With the widespread application of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images in ship detection and recognition, accurate and efficient ship classification has become an urgent issue that needs to be addressed. In few-shot learning, conventional methods often suffer from limited generalization capabilities. Herein, additional information and features are introduced to enhance the understanding and generalization capabilities of the model for targets. To address this challenge, this study proposes a few-shot ship classification method for SAR images based on scattering point topology and Dual-Branch Convolutional Neural Network (DB-CNN). First, a topology structure was constructed using scattering key points to characterize the structural and shape features of ship targets. Second, the Laplacian matrix of the topology structure was calculated to transform the topological relations between scattering points into a matrix form. Finally, the original image and Laplacian matrix were used as inputs to the DB-CNN for feature extraction. Regarding network architecture, a DB-CNN comprising two independent convolution branches was designed. These branches were tasked with processing visual and topological features, employing two cross-fusion attention modules to collaboratively merge features from both branches. This approach effectively integrates the topological relations of target scattering points into the automated learning process of the network, enhancing the generalization capabilities and enhancing the classification accuracy of the model. Experimental results demonstrated that the proposed approach obtained average accuracies of 53.80% and 73.00% in 1-shot and 5-shot tasks, respectively, on the OpenSARShip dataset. Similarly, on the FUSAR-Ship dataset, it achieved average accuracies of 54.44% and 71.36% in 1-shot and 5-shot tasks, respectively. In the case of both 1-shot and 5-shot tasks, the proposed approach outperformed the baseline by >15% in terms of accuracy, underscoring the effectiveness of incorporating scattering point topology in few-shot ship classification of SAR images.

Abstract Coding transcript-derived siRNAs (ct-siRNAs) produced from specific endogenous loci can suppress the translation of their source genes to balance plant growth and stress response. In this study, we generated Arabidopsis mutants with deficiencies in RNA decay and/or post-transcriptional gene silencing (PTGS) pathways and performed comparative sRNA-seq analysis, revealing that multiple RNA decay and PTGS factors impede the ct-siRNA selective production. Genes that produce ct-siRNAs often show increased or unchanged expression and typically have higher GC content in sequence composition. The growth and development of plants can perturb the dynamic accumulation of ct-siRNAs from different gene loci. Two nitrate reductase genes, NIA1 and NIA2, produce massive amounts of 22-nt ct-siRNAs and are highly expressed in a subtype of mesophyll cells where DCL2 exhibits higher expression relative to DCL4, suggesting a potential role of cell-specific expression of ct-siRNAs. Overall, our findings unveil the multifaceted factors and features involved in the selective production and regulation of ct-siRNAs and enrich our understanding of gene silencing process in plants.

Abstract Backgrounds The intestinal development in early life is profoundly influenced by multiple biological components of breast milk, in which milk-derived extracellular vesicles (mEVs) contain a large amount of vertically transmitted signal from the mother. However, little is known about how maternal fiber-rich diet regulates offspring intestinal development by influencing the mEVs. Results In this study, we found that maternal resistant starch (RS) consumption during late gestation and lactation improved the growth and intestinal health of offspring. The mEVs in breast milk are the primary factor driving these beneficial effects, especially enhancing intestinal cell proliferation and migration. To be specific, administration of mEVs after maternal RS intake enhanced intestinal cell proliferation and migration in vivo (performed in mice model and indicated by intestinal histological observation, EdU assay, and the quantification of cyclin proteins) and in vitro (indicated by CCK8, MTT, EdU, and wound healing experiments). Noteworthily, miR-146a-5p was found to be highly expressed in the mEVs from maternal RS group, which also promotes intestinal cell proliferation in cells and mice models. Mechanically, miR-146a-5p target to silence the expression of ubiquitin ligase 3 gene NEDD4L, thereby inhibiting DVL2 ubiquitination, activating the Wnt pathway, and promoting intestinal development. Conclusion These findings demonstrated the beneficial role of mEVs in the connection between maternal fiber rich diet and offspring intestinal growth. In addition, we identified a novel miRNA-146a-5p-NEDD4L-β-catenin/Wnt signaling axis in regulating early intestinal development. This work provided a new perspective for studying the influence of maternal diet on offspring development. Graphical Abstract

Researches indicate miR-3200 is closely related to tumorigenesis, However, the role of miR-3200 in human hepatocarcinogenesis is still unclear. In this study, we clearly demonstrate that miR-3200 accelerates the growth of liver cancer cells in vivo and in vitro. Obviously, these findings are noteworthy that miR-3200 affects the transcriptional regulation for several genes, including DSP，BABAM2, Rab7A,SQSTM1,PRKAG2,CDK1,ABCE1,BECN1,PTEN,UPRT. And miR-3200 affects the transcriptional ability of several genes, such as, upregulating CADPS, DSP,FBXO32, PPCA,SGK1, PATXN7L1, PLK2,ITGB5,FZD3,HOXC8,HSPA1A,C-Myc,CyclnD1,CyclinE,PCNA and down –regulating SUV39H1, MYO1G, OLFML3, CBX5, PPDE2A, HOXA7, RAD54L, CDC45,SHMT7,MAD2L1,P27,IQGAP3,PTEN,P57,SCAMP3,etc...On the other hand, it is obvious that miR-3200 affects the translational ability of several genes, such as, upregulating GNS,UPRT,EIFAD,YOS1,SGK1,K-Ras,PKM2,C-myc,Pim1,CyclinD1,mTOR,erbB-2,CyclinE,PCNA,RRAS,ARAF,RAPH1,etc.. and down-regulating KDM2A, AATF, TMM17B, RAB8B, MYO1G,P21WAF1/Cip1,GADD45,PTEN,P27,P18,P57,SERBP1,RPL34,UFD1,Bax,ANXA6,GSK3β. Strikingly, miR-3200 affects some signaling pathway in liver cancer, including carbon metabolism signaling pathway, DNA replication pathway, FoxO signaling pathway, Hippo signaling pathway, serine and threonine metabolism signaling pathway, mTOR signaling pathway, Fatty acid biosynthesis signaling pathway, carcinogenesis-receptor activation signaling pathway, autophagy signaling pathway. Furthermore, our results suggest that miR-3200 enhances expression of RAB7A, and then Rab7A regulates the carcinogenic function of miR-3200 by increasing telomere remodeling in human liver cancer. These results are of great significance for the prevention and treatment of human liver cancer.

miRNA is a noncoding RNA found in recent years and more than one third of human genes are the target of miRNAs. miR-624, located on human chromosome 14, is associated with tumorigenesis. However, the role of miR-624 in human hepatocarcinogenesis is still unclear. Herein, our results indicate that miR-624 accelerates the growth of liver cancer cells in vivo and in vitro. Moreover, the modification distribution of H3K9me1 on chromosomes is different between rLV group and rLV-miR-624 group. miR-624 affects epigenetic regulation of several genes in human liver cancer cells, such as RAB21, SMARCD3, MAPK6,PRRX1, ZFHX3, EMC3 (TMEM111). Furthermore, miR-624 affects transcriptome of some genes in liver cancer, including RAB21， UBE2N， PPP1CC，KPNA3， RAB7A，CPEB2,KLF4， MARK2， JUN， ARF6， TMEM39A. On the other hand, miR-624 affects proteome of several genes in liver cancer, such as, RBM5,PTK2, KDM2A,POLR2H, POLR2G,CDK6,KIF15,CUL2,FKBP2,ErbB-3,JUN, PKM2, CyclinE,PLK1, mTOR, PPARγ, Rab7A,ARAF, UPF3B ，PTEN, SUZ12, GADD45, H3.3, CUL5, ARF6,EMC3,ATG4B,ATG14,CALR. Interestingly, miR-624 affects the RAB7A interaction network in liver cancer cells, involving in CLTC，ITGB1，HNRNPU， DARS1， RPS16， CTPS1，H3–3B，JUN,MYH10， CUL5， CPSF7. Strikingly, excessive MEC3 abrogates the carcinogenic functions of miR-624. Importantly, our findings indicate that miR-624 affects some signaling pathway in liver cancer, including Wnt signaling pathway，Hippo signaling pathway，mTOR signaling pathway, Ras signaling pathway，MAPK signaling pathway，PI3K-Akt signaling pathway, erbB signaling pathway. These results provide a basis for the treatment of human liver cancer.

Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) ship target detection has been extensively researched. However, most methods use the same dataset division for both training and validation. In practical applications, it is often necessary to quickly adapt to new loads, new modes, and new data to detect targets effectively. This presents a cross-domain detection problem that requires further study. This paper proposes a method for detecting SAR ships in complex backgrounds using fusion tensor and cross-domain adversarial learning. The method is designed to address the cross-domain detection problem of SAR ships with large differences between the training and test sets. Specifically, it can be used for the cross-domain detection task from the fully polarised medium-resolution ship dataset (source domain) to the high-resolution single-polarised dataset (target domain). This method proposes a channel fusion module (CFM) based on the YOLOV5s model. The CFM utilises the correlation between polarised channel images during training to enrich the feature information of single-polarised images extracted by the model during inference. This article proposes a module called the cross-domain adversarial learning module (CALM) to reduce overfitting and achieve adaptation between domains. Additionally, this paper introduces the anti-interference head (AIH) which decouples the detection head to reduce the conflict of classification and localisation problems. This improves the anti-interference and generalisation ability in complex backgrounds. This paper conducts cross-domain experiments using the constructed medium-resolution SAR full polarisation dataset (SFPD) as the source domain and the high-resolution single-polarised ship detection dataset (HRSID) as the target domain. Compared to the best-performing YOLOV8s model among typical mainstream models, this model improves precision by 4.9%, recall by 3.3%, AP by 2.4%, and F1 by 3.9%. This verifies the effectiveness of the method and provides a useful reference for improving cross-domain learning and model generalisation capability in the field of target detection.

Abstract Dietary phenolic acids alleviate intestinal inflammation through altering gut microbiota composition and regulating macrophage activation. However, it is unclear how individual phenolic acids affect the interactions between intestinal microbiota and macrophages in the context of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Here, we aim to elucidate the mechanism by which phenolic acids alleviate gut inflammation. Mice with or without depletion of macrophages were administered with four individual phenolic acids including chlorogenic, ferulic, caffeic, and ellagic acids, following dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) treatment. Gut microbiota depletion and fecal microbiota transplantation were further performed in mice to investigate the role of the gut microbiota in phenolic acid-mediated protective effect. Colitis severity was evaluated using histological, serological, and immunological measurements. Absence of intestinal microbiota and macrophage deteriorate the epithelial injury in DSS colitis. Chlorogenic acid mitigated colitis by reducing M1 macrophage polarization through suppression of pyruvate kinase M 2 (Pkm2)-dependent glycolysis and inhibition of NOD-like receptor protein 3 (Nlrp3) activation. However, ferulic acid-mediated reduction of colitis was neutrophil-dependent through diminishing the formation of neutrophil extracellular traps. On the other hand, the beneficial effects of caffeic acid and ellagic acid were dependent upon the gut microbiota. In fact, urolithin A (UroA), a metabolite transformed from ellagic acid by the gut microbiota, was found to alleviate colitis and enhance gut barrier function in an IL22-dependent manner. Overall, our findings demonstrated that the mechanisms by which phenolic acid protected against colitis were resulted from the interaction between gut microbiota and macrophage-neutrophil.

Abstract Fluorescent hydrogels have emerged as one of the most promising candidates for developing biomimetic materials and artificial intelligence owing to their unique fluorescence and responsive properties. However, it is still challenging to fabricate hydrogel that exhibits synergistic changes in fluorescence color and shape in response to multistimulus via a simple method. Herein, blue‐ and orange‐emitting fluorescent microgels (MGs) both are designed and synthesized with pH‐, thermal‐, and cationic‐sensitivity via one‐step polymerization, respectively. The two fluorescent MGs are incorporated into transparent doubly crosslinked microgel (DX MG) hydrogels with a preset ratio. The DX MG hydrogels can tune the fluorescent color accompanied by size variation via subjecting to external multistimulus. Thus, DX MG hydrogels can be exploited for multiresponsive fluorescent bilayer actuators. The actuators can undergo complex shape deformation and color changes. Inspired by natural organisms, an artificial morning glory with color and size changes are showcased in response to buffer solutions of different pH values. Besides, an intelligent skin hydrogel, imitating natural calotes versicolor, by assembling four layers of DX MG with different ratios of MGs, is tailored. This work serves as an inspiration for the design and fabrication of novel biomimetic smart materials with synergistic functions.

Reconstruction of osteochondral (OC) defects represents an immense challenge due to the need for synchronous regeneration of special stratified tissues. The revolutionary innovation of bioprinting provides a robust method for precise fabrication of tissue-engineered OCs with hierarchical structure; however, their spatial living cues for simultaneous fulfilment of osteogenesis and chondrogenesis to reconstruct the cartilage-bone interface of OC are underappreciated. Here, inspired by natural OC bilayer features, anisotropic bicellular living hydrogels (ABLHs) simultaneously embedding articular cartilage progenitor cells (ACPCs) and bone mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) in stratified layers were precisely fabricated via two-channel extrusion bioprinting. The optimum formulation of the 7% GelMA/3% AlgMA hydrogel bioink was demonstrated, with excellent printability at room temperature and maintained high cell viability. Moreover, the chondrogenic ability of ACPCs and the osteogenic ability of BMSCs were demonstrated in vitro, confirming the inherent differential spatial regulation of ABLHs. In addition, ABLHs exhibited satisfactory synchronous regeneration of cartilage and subchondral bone in vivo. Compared with homogeneous hydrogels, the neo-cartilage and neo-bone in ABLHs were augmented by 23.5% and 20.8%, respectively, and more important, a more harmonious cartilage–bone interface was achieved by ABLHs due to their well-tuned cartilage-bone-vessel crosstalk. We anticipate that such a strategy of tissue-mimetic ABLH by means of bioprinting is capable of spatiotemporal cell-driven regeneration, offering insights into the fabrication of anisotropic living materials for the reconstruction of complex organ defects.

Abstract Combining material big data with artificial intelligence constitutes the fourth paradigm of material research. However, the sluggish development of high‐throughput (HT) experimentation has resulted in a lack of experimentally verified and validated material data, which has become the bottleneck of data‐driven material research. Wet‐chemical synthesis has the benefits of low equipment cost and scalability, but traditional wet‐chemical techniques are time‐consuming and ineffective at disclosing the interrelationships between synthesis, compositions, structures, and performance. Constructing a HT workflow in wet‐chemical synthesis is crucial to achieving the preparation of multidimensional materials and establishing the composition–structure–synthesis–performance relationships of functional materials for diverse applications. In this review, the most recent development in HT wet‐chemical synthesis techniques for material research are analyzed in depth. Additionally, the application of HT wet‐chemical synthesis in the fabrication of advanced hydrogels and catalysts is demonstrated through illustrative instances. Finally, this review suggests possible paths for enhancing the efficiency of HT experimentation and data acquisition in order to facilitate more effective material discovery.

Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) has emerged as a critical technology for detecting and classifying objects, such as ships, in challenging environments. However, few-shot learning remains challenging due to the limited availability of labeled SAR data, complex radar backscatter, and variations in imaging parameters. In this article, we propose a novel network, scattering-point topology for few-shot ship classification (SPT-FSC), which addresses these challenges by incorporating scattering characteristics into the network learning process through a scattering-point topology (SPT) based on scattering key points. We design a topology encoding branch through a series of operations to encode the topological information of scattering points, resulting in an SPT embedding that improves the network's adaptability to the imaging mechanism and reduces imaging variability in SAR images. To effectively fuse the SPT embedding and image features extracted from a convolutional neural network, we introduce a novel mechanism named reciprocal feature fusion attention. In addition, to address the limited diversity in the training data, we apply fine-tuning-based methodologies and construct a fine-grained ship classification dataset by combining the OpenSARShip and FUSAR-Ship datasets. Our comprehensive experiments on these datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed SPT-FSC method, achieving high accuracy and robustness in few-shot ship classification tasks for SAR images, outperforming the existing methods in this domain.

Abstract Background Low birth weight (LBW) is associated with intestinal inflammation and dysbiosis after birth. However, the underlying mechanism remains largely unknown. Objective In the present study, we aimed to investigate the metabolism, therapeutic potential, and mechanisms of action of bile acids (BAs) in LBW-induced intestinal inflammation in a piglet model. Methods The fecal microbiome and BA profile between LBW and normal birth weight (NBW) neonatal piglets were compared. Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) was employed to further confirm the linkage between microbial BA metabolism and intestinal inflammation. The therapeutic potential of ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA), a highly differentially abundant BA between LBW and NBW piglets, in alleviating colonic inflammation was evaluated in both LBW piglets, an LBW-FMT mice model, and a DSS-induced colitis mouse model. The underlying cellular and molecular mechanisms by which UDCA suppresses intestinal inflammation were also investigated in both DSS-treated mice and a macrophage cell line. Microbiomes were analyzed by using 16S ribosomal RNA sequencing. Fecal and intestinal BA profiles were measured by using targeted BA metabolomics. Levels of farnesoid X receptor (FXR) were knocked down in J774A.1 cells with small interfering RNAs. Results We show a significant difference in both the fecal microbiome and BA profiles between LBW and normal birth weight animals in a piglet model. Transplantation of the microbiota of LBW piglets to antibiotic-treated mice leads to intestinal inflammation. Importantly, oral administration of UDCA, a major BA diminished in the intestinal tract of LBW piglets, markedly alleviates intestinal inflammation in LBW piglets, an LBW-FMT mice model, and a mouse model of colitis by inducing M2 macrophage polarization. Mechanistically, UDCA reduces inflammatory cytokine production by engaging BA receptor FXR while suppressing NF-κB activation in macrophages. Conclusions These findings establish a causal relationship between LBW-associated intestinal abnormalities and dysbiosis, suggesting that restoring intestinal health and postnatal maldevelopment of LBW infants may be achieved by targeting intestinal microbiota and BA metabolism. Tyrosine-protein phosphatase non-receptor type 1 (Ptpn1) is known to be involved in macrophage polarization. However, whether and how Ptpn1 regulates macrophage phenotype to affect intestinal epithelial barrier function remains largely unexplored. Herein, we investigated the impact of Ptpn1 and macrophage-derived small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) on macrophage-intestinal epithelial cell (IEC) interactions in the context of intestinal inflammation. We found that Ptpn1 knockdown shifts macrophages toward the anti-inflammatory M2 phenotype, thereby promoting intestinal barrier integrity and suppressing inflammatory response in the macrophage-IEC co-culture model. We further revealed that conditioned medium or sEVs isolated from Ptp1b knockdown macrophages are the primary factor driving the beneficial outcomes. Consistently, administration of the sEVs from Ptpn1-knockdown macrophages reduced disease severity and ameliorated intestinal inflammation in LPS-challenged mice. Furthermore, depletion of macrophages in mice abrogated the protective effect of Ptpn1-knockdown macrophage sEVs against Salmonella Typhimurium infection. Importantly, we found lactadherin to be highly enriched in the sEVs of Ptpn1-knockdown macrophages. Administration of recombinant lactadherin alleviated intestinal inflammation and barrier dysfunction by inducing macrophage M2 polarization. Interestingly, sEVs lactadherin was also internalized by macrophages and IECs, leading to macrophage M2 polarization and enhanced intestinal barrier integrity. Mechanistically, the anti-inflammatory and barrier-enhancing effect of lactadherin was achieved by reducing TNF-α and NF-κB activation. Thus, we demonstrated that sEVs from Ptpn1-knockdown macrophages mediate the communication between IECs and macrophages through enrichment of lactadherin. The outcome could potentially lead to the development of novel therapies for intestinal inflammatory disorders.

Abstract Background The dynamic process of transcription termination produces transient RNA intermediates that are difficult to distinguish from each other via short-read sequencing methods. Results Here, we use single-molecule nascent RNA sequencing to characterize the various forms of transient RNAs during termination at genome-wide scale in wildtype Arabidopsis and in atxrn3, fpa, and met1 mutants. Our data reveal a wide range of termination windows among genes, ranging from ~ 50 nt to over 1000 nt. We also observe efficient termination before downstream tRNA genes, suggesting that chromatin structure around the promoter region of tRNA genes may block pol II elongation. 5′ Cleaved readthrough transcription in atxrn3 with delayed termination can run into downstream genes to produce normally spliced and polyadenylated mRNAs in the absence of their own transcription initiation. Consistent with previous reports, we also observe long chimeric transcripts with cryptic splicing in fpa mutant; but loss of CG DNA methylation has no obvious impact on termination in the met1 mutant. Conclusions Our method is applicable to establish a comprehensive termination landscape in a broad range of species.

Circular RNA (CircRNA) is a newly identified special class of non-coding RNA (ncRNA) that plays an important regulatory role in the progression of certain diseases. Herein, our results indicate that CircMEG3 is downregulated expression and negatively correlated with the expression of telomerase-related gene Cbf5 in human liver cancer. Moreover, CircMEG3 inhibits the growth of human liver cancer stem cells in vivo and in vitro. CircMEG3 inhibits the expression of m6A methyltransferase METTL3 dependent on HULC. Moreover, CircMEG3 inhibits the expression of Cbf5, a component of telomere synthetase H/ACA ribonucleoprotein (RNP; catalyst RNA pseudouracil modification) through METTL3 dependent on HULC. Thereby, CircMEG3 inhibits telomerase activity and shortens telomere lifespan dependent on HULC and Cbf5 in human liver cancer stem cell. Strikingly, increased Cbf5 abrogates the ability of CircMEG3 to inhibit malignant differentiation of human liver cancer stem cells. In summary, these observations provide important basic information for finding effective liver cancer therapeutic targets.

Ship detection in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images has attracted widespread attention due to its significance and challenges. In recent years, numerous detectors based on deep learning have achieved good performance in the field of SAR ship detection. However, ship targets of the same type always have various representations in SAR images under different imaging conditions, while different types of ships may have a high degree of similarity, which considerably complicates SAR target recognition. Meanwhile, the ship target in the SAR image is also obscured by background and noise. To address these issues, this paper proposes a novel oriented ship detection method in SAR images named SPG-OSD. First, we propose an oriented two-stage detection module based on the scattering characteristics. Second, to reduce false alarms and missing ships, we improve the performance of the network by incorporating SAR scattering characteristics in the first stage of the detector. A scattering-point-guided region proposal network (RPN) is designed to predict possible key scattering points and make the regression and classification stages of RPN increase attention to the vicinity of key scattering points and reduce attention to background and noise. Third, supervised contrastive learning is introduced to alleviate the problem of minute discrepancies among SAR object classes. Region-of-Interest (RoI) contrastive loss is proposed to enhance inter-class distinction and diminish intra-class variance. Extensive experiments are conducted on the SAR ship detection dataset from the Gaofen-3 satellite, and the experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of SPG-OSD and show that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance.

Abstract The broad application of single-cell RNA profiling in plants has been hindered by the prerequisite of protoplasting that requires digesting the cell walls from different types of plant tissues. Here, we present a protoplasting-free approach, flsnRNA-seq, for large-scale full-length RNA profiling at a single-nucleus level in plants using isolated nuclei. Combined with 10x Genomics and Nanopore long-read sequencing, we validate the robustness of this approach in Arabidopsis root cells and the developing endosperm. Sequencing results demonstrate that it allows for uncovering alternative splicing and polyadenylation-related RNA isoform information at the single-cell level, which facilitates characterizing cell identities.

Summary: Objective: To compare the clinical efficacy, complications, and reoperation rates among three major treatments for lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS): decompression, fusion, and interspinous process device (IPD), using a Bayesian network meta-analysis. Materials and methods: Databases including Pubmed, Embase, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), and Web of Science were used for the literature search. Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) with three treatment methods were reviewed and included in the study. R software (version 3.6.0), Stata (version 14.0), and Review Manager (version 5.3) were used to perform data analysis. Results: A total of 10 RCTs involving 1254 patients were enrolled in the present study and each study met an acceptable quality according to our quality assessment described later. In direct comparison, IPD exhibited a higher incidence of reoperation than fusion (OR ​= ​2.93, CI: 1.07–8.02). In indirect comparison, the rank of VAS leg (from best to worst) was as follows: IPD (64%) ​> ​decompression (25%) ​> ​fusion (11%), and the rank of ODI (from best to worst) was: IPD (84%) ​> ​fusion (13%) ​> ​decompression (4%). IPD had the lowest incidence of complications; the rank of complications (from best to worst) was: IPD (60%) ​> ​decompression (27%) ​> ​fusion (14%). However, for the rank of reoperation, fusion showed the best results (from best to worst): fusion (79%) ​> ​decompression (20%) ​> ​IPD (1%). Consistency tests at global and local level showed satisfactory results and heterogeneity tests using loop text indicated a favorable stability. Conclusion: The present study preliminarily indicates that non-fusion methods including decompression and IPD are optimal choices for treating LSS, which achieves favorable clinical outcomes. IPD exhibits a low incidence of complications, but its high rate of reoperation should be treated with caution. The translational potential of this article: For the treatment of LSS, several procedures including decompression, fusion, and IPD have been reported. However, each method has its own advantages and disadvantages. To date, the golden standard treatment for LSS is still controversial. In this network meta-analysis, our results demonstrate that both decompression and IPD obtain satisfactory clinical effects for LSS. IPD is accompanied with a low incidence of complications, however, its high rate of reoperation should be acknowledged with discretion.

Body protein losses in lactating sows have a negative impact on sow and litter performance. Improving dietary amino acid utilization may limit protein mobilization. The effects of dietary protein kinetics on sow body condition loss, blood plasma metabolites, and plasma insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1), and also on litter gain during lactation, were investigated in this study. In total, 57 multiparous sows were fed one of three lactation diets with the same crude protein level: low level of slow protein diet (LSP) (8% slowly degradable protein of total protein), medium level of slow protein diet (MSP) (12% slowly degradable protein of total protein), or high level of slow protein diet (HSP) (16% slowly degradable protein of total protein) in a complete block design. Our results showed that HSP sows lost the least body weight compared to MSP and LSP sows (11.9 vs. 17.3 and 13.5 kg, respectively; p = 0.01), less body protein than MSP sows (1.0 vs. 2.1 kg; p = 0.01), and tended to lose less loin muscle thickness than LSP sows (1.7 vs. 4.9 mm; p = 0.09) between Day 2 to Day 21 post-farrowing. LSP sows had greatest plasma urea level on Day 6 than MSP and HSP sows (4.9 vs. 3.6 and 3.1 mmol/L, respectively; p < 0.01) and on Day 13 (5.6 vs. 4.1 and 3.7 mmol/L, respectively; p < 0.01). HSP sows had the lowest plasma urea level at Day 20 compared to LSP and MSP sows (4.0 vs. 5.5 and 4.9 mmol/L, respectively; p < 0.01). The average plasma urea level of Days 6, 13, and 20 post-farrowing was negatively correlated with slow protein intake (r = −0.49, p < 0.01). Litter gain, milk composition, and nitrogen output to the environment did not differ significantly among the treatment groups. Therefore, the dietary protein kinetics affected mobilization of maternal reserves in multiparous sows during lactation, with a high fraction of slow protein-sparing protein mobilization.

Abstract Background MEG3 downregulated the expression in several tumors and inhibits human tumorigenesis. But so far, the mechanism of MEG3 in tumorigenesis is still unclear. Methods In gene infection, cellular and molecular technologies and tumorigenesis test in vitro and in vivo were performed, respectively. Results Our results indicate that MEG3 enhances the P53 expression by triggering the loading of P300 and RNA polymerase II onto its promoter regions dependent on HP1α. Moreover, MEG3 increases the methylation modification of histone H3 at the 27th lysine via P53. Furthermore, MEG3 inhibits the expression of TERT by increasing the H3K27me3 in TERT promoter regions, thereby inhibiting the activity of telomerase by reducing the binding of TERT to TERC. Furthermore, MEG3 also increases the expression of TERRA; therefore, the interaction between TERC and TERT was competitively attenuated by increasing the interaction between TERRA and TERT, which inhibits the activity of telomerase in hLCSCs. Strikingly, MEG3 reduces the length of telomere by blocking the formation of complex maintaining telomere length (POT1-Exo1-TRF2-SNM1B) and decreasing the binding of the complex to telomere by increasing the interplay between P53 and HULC. Ultimately, MEG3 inhibits the growth of hLCSCs by reducing the activity of telomerase and attenuating telomeric repeat binding factor 2(TRF2). Conclusions Our results demonstrates MEG3 inhibits the occurrence of human liver cancer by blocking telomere, and these findings provide an important insight into the prevention and treatment of human liver cancer.

miR-155 is associated with the promotion of tumorigenesis. Herein, we indicate that abnormal miR-155 was negatively correlated with the expression of P21WAF1/Cip1. Our results suggest that miR-155 alters the transcriptome and inhibits the expression of H3F3A in liver cancer cells. Therefore, miR-155 inhibits the methylation modification of histone H3 on the 27th lysine. Notably, on the one hand, miR-155-dependent CTCF loops cause the CDK2 interacting with cyclin E in liver cancer cells; on the other hand, miR-155 promotes the phosphorylation modification of CDK2 by inhibiting H3F3A. Subsequently, miR-155 competitively blocks the binding of RNA polymerase II (RNA Pol II) to the P21WAF1/CIP1 promoter by increasing the phosphorylation of CDK2, inhibiting the transcription and translation of P21WAF1/CIP1. Strikingly, excessive P21WAF1/CIP1 abolishes the cancerous function of miR-155. In conclusion, miR-155 can play a positive role in the development of liver cancer and influence a series of gene expression through epigenetic regulation.

Abstract Background The zero-profile anchored cage (ZP) has been widely used for its lower occurrence of dysphagia. However, it is still controversial whether it has the same stability as the cage-plate construct (CP) and increases the incidence of postoperative subsidence. We compared the rate of subsidence after anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) with ZP and CP to determine whether the zero-profile device had a higher subsidence rate. Methods We performed a meta-analysis of studies that compared the subsidence rates of ZP and CP. An extensive and systematic search covered the PubMed and Embase databases according to the PRISMA guidelines and identified ten articles that satisfied our inclusion criteria. Relevant clinical and radiological data were extracted and analyzed by the RevMan 5.3 software. Results Ten trials involving 626 patients were included in this meta-analysis. The incidence of postoperative subsidence in the ZP group was significantly higher than that in the CP group [15.1% (89/588) versus 8.8% (51/581), OR = 1.97 (1.34, 2.89), P = 0.0005]. In the subgroup analysis, we found that the definition of subsidence did not affect the higher subsidence rate in the ZP group. Considering the quantity of operative segments, there was no significant difference in the incidence of subsidence between the two groups after single-level fusion (OR 1.43, 95% CI 0.61–3.37, P = 0.41). However, the subsidence rate of the ZP group was significantly higher than that of the CP group (OR 2.61, 95% CI 1.55–4.40, P = 0.0003) after multilevel (≥ 2-level) procedures. There were no significant differences in intraoperative blood loss, JOA score, NDI score, fusion rate, or cervical alignment in the final follow-up between the two groups. In addition, the CP group had a longer operation time and a higher incidence of dysphagia than the ZP group at each follow-up time. Conclusion Based on the limited evidence, we suggest that ZP has a higher risk of postoperative subsidence than CP, although with elevated swallowing discomfort. A high-quality, multicenter randomized controlled trial is required to validate our results in the future.

Objective The Yip1 domain family (YIPF) proteins were proposed to function in endoplasmic reticulum (ER) to Golgi transport and maintenance of the morphology of the Golgi, which were homologues of yeast Yip1p and Yif1p. YIPF3, the member 3 of YIPF family was a homolog of Yif1p. The aim of present study was to investigate the expression and regulation mechanism of porcine YIPF3. Methods Quantitative realtime polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) was used to analyze porcine YIPF3 mRNA expression pattern in different tissues and pig kidney epithelial (PK15) cells stimulated by polyinosine-polycytidylic acid (poly [I:C]). Site-directed mutations combined with dual luciferase reporter assays and electrophoretic mobility shift assay (EMSA) were employed to reveal transcription regulation mechanism of porcine YIPF3. Results Results showed that the mRNA of porcine YIPF3 (pYIPF3) was widely expressed with the highest levels in lymph and lung followed by spleen and liver, while weak in heart and skeletal muscle. Subcellular localization results indicated that it expressed in Golgi apparatus and plasma membranes. Upon stimulation with poly (I:C), the level of this gene was dramatically up-regulated in a time- and concentration-dependent manner. pYIPF3 core promoter region harbored three cis-acting elements which were bound by ETS proto-oncogene 2 (ETS2), zinc finger and BTB domain containing 4 (ZBTB4), and zinc finger and BTB domain containing 14 (ZBTB14), respectively. In which, ETS2 and ZBTB4 both promoted pYIPF3 transcription activity while ZBTB14 inhibited it, and these three transcription factors all played important regulation roles in tumorigenesis and apoptosis. Conclusion The pYIPF3 mRNA expression was regulated by ETS2, ZBTB4, and ZBTB14, and its higher expression in immune organs might contribute to enhancing ER to Golgi transport of proteins, thus adapting to the immune response.

Abstract Background The functions of HULC have been demonstrated in several cancers. However, its mechanism has not been elucidated in human liver cancer stem cells. Methods Liver cancer stem cells were isolated from Huh7 cells; gene infection and tumorigenesis test in vitro and in vivo were performed. Results We demonstrate that HULC promotes growth of liver cancer stem cells in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, HULC enhances the expression of Sirt1 dependent on miR675 and then induces the cellular autophagy through Sirt1. HULC enhances CyclinD1 and thereby increases pRB and inhibited P21 WAF1/CIP 1 via autophagy-miR675-PKM2 pathway in human liver cancer stem cells. Ultimately, our results demonstrate that CyclinD1 is required for the oncogenic functions of HULC in liver cancer stem cells. Conclusions It reveals the key molecular signaling pathways for HULC and provides important basic information for finding effective tumor therapeutic targets based on HULC.

The endosperm is a vital storage tissue in plant seeds. It provides nutrients to the embryos or the seedlings during seed development and germination. Although the genetic information in the endosperm cannot be passed directly to the next generation, its inherited epigenetic marks affect gene expression and its development and, consequently, embryo and seed growth. DNA methylation is a major form of epigenetic modification that can be investigated to understand the epigenome changes during reproductive development. Therefore, it is of great significance to explore the effects of endosperm DNA methylation on crop yield and traits. In this review, we discuss the changes in DNA methylation and the resulting imprinted gene expression levels during plant endosperm development, as well as their effects on seed development.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of the high level of xylooligosaccharides (XOS) on growth performance, antioxidant capability, immune function, and fecal microbiota in weaning piglets. The results showed that 28 d body weight exhibited linear and quadratic increases (P < 0.05) with increasing dietary XOS level, as well as average daily feed intake (ADFI) on d 15–28, average daily gain (ADG) on d 15–28 and 1–28. There was a linear decrease (P < 0.05) between XOS levels and feed conversion rate (FCR) on d 1–14 and 1–28. Additionally, glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) showed a linear increase (P < 0.05), while the malondialdehyde (MDA) level decreased linearly and quadratically (P < 0.05) with the increasing dietary level of XOS. Moreover, the XOS treatments markedly increased the levels of immunoglobulin A (Ig A) (linear, P < 0.05; quadratic, P < 0.05), IgM (quadratic, P < 0.05), IgG (linear, P < 0.05), and anti-inflammatory cytokine interleukin-10 (IL-10) (quadratic, P < 0.05) in serum, while the IL-1β (linear, P < 0.05; quadratic, P < 0.05) and IL-6 (linear, P < 0.05) decreased with increasing level of XOS. Microbiota analysis showed that dietary supplementation with 1.5% XOS decreased (P < 0.05) the α-diversity and enriched (P < 0.05) beneficial bacteria including Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, and Fusicatenibacter at the genus level, compared with the control group. Importantly, linearly increasing responses (P < 0.05) to fecal acetate, propionate, butyrate, and total short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) were observed with increasing level of XOS. Spearman correlation analyses found that Lactobacillus abundance was positively correlated with ADG, acetate, propionate, and IgA (P < 0.05), but negatively correlated with IL-1β (P < 0.05). Bifidobacterium abundance was positively related with ADFI, total SCFAs, IgG, and IL-10 (P < 0.05), as well as g_Fusicatenibacter abundance with ADFI, total SCFAs, and IL-10. However, Bifidobacterium and Fusicatenibacter abundances were negatively associated with MDA levels (P < 0.05). In summary, dietary supplementation with XOS can improve the growth performance in weaning piglets by increasing antioxidant capability, enhancing immune function, and promoting beneficial bacteria counts.

Summary: miR-1307 is highly expressed in liver cancer and inhibits methyltransferase protein8. Thereby, miR-1307 inhibits the expression of KDM3A and KDM3B and increases the methylation modification of histone H3 lysine 9, which enhances the expression of endoplasmic-reticulum-related gene CALR. Of note, miR-1307 weakens the binding ability of OSTC to CDK2, CDK4, CyclinD1, and cyclinE and enhances the binding ability of CALR to CDK2, CDK4, CyclinD1, and cyclinE, decreasing of p21WAF1/CIP1, GADD45, pRB, and p18, and decreasing of ppRB. Furthermore, miR-1307 increases the activity of H-Ras, PKM2, and PLK1. Strikingly, miR-1307 reduces the binding ability of OSTC to ATG4 and enhances the binding ability of CALR to ATG4. Therefore, miR-1307 reduces the occurrence of autophagy based on ATG4-LC3-ATG3-ATG7-ATG5-ATG16L1-ATG12-ATG9- Beclin1. In particular, miR-1307 enhances the expression of PAK2, PLK1, PRKAR2A, MYBL1, and Trim44 and inhibits the expression of Sash1 and Smad5 via autophagy. Our observations suggest that miR-1307 promotes hepatocarcinogenesis by CALR-OSTC-endoplasmic reticulum protein folding pathway.

miR675 is highly expressed in several human tumor tissues and positively regulates cell progression. Herein, we demonstrate that miR675 promotes malignant transformation of human mesenchymal stem cells. Mechanistically, we reveal that miR675 enhances the expression of the polyubiquitin-binding protein p62. Intriguingly, P62 competes with SETD2 to bind histone H3 and then significantly reduces SETD2-binding capacity to substrate histone H3, triggering drastically the reduction of three methylation on histone H3 36th lysine (H3K36me3). Thereby, the H3K36me3-hMSH6-SKP2 triplex complex is significantly decreased. Notably, the ternary complex’s occupancy capacity on chromosome is absolutely reduced, preventing it from DNA damage repair. By virtue of the reductive degradation ability of SKP2 for aging histone H3.3 bound to mismatch DNA, the aging histone H3.3 repair is delayed. Therefore, the mismatch DNA escapes from repair, triggering the abnormal expression of several cell cycle-related genes and causing the malignant transformation of mesenchymal stem cells. These observations strongly suggest understanding the novel functions of miR675 will help in the development of novel therapeutic approaches in a broad range of cancer types. Constipation is a common problem in sows and women during late pregnancy. Dietary fiber has potential in the regulation of intestinal microbiota, thereby promoting intestinal motility and reducing constipation. However, the effects of fibers with different physicochemical properties on intestinal microbe and constipation during late pregnancy have not been fully explored. In this study, a total of 80 sows were randomly allocated to control and one of three dietary fiber treatments from day 85 of gestation to delivery: LIG (lignocellulose), PRS (resistant starch), and KON (konjaku flour). Results showed that the defecation frequency and fecal consistency scores were highest in PRS. PRS and KON significantly increased the level of gut motility regulatory factors, 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT), motilin (MTL), and acetylcholinesterase (AChE) in serum. Moreover, PRS and KON promoted the IL-10 level and reduced the TNF-α level in serum. Furthermore, maternal PRS and KON supplementation significantly reduced the number of stillborn piglets. Microbial sequencing analysis showed that PRS and KON increased short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs)-producing genera Bacteroides and Parabacteroides and decreased the abundance of endotoxin-producing bacteria Desulfovibrio and Oscillibacter in feces. Moreover, the relative abundance of Turicibacter and the fecal butyrate concentration in PRS were the highest. Correlation analysis further revealed that the defecation frequency and serum 5-HT were positively correlated with Turicibacter and butyrate. In conclusion, PRS is the best fiber source for promoting gut motility, which was associated with increased levels of 5-HT under specific bacteria Turicibacter and butyrate stimulation, thereby relieving constipation. Our findings provide a reference for dietary fiber selection to improve intestinal motility in late pregnant mothers.

Large bowel perforation is an acute abdominal emergency requiring rapid diagnosis for proper treatment. The high mortality rate associated with large bowel perforation underlines the importance of an accurate and timely diagnosis. Computed tomography is useful for diagnosis of ingested foreign bodies, and endoscopic repair using clips can be an effective treatment of colon perforations. We herein describe a 78-year-old man with sigmoid colon perforation caused by accidental swallowing of a jujube pit. The jujube pit had become stuck in the wall of the sigmoid colon and was successfully removed by colonoscopy, avoiding an aggressive surgery. As a result of developments in endoscopic techniques, endoscopic closure has become a feasible option for the management of intestinal perforation.

MicroRNAs are known to be involved in carcinogenesis. Recently, microRNA-372 (miR372) has been proven to play a substantial role in several human cancers, but its functions in liver cancer remain unclear. Herein, our results demonstrate that miR372 accelerates growth of liver cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, miR372 enhances expression of Y-box-binding protein 1 (YB-1) by targeting for phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) directly and consequently promotes phosphorylation of YB-1 via HULC looping dependent on ERK1/2 and PTEN. In particular, HULC knockdown or PTEN overexpression abrogated this miR372 action. Moreover, miR372 inhibits the degradation of β-catenin dependent on phosphorylation of YB-1 and then enhances the expression and activity of pyruvate kinase M2 isoform (PKM2) by β-catenin-LEF/TCF4 pathway. Furthermore, the loading of LEF/TCF4 on PKM2 promoter region was significantly increased in miR372 overexpressing Hep3B, and thus, glycolytic proton efflux rate (glycoPER) was significantly increased in rLV-miR372 group compared to the rLV group. Moreover, β-catenin knockdown abrogates this function of miR372. Ultimately, miR372 promotes the expression of erbB-2 through PKM2-pH3T11-acetylation on histone H3 lysine 9 (H3K9Ac) pathway. Of significance, both YB-1 knockdown and erbB-2 knockdown abrogate oncogenic action of miR372. Our observations suggest that miR372 promotes liver cancer cell cycle progress by activating cyclin-dependent kinase 2 (CDK2)-cyclin E-P21/Cip1 complex through miR372-YB-1-β-catenin-LEF/TCF4-PKM2-erbB-2 axis. This study elucidates a novel mechanism for miR372 in liver cancer cells and suggests that miR372 can be used as a novel therapeutic target of liver cancer.

Inflammatory and autophagy-related gene P62 is highly expressed in most human tumor tissues. Herein, we demonstrate that P62 promotes human mesenchymal stem cells’ malignant transformation via the cascade of P62-tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α)-CUDR-CTCF-insulin growth factor II (IGFII)-H-Ras signaling. Mechanistically, we reveal P62 enhances IGFII transcriptional activity through forming IGFII promoter-enhancer chromatin loop and increasing METTL3 occupancy on IGFII 3′ UTR and enhances H-Ras overexpression by harboring inflammation-related factors, e.g., TNFR1, CLYD, EGR1, NFκB, TLR4, and PPARγ. Furthermore, the P62 cooperates with TNF-α to promote malignant transformation of mesenchymal stem cells. These findings, for the first time, provide insight into the positive role that P62 plays in malignant transformation of mesenchymal stem cells and reveal a novel link between P62 and the inflammation factors in mesenchymal stem cells.

Abstract Background Long noncoding RNA HULC is highly up-regulation in human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the functions of HULC in hepatocarcinogenesis remains unclear. Methods RT-PCR, Western blotting, Chromatin immunoprecipitation (CHIP) assay, RNA Immunoprecipitation (RIP) and tumorignesis test in vitro and in vivo were performed. Results HULC is negatively associated with expression of PTEN or miR15a in patients of human liver cancer. Moreover, HULC accelerates malignant progression of liver cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, HULC increasesthe expression of P62 via decreasing mature miR15a. On the other hand, excessive HULC increases the expression of LC3 on the level of transcription and then activates LC3 through Sirt1 (a deacetylase). Notably, HULC enhanced the interplay between LC3 and ATG3. Furthermore, HULC also increases the expression of becline-1(autophagy related gene). Therefore, HULC increases the cellular autophagy by increasing LC3II dependent on Sirt1.Noteworthy, excessive HULC reduces the expression of PTEN, β-catenin and enhances the expression of SAPK/JUNK, PKM2, CDK2, NOTCH1, C-Jun in liver cancer cells. Of significance, our observations also revealed that HULC inhibited PTEN through ubiquitin–proteasome system mediated by autophagy-P62.Ultimately,HULC activates AKT-PI3K-mTOR pathway through inhibiting PTEN in human liver cancer cells. Conclusions This study elucidates a novel mechanism that lncRNA HULC produces a vital function during hepatocarcinogenesis.

Glucagon-like peptide 2 (GLP2) is a proglucagon-derived peptide that is involved in the regulation of energy absorption and exerts beneficial effects on glucose metabolism. However, the exact mechanisms underlying the GLP2 during osteogenic differentiation has not been illustrated. Herein, we indicated that GLP2 was demonstrated to result in positive action during the osteogenic differentiation of human osteosarcoma cells. Our findings demonstrate that GLP2 inhibis the growth of osteosarcoma cells in vivo and in vitro. Mechanistic investigations reveal GLP2 inhibits the expression and activity of nuclear factor κB (NF-κB), triggering the decrease of c-Myc, PKM2, and CyclinD1 in osteosarcoma cells. In particular, rescued NF-κB abrogates the functions of GLP2 in osteosarcoma cells. Strikingly, GLP2 overexpression significantly increased the expression of osteogenesis-associated genes (e.g., Ocn and PICP) dependent on c-Fos-BMP signaling, which promotes directed differentiation from osteosarcoma cells to osteoblasts with higher alkaline phosphatase activity. Taken together, our results suggested that GLP2 could be a valuable drug to promote directed differentiation from osteosarcoma cells to osteoblasts, which may provide potential therapeutic targets for the treatment of osteosarcoma.

Deep learning has been widely used in the field of SAR ship detection. However, current SAR ship detection still faces many challenges, such as complex scenes, multiple scales, and small targets. In order to promote the solution to the above problems, this article releases a high-resolution SAR ship detection dataset which can be used for rotating frame target detection. The dataset contains six categories of ships. In total, 30 panoramic SAR tiles of the Chinese Gaofen-3 of port areas with a 1-m resolution were cropped to slices, each with 1024 × 1024 pixels. In addition, most of the images in the dataset contain nearshore areas with complex background interference. Eight state-of-the-art rotated detectors and a CFAR-based method were used to evaluate the dataset. Experimental results revealed that the complex background will have a great impact on the performance of detectors.

To analyze the feasibility of electrospinning nanofiber yarn using a wrapping yarn forming device, electrospun nanofiber-wrapped yarns and multiscale yarns were prepared by self-made equipment. The relationship between the surface morphology and properties of yarn and its preparation process was studied. The process parameters were adjusted, and it was found that some nanofibers formed Z-twisted yarns, while others showed exposed cores. To analyze the forming mechanism of electrospun nanofiber-wrapped yarn, the concept of winding displacement difference in the twisted yarn core A was introduced. The formation of nanofiber-wrapped structural yarns was discussed using three values of A. The starting point of each twist was the same position when A = 0 with a constant corner angle β. However, the oriented nanofiber broke or was pulled out from the gripping point when it was twisted, and it appeared disordered. The forming process of electrospun nanofiber-wrapped yarn displayed some unique phenomena, including the emission of directional nanofibers during collection, fiber non-continuity, and twist angle non-uniformity. The conclusions of this research have theoretical and practical value to guide the industrial preparation of nanofiber yarns and their wrapped yarns.

Cell robots that transform natural cells into active platforms hold great potential to enrich the biomedical prospects of artificial microrobots. Here, we present Janus yeast cell microrobots (JYC-robots) prepared by asymmetrically coating Fe3O4 nanoparticles (NPs) and subsequent in situ growth of zeolitic imidazolate framework-67 (ZIF-67) on the surface of yeast cells. The magnetic actuation relies on the Fe3O4 NPs wrapping. As the compositions of cell robots, the cell wall with abundant polysaccharide coupling with porous and oxidative ZIF-67 can concurrently remove mycotoxin (e.g., zearalenone (ZEN)). The magnetic propulsion accelerates the decontamination efficiency of JYC-robots against ZEN. Although yeast cells with fully coating of Fe3O4 NPs and ZIF-67 (FC-yeasts) show faster movement than JYC-robots, higher toxin-removal efficacy is observed for JYC-robots compared with that of FC-yeasts, reflecting the vital factor of the yeast cell wall in removing mycotoxin. Such design with Janus modification of magnetic NPs (MNPs) and entire coating of ZIF-67 generates active cell robot platform capable of fuel-free propulsion and enhanced detoxification, offering a new formation to develop cell-based robotics system for environmental remediation.
