Kabupaten Nganjuk merupakan salah satu kabupaten di Provinsi Jawa Timur dengan jumlah penduduk yang cukup tinggi yaitu 1.103.491 jiwa. Tingginya jumlah penduduk mempengaruhi laju produksi air limbah di suatu Kabupaten/Kota. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk merencanakan instalasi bangunan pengolahan limbah tinja (IPLT) serta pelayanan yang akan diterapkan pada IPLT. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis data. Hasil penelitian ini didapat dimensi bangunan pengolahan bak ekualisasi panjang 1,4 m, lebar 0,7 m, dengan tinggi bangunan 1,8 m. Tangki imhoff panjang 40 m, lebar 9,5 m, dengan tinggi bangunan 9,5 m. Bak anaerobik panjang 33 m, lebar 11 m, dengan tinggi bangunan 4,5 m. Bak Aerasi fakultatif panjang 34,5 m, lebar 11,5 m, dengan tinggi bangunan 2,5 m. Bak maturasi panjang 28,5 m, lebar 9,5 m, dengan tinggi bangunan 1,5 m. Sludge Drying Bed panjang 32 m, lebar 8 m, dengan tinggi bangunan 1,2 m. Untuk lumpur dikeringkan pada unit sludge drying bed. Skema pelayanan berupa penyedotan pola transportasi pengangkutan secara langsung.

Herein, we reported the synthesis and corrosion inhibition studies of poly (N-tert- amylacrylamide-co- N-phenyl acrylamide) copolymers. The copolymers are synthesized by free radical polymerization using NTA and NPAM monomers . The synthesized copolymers are subjected to corrosion inhibition behavior by EIS and PDP methods. Both the methods showed same results of 85.0 percentage of inhibition

Fe3O4 Nanocomposite Hydrogels were prepared by free radical polymerization using N-tert-amyl acrylamide , Acrylamide and Sodium acrylate monomers at 60OC. Fe3O4 NPs was intercalated via in situ method. The synthesized nanocomposite Hydrogels conformed by FT-IR spectroscopy. Surface morphology of the nanocomposite hydrogels indicated the ferrate nanoparticles are intercalated uniformly throughout the polymer matrix. The XRD pattern of the hydrogel showed the presence of nanoparticles in the matrix with certain crystallinity nature. UV-visible absorption studies reveal the catalytic activity of Methylene Blue dye molecules in the aqueous medium by the Nanocomposite hydrogels.

Tofu liquid waste contains organic material, namely BOD which is quite high, if it is directly discharged into water bodies, it will reduce the carrying capacity of the environment. This causes the carrying capacity of the environment to decrease and ecosystem performance to become unbalanced, so that further processing is needed, namely Resin Immobilized Photocatalyst Technology (RIPT). In this study, the BOD reduction process was carried out with resin, photocatalyst, and immobilization. The process of immobilizing the catalyst against the resin aims to expand the surface and maintain photocatalyst activity. The type of catalyst used is ZnO and TiO2. After obtaining the RIP (Resin Immobilized Photocatalyst), then the RIP was added to the wastewater and the BOD concentration in the tofu wastewater was calculated. The resin capacity is calculated with the aim of knowing the ability of the resin to reduce the concentration of BOD. From the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the highest resin capacity when using ZnO catalyst is 0.3159 g/L and 0.2806 g/L using TiO2. The effluent parameter concentration is directly proportional to the resin capacity. As the sampling time increases, the resin's ability decreases.

Garbage is still a problem experienced by the community, due to poor management and processing and lack of awareness of the community itself. The waste generated by the Manukan Kulon TPS is still managed conventionally. Garbage is temporarily stored and then disposed of to the landfill using a garbage truck. One of the efforts that can be done in order to overcome the waste problem is to redesign the Manukan Kulon Temporary Disposal Site into a Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (TPS 3R) so that the burden of waste that is accommodated in the TPA is reduced. This plan projects the age of the 3R TPS for the next ten years, so that the highest volume of waste generation in 2022 will reach 78.53 m3/day with a population served by 13,744 people. Planning The 3R TPS consists of a sorting area, a stall packaging area, an organic waste storage and enumeration area, an organic waste composting area, a leachate storage area, and a compost sieving and packaging area, and is equipped with an office, cart parking area, residue area, storage warehouse. tools, toilets and prayer rooms with a total building area of ​​527.75 m2. The budget plan (RAB) that must be spent for this plan is Rp. 1,080,200,973.

Liquid waste from the tofu industry contains a lot of organic matter, the high content of this organic material will result in high BOD and COD values ​​in the waters and can have a bad impact if not handled properly. One alternative that is commonly used to overcome this problem is to use a photocatalyst degradation method. This study aims to determine the reaction kinetics which includes the determination of the reaction rate constant and the reaction order in removing the COD content of the resin-immobilized TiO₂ photocatalyst. This study presents the reaction kinetics of RIPT with catalyst, TiO2, catalyst mass (10gr, 20gr, 30gr), and RIPT mass (5gr, 10gr, 15gr). This research was conducted by making immobilized TiO2 photocatalyst resin and then entering 1000 ml of tofu industrial waste and the obtained RIPT-resin into the reactor in which stirring occurred using a test jar. Based on the results of the study, the best value for the reaction rate constant was obtained by the mass variation of RIPT (15gr). Meanwhile, the best value constant of reaction rate was obtained by mass variation of 30 gram TiO2 catalyst, with the result that the reaction rate constant value of RIPT- and RIPT-TiO2 30 grams was 0.0101 minute-1.

Limbah cair merupakan sisa hasil buangan sisa produksi atau aktivitas domestik yang berupa cairan. Limbah cair dapat berupa air beserta bahan­­bahan buangan lainnya yang tercampur (tersuspensi) maupun larut didalam air. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memberikan informasi tentang perbandingan efektivitas resin immobilized foto katalis TiO2 dan ZnO dalam proses degradasi fotokatalitik senyawa toksik yang terdegradasi (%). Kabupaten Sidoarjo merupakan kabupaten dikenal sebagai kota delta, karena diapit oleh dua sungai yaitu sungai Surabaya dan sungai porong. Penelitian ini dilakukan di pabrik tahu Muncul, Surabaya dan industri batik rumahan di Kecamatan Tanjung Bumi, Bangkalan, Madura. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode refluks untuk parameter uji COD, metode spektrofotometer UV­­Vis untuk parameter uji UV254 dan metode Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy untuk uji parameter Crom (Cr). Hasil penelitian pengaruh variasi RIP­ZnO adalah 1; 2; 3. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian limbah batik dan limbah tahu memiliki variasi yang lebih tinggi yaitu mencapai 75,56% untuk dosis 15 gram pada 15 jam, sedangkan limbah batik dan limbah tahu pada dosis 15 gram ke 15 jam dengan hasil 77,89%. Sedangkan pengaruh variasi terhadap penurunan konsentrasi UV254 untuk limbah batik memiliki variasi control 7,65% pada dosis 15 gram ke jam 15 dan limbah tahu dengan hasil 73,06% pada dosis 15 gram ke 15 jam. Pada penurunan konsentrasi krom (Cr), variasi control menghasilkan penurunan 73,06% pada dosis 15 gram ke jam 15 untuk limbah batik. Penyisihan tinggi COD dan UV254 didapatkan pada limbah batik dan limbah tahu memiliki nilai terendah.

Implementation of microalgae has been considered for enhancing effluent wastewater quality. However, it can cause environmental issues due to the release of extracellular and algal organic matter in the biological process. This study aimed to investigate the characteristics of dissolved effluent as algae- and bacteria-derived organic matter during the oxidation ditch process. Furthermore, experiments were conducted under three combinations filled by Spirulina platensis, Chlorella vulgaris, and without microalgae. The results showed that dissolved effluent organic matter was more aromatic and hydrophobic than before treatment. Fluorescence spectroscopy identified two components-aromatic protein-like and soluble microbial product-like components-at excitation/emission of 230/345 nm and 320/345 nm after treatment, instead of fulvic acid-like at 230/420 nm and humic acid-like at 320/420 nm in raw wastewater. These components were fractionated based on the average of molecular weight cut-offs (MWCOs), and high (MWCOs 50,000 Da), medium (MWCOs 50,000-1650 Da), and low molecular weights (MWCOs 1650 Da) were reported. Biological oxidation ditch under symbiosis algal bacteria generated humic and fulvic acid with a higher MWCOs than the process without algal. The quality and quantity of dissolved effluent organic matter in an oxidation ditch reactor were significantly affected by algal-bacteria symbiotic.

The degradation of azo is a challenge for environmentalists. Catalytic decomposition of azo dyes by ZnO heterogeneous photocatalysis and the influence of operating parameters such as light intensity, temperature, amount of ZnO catalyst, solution pH and amount of pollutants. It has been observed that ZnO catalysts is quite capable of removing azo dyes in the presence of sunlight. We can use the same catalyst over and over, and it works well every time. We recovered 99% clear water within a few hours of exposure to sunlight.

Pengomposan adalah proses dekomposisi bahan organic dengan memanfaatkan aktivitas mikroorganisme. Pengomposan ini menggunakan bahan debu sabut kelapa dan kottoran kambing dengan tabahan bioaktivator orgadec. Pupuk kandang yang sudah masuk proses pengomposan kemudian di analisa kadar Nitrogen (N), Karbon (C), pH, suhu, kadar air dan rasio C/N. Hasil analisa kemudian di bandingkan dengan standart baku mutu SNI 19-7030-2004. Analisa pupuk kandang dilakukan pada hari ke 7, 14, 21, 28, dan 35 hari. Hasil analisa pupuk kandang dengan variasi bahan 1:1:1 lebih efektif dan memerlukan waktu pengomposan yang relative cepat yakni 35 hari.

PMKP Kupang merupakan pabrik pembuatan minyak kayu putih yang telah beroperasi di Kabupaten Mojokerto dan dimiliki oleh Perum Perhutani. Dalam melakukan pekerjaannya pegawai produksi mendapatkan tekanan yang cukup tinggi sehingga beban kerja mental pegawai meningkat. Oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan analisis reksiko beban kerja mental yang dialami oleh pegawai dan faktor yang mempengaruhinya. Sehingga PMKP Kupang dapat menentukan langkah yang tepat untuk memperbaiki hal tersebut. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah NASA-TLX yang merupakan metode untuk mengetahui seberapa besar beban kerja mental. Dari hasil perhitungan NASA-TLX didapatkan nilai beban kerja seluruh pegawai sebessar 80,6 (sangat tinggi) dengan indicator beban kerja mental terbesar pada PMKP Kupang adalah faktor Tingkat Usaha (TU) sebesar 270.

The increase in laundry activity in the city of Surabaya has led to an increase in the use of detergents, where the content in detergents has a bad effect on the environment. This study uses an adsorption method with commercial activated carbon upflow flow with flow variations of 5 ml / minute, 10 ml / minute, and 15 ml / minute with a height variation of 10 cm, 15 cm, and 20 cm and a sampling time of 2 hours, 4 hours, 6 hours, 8 hours, 10 hours and 12 hours. The results obtained were the highest efficiency from phosphate removal of 99.07% and anionic surfactant (detergent) 95.35%. The optimum discharge is 5 ml / minute with a height of 15 cm of phosphate and 20 cm of anionic surfactant (detergent). The suitable model is freunlidch, where the R2 value is 0.9418.

Fakultas Teknik UPN “Veteran” Jawa Timur memiliki jumlah tenaga kerja yang berjumlah 100 orang, yang bertugas di Laboratorium maupun luar laboratorium. Menurut Per. 05 / MEN / 1996 yang menunjukan bahwa tempat kerja yang terdapat 100 orang atau lebih mengandung potensi bahaya yang dapat mengakibatkan kecelakaan kerja. Untuk mewujudkan perguruan tinggi yang memiliki safety, maka perlu direncanakan Sistem Manajemen K3 yang dapat menjadi referensi atau pedoman untuk Fakultas Teknik UPN “Veteran” Jawa Timur. Untuk penyusunan Draft dan penerapannya dilakukan dengan pengamatan proses kerja dan Identifikasi bahaya pada setiap laboratorium di Fakultas Teknik. Berdasarkan hasil identifikasi bahaya dan penilaian resiko bahwa jenis bahaya yang memiliki tingkat nilai resiko tinggi sejumlah 49, tingkat nilai resiko sedang sejumlah 19, dan tingkat nilai resiko rendah sejumlah 38, hal ini belum dapat diterima dan sebaiknya perlu diadakan pelatihan.

Pada proses pengolahan air limbah, telah banyak dikembangkan teknik-teknik yang menampilkan suatu unit yang dapat meremoval partikel-partikel atau flok flok yang cenderung sulit mengendap, dimana dengan menggunakan unit pengendap masih kurang efektif. Unit flotasi merupakan salah satu alternatif yang dapat dipertimbangkan, karena unit flotasi mempunyai beberapa keuntungan dibanding unit pengendap. Flotasi adalah proses dan unit yang dapat memisahkan liquid dari fasa cair dan fasa padat sehingga mampu terpisah, hal tersebut dapat terjadi karena adanya perbedaan berat jenis partikel dan karena adanya air jenuh udara yang dicampurkan sehingga mengandung gelembung-gelembung udara halus yang dapat membantu partikel-partikel atau flok yang memiliki masa jenis serta volume yang berbeda sehingga dapat mengapung ke permukaan untuk dipisahkan. Penelitian ini dilakukan guna untuk mendapatkan hasil dari olahan limbah cair kawasan industri dengan menggunakan metode flotasi dengan Dissolved Air Flotation atau DAF. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penurunan serta efektifitas unit flotasi pada kandungan minyak lemak dan TSS serta BOD dengan adanya pengaruh koagulan PAC serta resirkulasi. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh, penurunan kandungan minyak lemak ,TSS dan BOD terbaik adalah pada rasio resirkulasi 100% dengan penambahan koagulan sebesar 15ppm yaitu dengan persentase penurunan minyak lemak sebesar 75,00%, persentase penurunan TSS sebesar 81,48%. Dan persentase penurunan BOD sebesar 85,33%

Karakteristik Bundaran Dolog yang dikelilingi oleh jalan, mengakibatkan kerentanan terjadi penumpukan kendaraan bermotor pada jam-jam tertentu. Emisi Nitrogen Dioksida (NO2) dari kendaraan bermotor tersebut menyebabkan risiko pajanan polutan terhadap masyarakat yang bermukim di Bundaran Dolog, yaitu memberi efek negatif pada kesehatan manusia, berupa gangguan pernapasan. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh volume kendaraan di Bundaran Dolog terhadap konsentrasi NO2, yang merupakan polutan dari emisi bergerak/kendaraan bermotor di jalan raya. Lokasi penelitian berada pada Bundaran Dolog yang terdiri dari area Taman Pelangi dan permukiman Jemur Gayungan, dengan total 8 titik pengambilan sampel yang dilakukan selama 6 hari. Penelitian mengukur volume kendaraan bermotor yang diklasifikasikan menjadi jenis ringan (LV), berat (HV), dan sepeda motor (MC), serta mengukur suhu dan kecepatan angin. Hasil penelitian menujukkan rata-rata konsentrasi NO2 30,92 ug/m3, suhu 30,2℃ di area Taman Pelangi, serta konsentrasi NO2 41,07 ug/m3, suhu 30,7℃ di area permukiman Jemur Gayungan. Pemodelan regresi linier berganda menunjukkan nilai 0,739 yang memiliki arti bahwa terdapat hubungan yang kuat secara simultan antara volume tiga jenis kendaraan LV, HV, dan MC, serta variebel suhu dan kecepatan angin terhadap kenaikan konsentrasi polutan NO2.

Effectiveness of macroalgae was investigated for enhancing wastewater treatment processes. Bioremediation using macroalgae could remove nitrate and phosphate contaminants in the water where algae assimilate nitrogen and phosphorus and convert them to biomass. This study evaluates the effects of high nitrate concentration on the kinetics of cell growth during nitrate and phosphate removal by a macroalga Cladophora glomerata. The algal growth and nitrate removal from media containing initial nitrate concentrations of 5mg/L to 400 mg/L were monitored in batch growth, whereas control media has no additional nitrate. Light exposure was kept for 12 and 20 hours. The purpose of this research was to find out the effect of various nitrate concentrations on nitrate and phosphate removal with macroalgal growth. Maximum growth kinetic reaches ?=0.075/day in 20 hours light exposure with 100 mg/L initial nitrate concentration. Nitrate and phosphate reach about 90% removal rates on the fifth day. Nitrate concentration was not significantly affected by biomass growth (Pearson correlation: 0.295). But, phosphate concentration has a moderate correlation with macroalgae biomass (Pearson correlation: 0.533).

Waste management is one of the actionsof environmental management for improving environmental quality. This study describes the waste management in the campus through improvement of operational techniques, starting from container, collection, and transportation. Case study was taken in the university, which the amount of waste generation is about 166.559 kg/day or 0.013 L/person/day. The waste collection system is designed to use individual disaggregated sorting patterns that are adjusted to the composition of the waste, colour differentiation, and label of the container. Amount of sorted containers are 478 pieces. The waste collection system is planned by an indirect individual collection pattern and a temporary shelter plan in the form of a partition wall is adjusted to the composition of the waste. Planning for waste transportation system is using a fixed container system with motor cart under capacity of 2.3 m3 with 1 fleet. Transportation is carried out on a scheduled basis. Transportation management is arranged twice per-day for organic waste, once per-day for valuable waste, once per-week for hazardous waste, once every 2 days for other water. Transportation schedule is carried out twice per-day, in the morning and evening.

Some natural organic compounds (NOC) such as aromatic compounds can trigger the formation of disinfection by-products (DBPs). In chlorination (disinfectant) process resultant water quality depletes. Some safe alternative oxidants are needed for cleaning water pollutants. KMnO4 had shown better oxidation results, especially for reducing aromatic and non-aromatic organic compounds present in water. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of KMnO4 and Ca(OCl)2 oxidants on the concentration of high and low molecular weight organic matter including aromatic compounds in the water sample. In this experiment, artificial organic compounds, namely sinapic acid (high molecular weight aromatic compound) and resorcinol (low molecular weight aromatic compound) were used to identify the characteristic of organic matter under different molecular weights. Sinapic acid and resorcinol were oxidized by using KMnO4 and Ca(OCl)2 with a minimum contact time of 60 minutes. Samples were analyzed for aromatic contents and total organic carbon (TOC) before and after completion of the experiment by using UV-Vis spectrophotometer at 254 nm wavelength (UV254). It has been observed that both oxidants increased TOC concentration. Ca(OCl)2 produces a higher percentage of organic matter degradation by-products (DBPs) such as chloroform (CHCl3) a highly toxic compound than KMnO4. Since Ca(OCl)2 has a higher oxidation potential than KMnO4. It has been observed that KMnO4 is a safer oxidant than Ca(OCl)2 as potassium permanganate produces less amount of DBPs.

Chlorination is the most common disinfection method used in the drinking water production. Reactivity of chlorine with organic molecules could generate disinfection by-product (DBPs), which are harmful to the human health. Natural organic matter (NOM) is a complex mixture of chemicals existing in source water. Because of its complexity, it is conjectured that formation of many different DBPs can arise from the reaction of organic matter and a chemical disinfectant. This study used model compounds as NOM surrogates in order to reveal the specific organic fraction and DBPs formation potential removed by different coagulants. Model compounds, as an artificial sample, were made from a mixture of Suwannee River Humic Acid (SRHA), Suwannee River Fulvic Acid (SRFA), Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA), Alginic Acid (AA). Alum and FeCl3 were used as coagulants. The samples were analyzed for organic parameters, such as total organic carbon (TOC), ultraviolet at 254 nm wavelength (UV254), specific UV absorbance (SUVA), and organic fractionated by high performance size exclusion chromatograph with organic carbon detector (HPSEC-OCD). The concentration of trihalomethanes (THMs) and haloacetic acids (HAAs) was measured to present the DBPs formation. The results show alum and FeCl3 removed biopolymer (Peak A), humic substances-like (Peak B, Peak C) at the same percentage, while low molecular weight acid and neutral (Peak D) showed a higher removal with alum than FeCl3. HAAs removal led to a greater reduction than THMs removal, and FeCl3 showed a higher removal than the alum coagulant. It indicated that alum and FeCl3 coagulant have different ability in removing specific organic fractions, which are precursors of THMs and HAAs formation.

Wastewater has been giving a high contribution to the quality of water bodies. Tofu wastewater is one of the contributors since it might contain high organic loading. Microalgae is one of the promising solutions to improve wastewater treatment, especially organic wastewater. However, every microalga has its specific properties and it will affect the quality of treated wastewater. This study aims to compare Chlorella vulgaris and Spirulina platensis in an oxidation ditch algae reactor (ODAR) for treating tofu wastewater. The ODAR system was set up under ratio wastewater and microalgae 1:1, the sample was taken every day for 7 days of observation. The sample was analyzed for BOD, DO, and Chlorophyll-a. The results showed that Spirulina platensis has a higher performance in removing organic pollutants than Chlorella vulgaris, which is shown 60% BOD removal, higher DO concentration (5-8 mg/L), and 2,67 mg/L of Chlorophyll-a. Performance of Spirulina plantesis in treating organic wastewater was indicated as a fast-growing microalga than Chlorella vulgaris.

The renewed interest in alternative onsite treatment technology by using a constructed wetland (CW). Canna lily, an ornamental plant that has an aesthetic value, is very suitable for an alternative plant for a constructed wetland. This study aims to observe the ability of canna lily for phytotechnology implementation in a constructed wetland. This study is known as a range-finding test (RFT), which served as a preliminary test. Observation is conducted by preparing variation concentration of wastewater; 25%; 50%; 75%; 100% and 0% as control, which was injected into the wetland. CW (60 cm long, 60 cm wide and 60 cm deep) contained gravel medium height 25 cm with a wastewater volume 3 L. Observation measured the height of the plant, the color of the leaf, and DO, and BOD concentration. The observation was conducted for about 25 days, in term of 15 days for range finding test and 10 days for acclimation. The results show that Canna lily could grow well, though it has some part of the withered leaf, reach height significantly, and indicated decreasing concentration of organic parameters. It is conjectured that Canna lily is very possible for a constructed wetland application.

Laundry wastewater is one of the contributors to domestic wastewater since laundry services have been increasing in urban living, especially in big cities. Laundry wastewater may contain phosphate compounds, and the concentration should be reduced before discharge into water bodies. One of the easiest and friendly methods for removing phosphate in laundry wastewater is by using the adsorption process. Adsorption is influenced by the adsorbent material, and fly ash has been implemented as adsorbent due to its high capacity to adsorb pollutants. This study aims to observe the effect of adsorbent height in the column and the effect of flow rate to treat phosphate in laundry wastewater. This study applied Thomas modeling to determine the model for fly ash capacity as adsorbent. The results showed that the highest flow rate, 15 mL/min, and the highest fly ash height 20 cm gave the optimum removal of phosphate, about 98.63-99.22%. Besides, Thomas model obtained the value of the linear regression coefficient of 0.5415.

Wastewater containing various types of environmental pollutants, for example, Ammonia and phosphate. Wastewater disposal without proper handling will have an impact on environmental quality degradation, so it is necessary to wastewater treatment using an oxidation ditch reactor with a capacity of 500 liters with an operational volume of 250 liters. The variation treatment in this study was by using tofu wastewater (T) and skin tanning wastewater (PK) with direct sunlight and aeration process with 60 rpm rotation speed for 24 hours x 7 days. The results showed (T) was able to reduce the ammonia concentration by 94.1% from a value of 0.18 mg/L to 0.07 mg/L and a phosphate concentration of 75.3% from a value of 16.05 mg/L to 3.96 mg/L. Whereas the (PK) able to reduce the ammonia concentration by 94.1% from a value of 0.18 mg/L to 0.07 mg/L and a phosphate concentration of 41.4% from a value of 10.2 mg/L to 5.9 mg/L.

The increase in the electroplating industry resulted in a large number of heavy metal wastes that are harmful to the environment, for example, hexavalent chromium waste. The Bintaro which contains cellulose is considered as a potential adsorbent to remove heavy metals. Therefore, a comparative study on the adsorption capacity of continuous adsorption was carried out in reducing the concentration of heavy metal Cr6+ in electroplating wastewater. The characterization itself can be done by testing the moisture content and ash content and SEM testing. The study of the adsorption capacity in a continuous process is generally carried out with Thomas modeling, where this research is carried out by a continuous adsorption process with variations in the adsorbent mass of 50 grams, 100 grams, 150 grams, 200 grams, and 250 grams. The best results were obtained to remove Cr6+ metal which was 94.4% in the Bintaro shell adsorbent type with a mass of 250 grams. The continuous adsorption process obtained the highest Thomas constant (Kth) value and the highest adsorption capacity (qo), namely using Bintaro shell activated carbon with a mass of 250 grams with an absorbance capacity value of 0.443mg / g. The results showed that the activated carbon of Bintaro shell showed that they were quite effective as adsorbents in the adsorption process to remove heavy metal Cr6+

Spirulina platensis is a type of blue - green algae that has a micro-sized spiral shape and lives in marine waters. There are so many benefits of this microalgae, one of which is it can degrade organic pollutants in wastewater. Excessive nitrate and phosphate in the water can cause eutrophication which is indicated by the death of many sea biotas because of phytoplankton bloom. In this research, tofu which high in organic pollutants are used as experimental test media. The microalgae which will be tested is cultivated first to obtain a sufficient amount for research, then the microalgae are acclimatized before being put into an Oxidation Ditch Reactor mixed with tofu waste with a capacity of 250 liters, ran with 60 rpm brush aerator for 7 x 24 hours and also uses natural lighting from sunlight. samples were taken once a day at 12 noon each day. This research has a variety of wastewater: algae that are 1:1. From the results, it can be observed that Spirulina platensis microalgae could reduce maximum phosphate by 33,15 %, from 18,1 mg/L to 12,1 mg/. Furthermore, microalgae also capable of decreasing nitrates by 46,07 from 0,89 mg/L to 0,48 mg/L.

Cellulose contained in peanut shells which are agricultural waste is considered to be potential as an adsorbent for removing heavy metals. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the capacity of absorbance or the ability of meshes in the continuous adsorption process in removing heavy metal Fe in well water. The feasibility of an agricultural waste related to its use as an adsorbent has also been studied in this study through characterization by FTIR test which aims to determine the presence of cellulose organic compounds that play a role in the process of heavy metal adsorption. While the study of adsorption capacity in this study uses a continuous process that is generally carried out by Thomas modeling. Where in this study a continuous adsorption process was carried out to obtain saturation time from the adsorption of peanut shells in absorbing Fe metal. So that the absorbance capacity obtained from the once used activated carbon peanut shell has been made. In this study, a continuous adsorption process was carried out with a mass variation of 250 gr and 500 gr. This continuous adsorption process is obtained. The highest price of Constant Thomas (Kth) and the price of absorbance capacity (qo) is using activated carbon peanut shells with the use of 500 grams following the Thomas equation model y = -0.1701x + 3.3142 with a correlation coefficient (R²) = 0.4767 while the breakthrough point was reached in the 60th minute after well water through the bed

ABSTRA K Penanganan air limbah domestik Kota Surabaya selama ini dilakukan dengan 2 cara, yakni untuk blackwater dialirkan ke tangki septik dan greywater dialirkan ke drainase tanpa pengolahan. Hal ini menyebabkan peningkatan pencemar pada sungai sebagai air baku. Salah satu teknologi alternatif yang dapat diaplikasikan dengan mudah dan rendah biaya operasional dibanding pengolahan air limbah lainnya adalah constructed wetland dengan menggunakan tanaman I r is pseudoacorus sebagai kombinasi pengolahan biofilter dan proses fitoteknologi. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui efisiensi dari constructed wetland dengan tanaman I r is pseudoacorus untuk mengolah limbah domestik, serta menentukan bagaimana pengaruh dari adanya aerasi dan pengaruh waktu tinggal pada sistem constructed wetland dalam menurunkan bahan organik dan nitrogen pada air limbah. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam skala uji laboratorium menggunakan reaktor berkapasitas 30 liter. Air limbah dialirkan pada reaktor dengan waktu tinggal 2 hari dan 3 hari, dengan variasi aerasi dan efisiensi pencemar diukur dengan parameter BOD, dan ammonia. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa kemampuan penyisihan BOD, dan ammonia dari limbah air domestik oleh reaktor constructed wetland dengan tambahan aerasi dan waktu tinggal selama 4 hari sangat efektif. Reaktor ini mampu menurunkan nilai BOD hingga 96% dan nilai ammonia sebesar 97%. ABSTRA CT Wastewater domestic in Surabaya City has been treated in two methods, including septic tank for blackwater and directly discharged into drainage system for greywater. This caused an increasing pollutant loading in source water. Constructed wetland with Iris pseudoacorus , one of the alternative natural treatment technology through biofilter and phytotechnology process, could be applied easily and less costly to other treatment. This research was conducted to know the efficiency of constructed wetland with Iris pseudoacorus in domestic wastewater treatment, and to reveal the effect of aeration and detention time in reducing organic and nitrogen content in domestic wastewater. Experiment has been conducted on a laboratory scale of continue aerated reactor and without aeration as control reactor. Detention time (days) 2 and 3 was setup, then sample was taken for BOD and ammonia measurement. The results indicated that constructed wetland with aeration and detention time 4 days had a higher performance to remove BOD up to 96% and ammonia up to 97% than without aeration and less than 4 days process. Surface water may contain dissolved organic matter (DOM), which is derived from microbial activities in water and discharged from the watershed. Source water is mainly used as raw water for clean and drinking water, and DOM in water could affect the treated water quality. Therefore, it is necessary to remove DOM in water. This study aims to know the efficiency of removal of DOM by using alum coagulation followed by adsorption with activated carbon. In addition, this study applied the chromatograms method to identify the changing of DOM based on its molecular weight. The results show that raw water was composed of two main organic fractions: humic substances and low molecular weight acids and neutral.The humic substances organic fractions have been removed through alum coagulation up to 48%, and removal increased up to 85% through adsorption with activated carbon. The low molecular weight acids and neutral organic compounds have been removed about 85% and 40% in alum coagulation and adsorption,respectively.

Program Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat ini memiliki tujuan: 1) peningkatan kemampuan kewirausahaan santriwan-santriwati Pondok Pesantren Babussalam melalui potensi kemampuan membuat Desain Batik digital dan Blogspot, 2) peningkatan kesejahteraan santri dan pesantren yang lebih baik melalui pemanfaatan sumber daya yang memiliki nilai ekonomi, 3) terbentuknya usaha ekonomi pesantren dan kelembagaan yang terstruktur melalui unit usaha pesantren, 4) peningkatan kemampuan santri dan pesantren untuk melakukan diversifikasi produk. Kegiatan ini menggunakan dua pendekatan yaitu pendekatan pelatihan dan pendampingan. Pendekatan pelatihan meliputi : 1) Pelatihan Kewirausahaan; 2) Pelatihan dasar-dasar desain grafis, 3) Pelatihan digitalisasi desain batik, 4) Pelatihan pemanfaatan blogspot untuk media pemasaran. Sedangkan metode pendampingan meliputi :1) Pendampingan penguatan sumber daya manusia melalui peningkatan pemasaran, manajemen, dan motivasi berwirausaha; 2) Pendampingan pembentukan kelembagaan Unit Usaha Pesantren. Integrated constructed wetland into activated sludge process has a potential in improving treated wastewater with high organic loading. However, biological activities on those processes will generate microbial by-products from substrate metabolism and cell lysis. The presence of those compounds in effluent of wastewater treatment causes problems in source water. This study combines fluorescence excitation emission matrices (FEEM) with high-performance size exclusion chromatography with fluorescence detector (HPSEC-FLD) to characterize molecular weight–based fluorescent of organic matter and its removal in combination of constructed wetland with activated sludge process. The results show that three components of fluorescence organic: fulvic acid–like (Ex/Em 250/440 nm), SMP-like (Ex/Em 280/350 nm), humic acid–like (Ex/Em 340/420 nm), have been identified in all samples by the FEEM. Further, the HPSEC-FLD, which was set up based on chosen fluorescence wavelength, revealed two different apparent molecular weight (AMW) fractions: high molecular weight (HMW)/biopolymer (50,000 Da) and medium molecular weight (MMW)/humic substance–like (3000–650 Da). Peak-fitting determines that the area of MMW is higher than the area of HMW of all fluorescence organic components, and the area of HMW of fluorescence fulvic acid–like is comparable with the area of SMP-like, and no HMW of humic acid–like detected. Humic acid–like and fulvic acid–like were removed during treatment, while metabolite by-product were released as shown by increasing fluorescence SMP-like and TOC concentration. This method gives new insight to characterize organic matter for assessing effluent of wastewater quality and determining the appropriate water treatment.

Masyarakat Desa Tambak Rejo, Kecamatan Waru, Kabupaten Sidoarjo, masih mengunakan air sumur sebagai kebutuhan sehari-hari. Air sumur perlu dilakukan pengolahan agar layak dikonsumsi dengan menggunakan berbagai jenis media melalui proses filtrasi. Tujuan penelitian adalah mengetahui pengaruh jenis media terhadap penurunan TSS dan logam Fe yang terkandung pada air sumur gali dengan single media filter. Reaktor yang digunakan yaitu slow sand filter dengan aliran down flow kecepatan 0,4 m/jam. Parameter yang diuji adalah Total Suspended Solid (TSS) dan logam Fe. Variasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu jenis dan ketinggian media filter. Media yang digunakan yaitu pecahan gerabah, pasir bancar, dan manganese greensand dengan ketinggian media 20 dan 30 cm. Sampel yang digunakan adalah air sumur gali daerah Tambak Rejo, Waru Sidoarjo. Analisis TSS dengan metode Gravimetri dan Fe dengan Spektrofotometri. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukan media pasir bancar mampu bekerja lebih baik daripada media yang lainnya. Persentase penurunan konsentrasi TSS pada ketinggian 20 dan 30 cm sebesar 76,92% dan 80,00% dan penurunan konsentrasi Fe pada ketinggian 20 dan 30 cm sebesar 80,00% dan 84,19%. Hal ini menunjukan bahwa variasi jenis dan ketinggian media berpengaruh terhadap penurunan konsentrasi TSS dan Fe. Air yang dihasilkan telah memenuhi baku mutu air bersih sehingga aman untuk memenuhi kebutuhan rumah tangga. Well water needs to be processed so that it is suitable for consumption by using various types of media through the screening process. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of the type of media in decrease TSS and Fe contained in well water dug with a single media filter. The reactor used is a slow sand filter with a downflow speed of 0.4 m/hour. The parameters tested were Total Suspended Solid (TSS) and Fe. Variations in this study are the type and height of the filter media. The media used are pottery fragments, bancar sand, and manganese greensand with media heights of 20 and 30 cm. The sample used was well water dug in the area of Tambak Rejo Village, Waru District, Sidoarjo Regency. TSS analysis with Gravimetric and Fe methods with Spectrophotometry. The results obtained show that bancar sand media is able to work better than other media. The percentage decrease in TSS concentration at the height of 20 and 30 cm was 76.92% and 80.00% and a decrease in Fe concentration at the height of 20 and 30 cm was 80.00% and 84.19%.This shows that variations in the type and height of the media influence the decrease in TSS and Fe concentrations. Lumpur IPAL pada Kawasan Industri sampai saat ini belum dapat dimanfaatkan dengan baik, pemanfaatan lumpur IPAL menjadi briket merupakan salah satu upaya untuk mengatasi permasalahan limbah lumpur IPAL. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui lumpur IPAL dengan campuran serbuk gergaji kayu dapat dijadikan bahan bakar alternatif berupa briket, mengetahui pengaruh variasi lumpur IPAL dan serbuk gergaji kayu terhadap mutu briket berupa kadar abu, nilai kalor, kadar air , dan mengetahui komposisi terbaik antara lumpur IPAL dan serbuk gergaji kayu untuk menghasilkan nilai kalor optimum pada briket. Metodologi penelitian meliputi pengeringan bahan, karbonisasi bahan, penghalusan dan penyaringan bahan 20 mesh (841 µm), 40 mesh (420µm), dan 60 mesh (250 µm), pencetakan dan pengepresan briket, serta pengeringan briket. Selanjutnya dilakukan uji mutu briket, hasil analisis pada briket terbaik terdapat pada perbandingan 20 : 80 dengan menggunakan ayakan 60 mesh, memiliki nilai kalor 4366,8 kal/g, kadar air 1,26% dan kadar abu 1,32%. Nilai kalor pada briket masih belum memenuhi baku mutu dari SNI 4931 Tahun 2010, Minimnya nilai kalor yang dihasilkan bisa juga karena variabel perlakuan, dengan perbandingan yang dilakukan terhadap lumpur dan serbuk gergaji serta menggunakan ukuran ayakan yang berbeda. IPAL sludge in the Ngoro Persada Industry has yet to be utilized properly, utilizing IPAL sludge into briquettes is one of the efforts to solve this problem. The aim of this research was to determine the IPAL sludge with a mixture of wood sawdust can be used as an alternative fuel in the form of briquettes, to determine the effect of variations in IPAL sludge and wood sawdust on the quality of briquettes in the form of heat value, ash content and moisture content as well as knowing the best composition between IPAL sludge and wood sawdust to produce briquettes with the best heating value. The research methodology included material drying, carbonization of materials, refining and filtering of 20 mesh (841 μm), 40 mesh (420μm), and 60 mesh (250 μm), printing and pressing briquettes, and briquette drying. Furthermore, briquette quality testing was conducted, the results showed that the best briquettes were at a ratio of 20: 80 using 60 mesh s leve, having a heating value of 4366.8 cal / g, 1.26% moisture content and 1.32% ash content. The calorific value of briquettes still does not meet the quality standards of SNI 4931 of 2010, the lack of heat value produced can also be due to treatment variables, with the comparison carried out on sludge and wood sawdust and using different sieve sizes. Kehadiran NOM menurunkan kualitas air baku untuk air minum dengan mengubah sifat organoleptik, mengganggu sistem pengendapan dan meningkatkan penggunaan koagulan, menyebabkan penyumbatan pada saringan dan distribusi air minum. Komponen NOM, seperti humic acids (HA) dan fulvic acids (FA) yang bereaksi dengan logam berat menyebabkan terbentuknya senyawa toksik dan berkontribusi terhadap pembentukan disinfection by products (DBPs) yang menyebabkan potensi adanya senyawa karsinogenik dalam pengolahan air minum secara konvensional. Salah satu metode penyisihan bahan organik dalam air adalah dengan peningkatan proses koagulasi, dengan pretreatment sebelum proses koagulasi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pengaruh pre -oksidasi dan koagulasi terhadap penyisihan bahan organik pada air Kali Jagir yang digunakan untuk produksi air minum. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, konsentrasi TOC pada air baku sebesar 11,67 mg/liter dan nilai UV absorbansi 254 nm sebesar 0,10895 cm -1 , sehingga diperoleh nilai SUVA sebesar 0,934 L/mg/cm, sehingga diketahui karakteristik pada air Kali Surabaya yang cenderung hidrofilik dengan berat molekul rendah dan kebanyakan bukan humik yang mengindikasikan bahwa air tersebut dihasilkan dari kegiatan domestik dan industri. Pada kombinasi pre- oksidasi dan koagulasi, CaOCl 2 dengan dosis 25 mg/liter mampu menurunkan TOC dari 11,67 mg/liter menjadi 9,11 mg/liter, sedangkan permanganat dengan dosis 0,8 mg/liter hanya mampu menurunkan TOC dari 11,67 mg/liter menjadi 11,25 mg/liter. Kombinasi pre- oksidasi dan koagulasi mampu menurunkan bahan organik aromatik, ditunjukkan dengan nilai absorbansi UV 210 air baku yaitu 1,4983 cm -1 menjadi 1,2720 cm -1 dengan pre -oksidasi KMnO 4 -koagulan Al 2 (SO 4 ) 3 dan 1,3152 cm -1 pada pre -oksidasi CaOCl 2 -koagulan Al 2 (SO 4 ) 3 . The presence of NOM reduces air quality for drinking water with changes in organoleptic properties, deposition systems and increased use of coagulants, blockages in filters and distribution of drinking water. NOM components, such as humic acid (HA) and fulvic acid (FA) which are printed with heavy metals cause the formation of toxic compounds and contribute to product disinfection (DBPs) which produce potential carcinogenic compounds in conventional drinking water treatment. One method of removing organic matter in water is by increasing the coagulation process, with pretreatment before the coagulation process. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of pre-oxidation and coagulation on the removal of organic material in Kali Jagir water used for the production of drinking water. Based on the results of the analysis, TOC concentration in raw water is 11.67 mg/liter and UV absorbance value 254 nm is 0.10895 cm -1 , so that the SUVA value is 0.934 L/mg/cm, so it is known the characteristics of the Surabaya River water which tend to be hydrophilic with low molecular weight and most not humic which indicates that the water is produced from domestic and industrial activities. In a combination of preoxidation and coagulation, CaOCl 2 with a dose of 25 mg/liter was able to reduce TOC from 11.67 mg/liter to 9.11 mg/liter, while permanganate at a dose of 0.8 mg/liter was only able to reduce TOC from 11,67 mg/liter to 11.25 mg/liter. The combination of preoxidation and coagulation is able to reduce aromatic organic matter, indicated by the absorbance value of UV 210 of raw water, namely 1.4983 cm -1 to 1.2720 cm -1 with the KMnO 4 -coagulant Al 2 (SO 4 ) 3 and 1.3152 cm -1 preoxidation in preoxidation CaOCl 2 -coagulant (SO 4 ) 3 . The owner of refill drinking water stores (RDWS) have a big opportunities to expand their business since most of people need drinking water with the cheaper price than bottled drinking water. However, some issues regarding the quality of refill drinking water (RDW) have been arised recently, such as issue of pathogen existence in the treated water of RDW. This study aims are to measure the RDW quality and to identify the factors of failure risk of RDWS in treating RDW by using Ishikawa diagram. Study was carried out in 23 RDWS in Gunung Anyar District of Surabaya City. Sample was taken and measured for pH, turbidity, total dissolved solid (TDS), total coliform and Eschericia coli concentration. Ishikawa diagram was applied to reveal risk failure factors of RDW treatment processes. The results show that microbiology parameters was not fulfilled the drinking water quality standard. Ishikawa diagram found that man, material, method, machine, monitoring and evaluation for environment were the factors of failure risk. Therefore it is necessary to provide recommendations to reduce the failure risk of microbiology parameters through UV or Ozone contact time of at least 4 minutes, routine monitoring of treatment units, preparing procedure operational standard.

Sehubungan dengan masalah persampahan, umumnya disebabkan oleh tingginya kuantitas timbulan sampah yang tidak dikelola. Salah satu upaya untuk menanggulangi permasalahan sampah kota, khususnya di tingkat wilayah terendah atau level Rukun Tetangga/Rukun Warga (RT/RW) dengan membentuk bank sampah menjadi penting. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang dilakukan bertujuan untuk melakukan sosialisai kepada warga di Perumahan SK RT 13/RW 5 Sidoarjo tentang pengelolaan sampah plastik, kertas dan logam melalui bank sampah. Pengabdian masyarakat dilaksanakan dengan tahapan menyajikan hasil penerapan pengelolaan sampah melalui bank sampah yang telah dilaksanakan di perumahan lain, dan menyampaikan rencana teknis pengelolaan sampah melalui bank sampah yang akan dilaksanakan di Perumahan SK RT 13/RW 5 Sidoarjo. Pengembangan bank sampah di perumahan akan membantu warga dan pemerintah lokal untuk mengelola sampah berbasis komunitas secara bijak dan dapat mengurangi sampah yang diangkut ke Tempat Pembuangan Akhir (TPA). Sampah tercecer, kegiatan pemulung dan kebutuhan kas merupakan dasar pemikiran terhadap perlunya implementasi bank sampah. Rencana teknis pelaksanaan dimulai dari pendidikan sampah, sosialisasi, pembentukan koordinator, pemberian kantong, pemilahan, pengumpulan sampai dengan penjualan sampah plastik, kertas, dan logam. Koordinator dan pengurusnya menjadi pelaku langsung yang memberikan dorongan terhadap kelancaran program di masyarakat. Hasil dari pengelolaan sampah akan berdampak kepada masyarakat, dari segi lingkungan,kesehatan, sosial budaya dan ekonomi. Kata kunci: sampah; sosialisasi; bank sampah. ABSTRACTDomestic trash issues has been developing into one of the main environmental issues, due to increasing domestic trashh inline with increasing population. A trash bank is one of the trash management for solving trash issues, which is implemented in home and its surrounding or known as Rukun Tetangga/Rukun Warga (RT/RW). RT/RW is lowest level of community. The aim of this study is to encourage community at RT 13/RW 5 SK Residence of Sidoarjo in handling plastic, papers, metals trash through a trash bank. The basic idea of implementation a trash bank was unmanaged trash, scavenger activities. The technical plan for trash bank implementation was strated from educational, encouragement, coordination, sharing a trash bag, separation, collection until selling plastics, used papers, metals trash. Coordinator and the representatives persons will be the leader and motivator to encourage the community for implementing trash bank in order to manage trash. The trash management will give benefit for society, environmental, health, social culture and economic. Keywords: trash; encourage; trash bank.

Algal photobioreactor is a translucent reactor equipped with media supply installation and gas emissions to cultivate microalgae with CO2. Alga as an autotroph organism, growth mechanism following photosynthesis system which use light exposure to develop and growth the algae cells. There are abiotic, such as light, and biotic factors. This study analyses the performance of Chlorella sp. within intense light intensity (6, 12, 18, and 24 hour) variable with using UV fluorescence. The environment condition and growth rate were analysed of microalgae in the photobioreactor. R reactor control have reducing performance to remove phosphate concentration. Nevertheless, is not clearly explain the direct connection between nutrient and light intensity. Algal growth influenced by the intense of light intensity (hours exposure), and likely will affect to nutrient concentration in the photobioreactor. Light intensities in this research is not directly affect to algal biomass production, while the light intensities might be low to enhance the biomass.

Surface water contains organic matters from human activities, discharged industrial wastewater, and generated from microbial activities in water body. Persulfate is one of the strongest oxidants and could be used to oxidize organic matters. Fluorescence excitation emission matrices is one of the qualitative methods to identify organic matters properties, instead of chromatography and ultraviolet visible detection. The objective of this study was to identify dissolved organic matter in source and treated water by using peroxidation activated persulfate followed by coagulation. Sampel was analysed by using fluorescence excitation emission matrices (FEEMs) to assess its properties. The results showed that Activated persulfate has a good performance as pretreatment, in order to oxidize organic matters, further the coagulation is suitable treatment to combine with peroxidation activated persulfate. Those treatment resulted lower fluorescence intensity in all regions, including aromatic protein, fulvic acid-like, soluble microbial products, and humic acid-like.

Adanya peluang bagi banyak industri untuk membuka depot air minum isi ulang (DAMIU), khususnya di Kecamatan Gunung Anyar, Surabaya. Isu yang muncul saat ini adalah rendahnya jaminan kualitas terhadap air minum isi ulang (AMIU) yang dihasilkan DAMIU. Jumlah koliform yang semakin besar menunjukkan kemungkinan bakteri patogen yang hidup di air yang terkontaminasi pencemaran. Meninjau permasalahan tersebut, maka kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk menginformasikan kepada pengusaha DAMIU di Kecamatan Gunung Anyar tentang hasil pendataan teknologi pengolahan AMIU yang digunakan, menginformasikan hasil kualitas AMIU dari masing-masing DAMIU, menginformasikan risiko penyebab yang mempengaruhi kualitas AMIU dan memberikan rekomendasi upaya mengurangi risiko kegagalan produksi AMIU kepada pengusaha DAMIU. Sejumlah DAMIU menggunakan teknologi sinar UV sebesar 16 depot, teknologi sinar UV-Ozone sebesar 5 depot, teknologi RO sebesar 1 depot, sedangkan terdapat 1 depot tidak menggunakan teknologi desinfeksi. Analisa dari kegagalan kualitas air minum isi ulang pada parameter mikrobiologis (total koliform dan Eschericia coli ). Risiko penyebabnya adalah karena sumber daya manusia, sumber air baku, metode, sarana dan prasaran, pengawasan dan evaluasi. Oleh karena itu perlu diberikan rekomendasi untuk mengurangi risiko kegagalan parameter mikrobiologis melalui waktu kontak UV atau Ozon minimal 4 menit, monitoring rutin perawatan unit pengolahan, menyusun standar operasional prosedur. Kata k unci: air minum isi ulang; risiko; eschericia coli; total koliform; desinfeksi ABSTRACT There are opportunities for many industries to open refill drinking water stores (RDWS), especially in Gunung Anyar District, Surabaya. Some issues have been arised recently, such as issue of low quality assurance of drinking water produced by RDWS. The greater number of coliforms indicates the possibility of pathogenic bacteria that live in contaminated water. Reviewing these problems, community service activities were carried out with the aim of informing to RDWS owner in Gunung Anyar District about the results of data collection on RDW processing technology used, informing the results of RDW quality from each RDWS, informing the risk of causes affecting RDW quality and providing recommendations to reduce the failurd risk of RDW production to RDWS owner. Regarding disinfection technology, about 16 stores applied ultraviolet technology, UV-Ozone was used by stores, and the remain used RO technolog. Analysis of the failure of refill drinking water quality on microbiology parameters (total coliform and Eschericia coli). Those risk were arised due to human resources, raw water sources, methods, facilities and infrastructure, monitoring and evaluation. Therefore it is necessary to provide recommendations to reduce the risk of failure of microbiologyl parameters through UV or Ozone contact time of at least 4 minutes, routine monitoring of treatment units, preparing procedure operational standard. Oxidation Ditch (OD) has been widely used for domestic wastewater treatment technology, especially in Indonesia. In its operation, an OD uses a rotor to increase oxygen concentration. This rotational speed of the rotor will be valuable in OD performance for decreasing contaminants, especially nutrients. Remaining high concentration of nutrients at the end of the processing unit might generate environmental issues. This study analyses the effect of rotational speed on pilot scale OD. Rotation speed conducted were 45 rpm and 60 rpm. The study was conducted for five days by measuring nitrate, phosphate, dissolved oxygen, temperature and pH. The difference between 45 and 60 rpm on nitrate reduction was not significant. The decrease in total P at 45 and 60 rpm tended to increase steadily until the fourth day but experienced a slight decrease on day 5. The complexity of N and P processes in OD pilot scale units were much noticable. Efficient removal of nitrate concentrations was influenced by the lack of anoxic conditions to enable the denitrification process. Supplementary wastewater treatment unit was needed to reduce nutrient levels.
