fluorescence intensity (MFI) of CD36 in monocyte and CD36 mRNA were significantly higher in the PCP and WCP in comparison with healthy controls (P0.01). CD36 MFI and mRNA in the PCP were increased by 78% and 36% compared to the WCP. In both groups, CD36 MFI and mRNA were significantly higher in patients with diabetic atherosclerosis in comparison with those without diabetic atherosclerosis (P0.05). No significant difference was found in CD14 expression between the groups (P0.05). The concentrations of plasma oxLDL were higher in the PCP group compared to WCP and control group (P0.05), whereas oxLDL average values did not differ significantly between WCP and control groups (P0.05). In the WCP and PCP groups, oxLDL levels were higher in patients with diabetic atherosclerosis than those without diabetic atherosclerosis (P0.05).The increased expression of scavenger receptor CD36 may be one of the mechanism of accelerated atherosclerosis in diabetic. The poorly controlled diabetes patients are at higher risk for the vascular complications than the well controlled diabetic patients.

To achieve stable and long-term expression of BMP-7 gene in bone marrow stem cells (BMSCs).Retrovirus expression vector containing BMP-7 gene was constructed and transfected into packaging cells PT67. After puromycin selection and cells cloning, cell clones producing high level of recombinant virus were obtained. The viruses were used to infect directly BMSCs and the expression of BMP-7 gene in BMSCs was analyzed by immunohistochemical staining.Retrovirus vector containing BMP-7 gene was successfully reconstructed and BMP-7 was expressed in the BMSCs.The transfection rates was about 30%-40%.The construction of recombinant retrovirus vector containing BMP-7 gene can provide a reliable tool for the formation of bone or cartilage seed cells in the research of tissue engineering.

A recombinant inbred line (RIL) population, NJRIKY, which was derived from the cross Kefeng 1 xNannong 1138-2, was used to constructed the genetic linkage map. Larval weight and pupae weight of cotton worm [Prodenia litura (L.) Fabricius] were examined and used as indicators of resistance. Based on the linkage map constructed with SSR markers of this RIL population, one QTL responsible for larval weight was mapped on linkage group G20-O and the position was 31.91 cM. The QTL's additive effect was 0.0408 and explained 11.74 of the total variation of the larval weight. Two QTLs associated with pupae weight were mapped on linkage group G8-D1b+W and G17-L and the positions were 14.71 cM and 0.01 cM, respectively. The QTLs' additive effects were -0.0139 and 0.0103 ,which explained 11.30 and 6.36 of the total variation of larval weight, respectively.
