The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about an unprecedented reliance on digital technologies in education, regardless of the pre-existing attitude of teachers. This study explores elementary school teachers' perceptions about teaching mathematics through distance education. Using a quantitative approach, an online questionnaire was administered to primary teachers in the UAE during the spring semester of 2020-2021. The results show teachers' readiness to adopt digital technology in teaching against increased workload. Difficulties emerged in optimizing student performance in online environments. While the institution supports digital integration, teachers prefer traditional in-person classroom instruction. Therefore, the research would inform some educational systems and curriculum planning worldwide on the best way to integrate digital technology within elementary mathematics education. The study aims to close the gap in mathematics education within a digital context to solve the emerging educational demands.

Hackathon has been growing and taking various industries by storm thanks to its flexibility and ability to fit into them. It has been proven successful and helpful in solving different IT and non-IT challenges. They also serve as an intriguing educational and networking tool, encouraging people to pursue innovative studies and activities. However, a hackathon is like a two-edged sword with its downsides -- it requires significant investment and can fail if mismanaged. It is critical to recruit and gather participants suitable to face a particular technological or non-technological challenge and to motivate a group to perform innovative action and benefit from the learning-by-doing approach. This paper identifies 21 reasons to attend hackathons backed by existing research and presents a study conducted on 109 hackathon participants that help to score, rank and explain those attributes. Results have proven the importance of challenge and networking over monetary prizes and glory.

Urodynamic testing is an invasive procedure that causes pain and anxiety. Patient education is an evidence-based nursing intervention that relieves pain and anxiety and increases patient satisfaction. This study was carried out to compare the effects of different education methods utilized before a urodynamic testing procedure on patients' pain, anxiety, readiness for the procedure, and satisfaction. The study is a randomized controlled clinical trial. Participants (n = 80) were randomly assigned to four groups. While patients in the control group were provided with routine clinical information, patients in the intervention group were given education with brochures, videos, and brochure-supported videos. The research data were collected by using a Data Collection Form with items about participants' descriptive characteristics, the Visual Analog Scale, and the State Anxiety Inventory. It was determined that pain expectation before urodynamics and the severity of pain during urodynamics were lower in intervention groups than in the control group. Pain expectation before urodynamics was lower in the brochure-supported video education group than in the brochure education group. Anxiety levels were lower and satisfaction levels were higher in the video education and brochure-supported video education groups than in the control and brochure education groups. Of the methods utilized, it was determined that the most effective one was brochure-supported video education as it affected all parameters positively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aimed to compare the achievements of the students who attended the Environmental Design Project course at Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) in various years with the face-to-face (FE) and distance (OE) education methods. The study was conducted with 130 students. In the initial stage, ANOVA was conducted to determine whether there was a difference between student attitudes towards FE and OE methods in the Environmental Design Project studio. In the second stage, the research problem, namely "Does the implementation of landscape architecture environmental design project instruction with FE and OE methods affect the academic achievements of the students? was investigated and a quasi-experimental study with a control group was conducted on the achievement test (50 questions) results. The achievement test was applied to the students who took environmental design lessons for one semester (14 weeks) with both methods before the 14-week semester (pre-test) and after the semester (post-test). There was no statistical difference between the pre-test scores of both groups (p > 0.05), while there was a difference (p < 0.05) between the post-test scores. This finding demonstrated that there was a significant difference between the effects of these two methods on the academic success of the students.

Abstract Objective To compare the effectiveness of different oral hygiene education strategies on periodontal health in fixed orthodontic patients in a one-month period: assistant-led instruction, social media-based education, and custom-made software. Methods Sixty orthodontic patients from Mashhad University of Medical Sciences’ Dentistry School were randomly assigned into three groups. Each group received oral health education differently: via assistant instruction, educational videos on social media, or a researcher-designed software for Android smartphones. After a month, participants’ oral health was evaluated using the plaque index (PI) and the gingival index (GI). Results Assistant-led education group demonstrated the highest PI (1.26 ± 0.70) and GI (0.92 ± 0.67), while the software group reported the lowest indices (PI = 0.68, GI = 0.46 ± 0.46). The social media group’s measurements fell between these extremes (PI = 0.89 ± 0.75, GI = 0.60 ± 0.52). Significant group differences were found for both PI and GI (P = 0.028 and P = 0.047, respectively). Pairwise comparison revealed significantly lower PI and GI in the software group compared to the assistant group. No significant differences were found between the social media and other groups. Conclusion Our results suggest that the use of specially designed software could be the most effective strategy for improving oral hygiene in orthodontic patients. Meanwhile, traditional assistant-led education showed the least effectiveness. The study supports the potential benefit of utilizing digital tools, such as bespoke software and social media, in oral health education for orthodontic patients. Background. In recent decades, epidemics of various infectious diseases have occurred. Despite the health authorities' educational efforts to provide people with adequate information, there is not enough evidence regarding the evaluation and effectiveness of educational methods. Therefore, the present study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of educational methods provided for the public during epidemics of infectious diseases from people's perspective. Methods. This cross-sectional study was conducted in Iran in 2023. The participants included individuals who were older than 15 years and were living in Iran during the recent epidemics. We used a tailored questionnaire consisting of 14 questions to gather information. The validity of the questionnaire was ensured by calculating the content validity index and ratio. Furthermore, its reliability was confirmed through a pilot study. The participants were selected using convenience sampling. In order to collect data, the questionnaire was distributed to the target group both electronically and in person. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS software (version 24) with normality tests conducted, and any P-value below 0.05 was considered significant. Results. A total of 278 individuals participated in the study, with the majority being women (61.9%). The average age of the participants was 33.9 years old. Most of the participants had a bachelor's degree (43.2%). According to the results of the study, social networks were identified as the most commonly used source for receiving educational materials during infectious disease epidemics (76.8%), and they were also considered to be the most effective source (87.6%). Additionally, based on the participants' opinions, social networks outperformed other information sources (78%). Face-to-face education provided by healthcare workers was identified as the most trusted educational source (81.6%), and the participants recommended this method to others more than any other method (82.4%). Interviews with healthcare experts and in-person education provided by healthcare workers were perceived as the most effective educational methods by the people surveyed (60.4%). Furthermore, the results indicated that as individuals age, their reliance on sources of information like the Internet, social networks, and newspapers tends to decrease. Conclusion. The results of the current study can provide valuable information for policymakers on educating the public during epidemics of communicable diseases, as well as help them make quick, effective, and evidence-based decisions.

Fundamentals of Database Systems is a core course in computing disciplines as almost all small, medium, large, or enterprise systems essentially require data storage component. Database System Education (DSE) provides the foundation as well as advanced concepts in the area of data modeling and its implementation. The first course in DSE holds a pivotal role in developing students' interest in this area. Over the years, the researchers have devised several different tools and methods to teach this course effectively, and have also been revisiting the curricula for database systems education. In this study a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) is presented that distills the existing literature pertaining to the DSE to discuss these three perspectives for the first course in database systems. Whereby, this SLR also discusses how the developed teaching and learning assistant tools, teaching and assessment methods and database curricula have evolved over the years due to rapid change in database technology. To this end, more than 65 articles related to DSE published between 1995 and 2022 have been shortlisted through a structured mechanism and have been reviewed to find the answers of the aforementioned objectives. The article also provides useful guidelines to the instructors, and discusses ideas to extend this research from several perspectives. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first research work that presents a broader review about the research conducted in the area of DSE.

This research aims to investigate the impact of three different training methods (digital game, drill, and traditional education) on the motivation of the students to teach earthquake preparedness and earthquake prevention knowledge to primary school students. The explanatory design from the mixed-methods research was used in the study. The sample of the study consists of 294 students at the fourth-grade level in three different elementary schools in one of Turkey's easternmost provinces. At the end of different educational methods, the motivation scale about the course was used to determine the motivations of the students. Focus group interviews were conducted with students randomly selected from each study group to examine in depth the reasons for the differentiation of motivation levels of the students. The findings showed that students who participated in the traditional education method were more motivated than the other methods of teaching. Besides, students who study with the digital game were found to be less motivated. In this study, the limitations and advantages of educational methods in terms of motivation were examined in-depth, and the reasons affecting motivation were discussed. The results can provide important insights to educators, educational game designers, and educational politicians.

In this essay, we explore ways in which cultural and museum spaces can be opened up to meaningful discussions about difficult topics and how this can be done through specific educational formats. We attempt to look critically at some of the assumptions that are around in critical museum education theory and practices, e.g. influences coming from standpoint theory. The goal is to understand our own unconscious biases as we develop methods to help address problematic issues such as racism and anti-Semitism. We argue that these biases are shaped by a logic of dichotomy that allows to position oneself on "the good side." Especially in an atmosphere of scandalization, these dichotomies might hinder mutual learning situations. We propose using Michael Rothberg's concept of the "implicated subject" to develop approaches and methods that move beyond dichotomous thinking patterns. We will try to illustrate our reflection process with three examples that also show that taking (one's own) implication seriously has unsettling effects that can stall the development of methods that seek to open spaces also for conflictual discussions.

The coexistence allows the adaptation of the aggressors and assaulted in school communities through artistic interaction techniques. Due to its transformational value, artivist education allows students to be involved in raising awareness of their environment as well as themselves. For this reason, the interest of the research was to determine the benefits of artivism in school coexistence. Three studies based on sustainability, school exchange and meaning analysis were carried out in 80 fifth and sixth grade primary students. Measurement scales and the log of experiences were used, from whose data it was obtained that there was greater sustainability of direct and democratic coexistence from the fourth month of experimentation with activities based on artivist education (Experiment 1), as well as effects on school exchange with greater emphasis on the democratic component (Experiment 2). The conclusions of the research invited to deduce that artivist education allowed coexistence to be made more sustainable through the strategies that subjects adopted from their peers, in turn, direct interaction allowed to propose a formative process of adaptation between assaulted and aggressors. As a contribution, the research highlights the adoption of new forms of student interaction with power groups to the extent of how and how they establish acceptability behaviors in the shared context.

Background and purpose: Utilizing engaging techniques, such as animation, to educate adolescents about oral health can significantly impact their knowledge and behavior, resulting in the prevention of periodontal diseases. The current study aimed to compare the effectiveness of health education utilizing animation vs traditional education methods in improving adolescents' attitudes, behavior, and periodontal markers. Materials and methods: In this interventional study, 371 students aged 13 to 15 were randomly selected by cluster sampling and divided into two groups: control (187 students) and intervention (184 students). Questionnaires and clinical examinations of the Gingival Index (GI), Plaque Index (PI), and Sulcus Bleeding Index (SBI) were completed before and four weeks following the intervention, and the data were entered into the SPSS software (v. 23). The Qur'an is Muslims' main miracle and encompasses values covering all aspects of life, including education methods. In the Qur'an, various methods are offered for education, such as dialogue, lectures, analogies, stories, advice, wisdom, rewards and punishments, and others. This article discusses implementing teenage education methods found in the Qur'an at SMAS Islam Roudlotun Nasyiin in Mojokerto Regency. This institution is relevant to the theme being discussed: teenagers entering adulthood. The research method used in this study is qualitative, employing two types of research: library research and field research. The survey results indicate that the most favored implementation of teenage education methods from the Qur'an at SMAS Islam Roudlotun Nasyiin is the dialogue method, which involves active interaction between teachers and students. However, this does not mean that other methods are neglected. Besides the dialogue method, habituation is also consistently practiced, such as performing Mutlaq sunnah prayers, giving alms, reading the Qur'an, and greeting teachers upon arrival at school. These methods aim to shape good morals and habits in teenagers.

Objective: To compare the effects of different educational methods on short and long-term learning outcomes and to investigate the satisfaction and perception of cleft lip and palate (CLP) education among dental students., Design: The theoretical exam on CLP to determine their baseline level of knowledge was taken by the participants(T0). After the exam, the students were randomly divided into three groups and all students attended a lecture-based traditional education on CLP. Students in the first group (n = 40) received no additional teaching (Group A). Students in the second group (n = 38) received model teaching with 3D-printed models (Group B). The third group (n = 39) was trained in e-learning-supported education (Group C). The theoretical exam was repeated immediately after the education (T1/short-term learning), one week later (T2/early long-term learning), and one month later (T3/late long-term learning), and the effect of the education methods on information level was assessed. In addition, a post-training satisfaction questionnaire was administered to participants of Group B and Group C., Results: Both 3D model-based and e-learning-supported approaches significantly improved immediate knowledge of CLP. However, no significant differences were found in knowledge retention over time between the all methods. A majority of students favored the incorporation of both methods in orthodontic education., Conclusions: While both 3D models and e-learning effectively enhance short-term CLP knowledge among dental students, their long-term educational impacts are comparable. Abstract Background With the prevalence of new technologies and evolving student learning styles, virtual teaching methods have become increasingly popular. As a result, more and more students are opting to learn online. However, one common concern is that they may feel disconnected from their teachers, leading to feelings of loneliness and doubts about the quality of education they are receiving. To address this issue, a study was conducted to gather data on students' preferences for virtual education and to validate a tool for measuring students' preferences for virtual education. Methods The research was conducted in a mixed method with a quantitative–qualitative sequence. A virtual education preferences questionnaire (VEPQ) for students with a total of 17 items was created and validated as part of the qualitative component by looking at the theoretical underpinnings and experts' opinions in the focus group. The scale of the six-point Likert questionnaire was from very high to very low. To validate the tool and determine preferences, exploratory factor analysis was used. A total of 155 samples answered the questions and the data were analyzed using SPSS-24 software. Results A total of 155 complete questionnaires were returned; among them, 110 (71%) were filled out by women, 73 (47.1%) by respondents between the ages of 36 and 45, 107 (69%) were already employed in paramedical fields, and 48 (31%) were enrolled in a medical school. The opinions of ten experts were used to confirm the face validity of the questionnaire. With CVI = 0.924 and CVR = 0.805, content validity was verified. Using the internal consistency method of the questions with a Cronbach's alpha coefficient of R = 0.824, the validity of the entire questionnaire was confirmed. Exploratory factor analysis revealed that a total of five components—self-directed projects (29.58%), e-content (13.00%), online presentation (10.97%), face-to-face interactions (9.12%), and text interactions (7.11%) had the highest load, with a total of 69.77% of the structure explaining virtual education preferences. The present study aims to investigate the subjects of the works written on moral and citizenship education during the Tanzimat period and after and the methods considered for these courses. The other aim of this study is to demonstrate that the Ottoman educators were not unaware of the methods implemented in the lessons in today's modern education system and the education system of Ottoman was well aware of these methods. The present study was carried out by means of document analysis methods. Works and articles written with the Tanzimat period and after teaching approach and method were investigated. The approaches and methods that the Ottoman educators used in the moral and citizenship education were termed this way by reviewing their content by the researchers of this study. The results of the study demonstrated that the educators of the Ottoman Empire were well aware of the modern teaching techniques and used them in moral and citizenship education.

The impact of a complex of interactive computer algebra system (CAS) based methods with usage of supplementary education materials (e.g., interactive presentations, computer modeling patterns and supplementary home tasks prepared in CAS Mathematica) on the education outcomes in the subject "Probability theory and mathematical statistics" was estimated. A comparative analysis of education outcomes for two groups of third-year students of engineering specialization taught in Bauman Moscow State Technical University was carried out. Group I of 72 students was taught in the year 2016-17 using teaching methods including only lectures and seminars, without usage of supplementary interactive materials. A written control work was chosen as a tool of examination; its results were used as a means of assessment of education outcomes achieved by the students in the first module "Probability theory" of the semester course. The results demonstrated by Group I proved not to be satisfactory for achieving the aims of education: successful continuation of learning the next modules, and further usage in professional practice. After detailed analysis of the students' works and interviewing them, the basic difficulties in understanding and interpretation of the tasks were clarified. Consequently, Group II of 70 students taught in the year 2017-18 in the same specialization as Group I, was provided with new variants of home tasks and supplementary sets of interactive materials to study on lectures and seminars, as well as for independent study at home. The students of Group II have demonstrated significantly higher outcomes as compared to the students of Group I.

Early childhood educators teach science to all students, including students with disabilities. Strategies for accommodating students with disabilities in science, including familiarity with equitable frameworks such as Universal Design for Learning (UDL) are therefore a critical aspect of early childhood teacher candidates' pedagogical content knowledge (PCK). Such strategies are often emphasized in special education courses that are offered separately from science methods courses. This practice assumes that teacher candidates can synthesize and transfer those practices into their science lesson planning. To explore how teacher candidates actually assimilate the instruction on inclusive science that is taught in their preparation coursework, this study examined the early and late semester science lesson plans of 26 early childhood teacher candidates who were concurrently enrolled in science and special education methods courses. Qualitative and discourse analysis illuminated the following key findings: 1) Teacher candidates demonstrate a strong tendency to accommodate students with disabilities by having them rely on others both before and after extensive instruction; 2) Instruction appears to reduce teacher candidates' accommodating students with disabilities through separate materials/activities/directions; 3) Principles of UDL were more evident in late semester lesson plans; and 4) Late semester lesson plans contained more "behavior oriented" language and concerns. These findings are discussed with particular attention paid to ways in which science and special education teacher educators might intervene at key junctures in teacher candidates' lesson planning processes to promote student autonomy, science inquiry, and greater use of the continuum of adaptations that are available to them.

The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of audio-tactile performance (ATP) versus other oral health education methods in improving the oral health status of visually challenged children and adolescents. The review was carried out based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. A systematic search was performed on the effectiveness of ATP in improving the oral health of visually impaired children. The search was conducted in Scopus, Google Scholar, PubMed, Embase, Lilacs, Web of Science, and Cochrane until December 2022. The risk-of-bias tool for randomized trials (RoB-2) was used to analyze the risk of bias. Meta-analysis was carried out for included studies that made similar comparisons and reported the same outcome measures. The initial search retrieved 368 records, of which nine studies were included for qualitative synthesis. Out of the nine included studies, five studies were included for quantitative synthesis. Two studies evaluating plaque index at 180 days (MD = -0.10; p = 0.0009; CI = -0.17 to -0.02) and five studies evaluating gingival index at 90 days (MD = -0.15; p < 0.00001; CI= -0.21 to -0.09) exhibited a significant mean difference favoring ATP. Three studies that evaluated gingival index at 30 days and 180 days showed significant mean differences (MD = -0.27; p < 0.000; CI = -0.40 to -0.15 and MD = -0.09; p = 0.01; CI= -0.15 to -0.02) favoring ATP. The ATP technique produced significant improvements in oral health when compared with other conventional techniques. Adequate infectious disease-specific health literacy (IDSHL) is of benefit to residents in dealing with infectious diseases. This study aimed to investigate the methods by which residents acquire knowledge about infectious disease prevention and control (IDPC knowledge) so as to find effective health education methods used to improve residents' IDSHL level. In 2022, a cross-sectional study was conducted in Shandong Province, China. Participants were recruited from rural areas by multistage sampling. The IDPC knowledge cognitive questionnaire, as a reliable and valid tool, was applied to data collection and to investigate the participants' IDPC knowledge. Chi-square analysis was utilized to analyze the differences in possession level of IDSHL between different subgroups. The relationship between demographic factors and methods to acquire IDPC knowledge was also examined by chi-square analysis. The possession rate of adequate IDSHL among the total 2283 participants was 31.80%. There was a significant association between IDSHL level and socio-demographic factors, including age (P < .001), sex (P = .02), education (P < .001), occupation (P < .001), annual family income (P < .001), whether to use smartphones (P < .001), whether to browse WeChat on smartphones (P < .001), and whether to browse apps on smartphones except WeChat (P < .001). Univariate analysis showed that whether to adopt specific methods, including television (P = .02), WeChat on smartphones (P < .001), propaganda of infectious disease prevention and control (P < .001), and doctor's advice (P < .001) to acquire IDPC knowledge had significant associations with IDSHL level. Age (P < .001), education (P < .05), occupation (P < .05), and annual family income (P < .01) were associated with methods to acquire IDPC knowledge. The rural residents' adequate IDSHL in Shandong Province, China, was not optimistic. Purpose: Determine if different technology-based health education interventions can reduce oral health inequalities between the sexes in a sample of adolescents., Methods: A cluster randomized clinical trial was conducted in three phases with an initial sample of 291 male and female adolescents 14-19 years of age. Phase I (n = 288) comprised a clinical examination performed by a calibrated examiner using the simplified oral hygiene index (OHI-S) and gingival bleeding index (GBI). Phase II involved two educational interventions: video (VD; n = 147) or oral counselling (OR; n = 141) with standardized content. In phase III, an App was made available to half of the clusters (OR + App; n = 66/OR without App; n = 71/VD + App; n = 63/VD without App; n = 63), and the clinical examination was performed a second time. Data were evaluated using descriptive analysis and nonparametric tests., Results: In phase I, boys had a lower standard of oral hygiene compared with girls, with higher mean OHI-S (p = 0.039) and GBI (p = 0.015). After VD and OR interventions, no significant difference between sexes was found regarding the mean OHI-S. However, males had a higher mean GBI compared with females in the OR group (p = 0.006). When the App was added to OR and VD groups, males in the 'OR without App' group had a higher mean GBI compared with females (p = 0.007)., Conclusion: This clinical trial demonstrated that educational interventions involving information technologies were effective at reducing oral health inequalities between the sexes among adolescents. Background: Children spend significant amounts of time at school, making the school environment a potentially important contributor to air quality exposure. Aim: The SAMHE initiative has a dual aim: 1) to develop and test a bespoke citizen science framework for collecting environment and indoor air quality data in classrooms, alongside contextual data capable of enriching analysis, at an unprecedented scale; and, 2) to simultaneously use these methods to raise awareness among communities regarding their exposure to air pollution in the school environment. Methodology: To achieve this dual aim, the SAMHE project was initiated to deploy more than 2 000 low-cost indoor air quality monitors in school classrooms. A Web App has been co-designed with schools to support collecting a large comprehensive dataset (including school buildings characteristics, operation, and behavioural patterns) and to enable students and teachers to interact with the data gathered in their school. Results and outlook: We present the design of the interface and visuals that have been co-designed with 20+ schools and tested with 120+ schools. Within one week of the SAMHE launch week, 537 schools had registered to join the project, and at the time of writing (just seven weeks later) this number had grown to around 800 schools. This highlights the potential for this novel initiative to provide a step-change in the way that indoor air quality datasets are gathered at a national and, potentially, international level while simultaneously enabling schools to better manage their indoor environment and empowering students and teachers to reduce their environmental health risks.

The purpose of the presented article is to review existing approaches to modern training methods design and to create a variant of its technology in virtual educational environments in order to develop general cultural and professional students' competence in pedagogical education. The conceptual modeling of a set of methods for students' training in the conditions of an information-and-communication saturated environment was carried out by means of a subject-design method within the framework of prescriptive theory. This allowed us to allocate the stages in designing the methods of student training when using a virtual educational environment. The presented results reflect the general approach to the design of teacher activity including the design of training methods on the basis of accounting for the primary structural components of educational technologies. The given results of examining the features and the opportunities of the virtual educational environment allow us to define the essence of training methods enrichment as well as mechanisms of self-adjustment and self-improvement for a training methods system in educational information environments, and to formulate conclusions about the impossibility of creating modern educational processes without virtual educational environments.

God's formative education is man's education through formative factors beyond his control, which can be the basis for deriving human-to-human education methods. The purpose of the present research is to explain some methods of human education based on God's formative education. To achieve this goal, this research has used the descriptive method and analysis of Quranic verses. The verses of the Holy Quran indicate that human formative education has three general stages., is special. each of which has several educational bases. Following these three stages of educational education in the Quran, 15 educational methods have been extracted and explained for educators, which include: : Intellectual education, paying attention to the necessity of establishing and creating a suitable platform as well as paying attention to natural feelings, constantly reminding of blessings, the need to pay attention to the developmental aspects of affairs and trials and tribulations, and paying attention to the thought of death and observing the results of actions for the general stage. Accepting and recognizing weaknesses, creating peace and strength of heart, timely support and advocacy, evangelism and encouragement for a special formative education level. And also the educational method of creating love in the shadow of increasing insight and wisdom, giving responsibility and taking over for the special stage. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
