The carbon footprints are increasing in the environment at an alarming rate mainly due to unplanned human activities. The world’s population will continue to grow at a rapid pace in the future. As a result, our future generations may find it difficult to live on this planet in a healthy manner. The world’s developed and developing countries began to investigate various methods for reducing their carbon footprint. However, it will not be sustainable if it is also not economically viable. In this scenario, maintaining a good profit for businesses while reducing their carbon footprint necessitates a pragmatic strategy. In this article, we will try to find a way out that will provide us with a practical solution. We will simulate the profitability of an upstream oil manufacturer that has invested heavily in green technologies. Under a carbon tax system, we will use the production-inventory model. This system assumes that capital investment in green technology can reduce emissions, and increase profits. We used data from the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation of India, available in its annual reports. As a matter of fact, the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation of India accounts for 70% of crude oil production in India and is a major player in India’s upstream oil companies. The results were quite encouraging, with deviations between expected and actual values being less than 10%. The findings also led us to believe that the excise duty and the pollution control tax levied in India can be regarded as a Green Tax or Carbon Tax. We used a published research model to find the optimal solution.

The paper develops a finite-horizon inventory model with source-based emissions, plan-based green investments under inflation, and the present value of money. The cap-and-trade policy is used as the carbon policy. The model is solved in a bi-objective scenario where the two objectives are maximization of the present value of net profit and minimization of the total emission. We find the Pareto optimal solutions represented by a Pareto front using the ∊-constraint method. A flowchart is provided to find the non-dominated solutions. Pareto solutions for three special cases (no inflation, carbon tax, and no green investments) are also derived. In our sensitivity analyses, we observe that the carbon quota does not affect the optimal policy. It only affects the optimum profit. Seeking the greatest possible return on long-term investments, investors naturally seek equities of the best-performing companies that fit their investment timeframe. Long-term investment success rests on selecting the best companies, which requires a challenging analysis reviewing voluminous and often-conflicting data about companies and understanding broader economic forecasts. This paper undertook a case study deployment of MCDM methodologies to examine the suitability and effectiveness of Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) methods in assessing and ranking the best stocks for portfolio inclusion. A combination of MCDM techniques comprised a methodology to evaluate and rank Saudi Arabian banking stocks based on their performance in the Saudi stock market. Specifically, the paper combined the Best–Worst Method (BWM) and Ranking Alternatives by Perimeter Similarity (RAPS) for the analysis. BWM calculated each criterion's relative impact (weight) in selecting a stock. RAPS then used the weighting to rank the results of the investigation. The study's findings yielded encouraging results regarding using an integrated MCDM technique to derive optimal banking sector securities in the expansive Saudi stock market. The novel application of the robust RAPS technique combined with BWM encourages continued and increased use of MCDM techniques in financial matters and broader application in evaluating equities. This paper presents a single vendor–single buyer coordinated model. The vendor produces a single deteriorating item and transfers it to the buyer in equal shipments. The model is based on vendor managed inventory with consignment stock (VMI-CS) agreement in which the vendor uses the buyer’s warehouse. The buyer stocks items both on his shelf and in his warehouse. The demand is assumed to be linearly sensitive to inventory level and selling price. The objective is to determine variables that maximise the total profit. An exact solution procedure is proposed to find the optimal solution. Numerical results show that supply chain members will benefit from the advantages of economies of scale in coordinated model with VMI-CS policy. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

Inventory management is becoming very challenging for the retailer over the years due to the uncertainty in the demand and supply of products in financial risk and management systems. In a competitive market, running a business smoothly in a highly suitable place is day by day becoming tough due to the very high fare for those locations. Thus, limited storage is available in those elite places with high fares, and a retailer takes a financial risk by stocking huge amounts of products in those limited storage stores. Thus, the appropriate financial analysis is required to find out optimal strategies (financial decisions) to sustain a business organization of electronic products in a global competitive business environment. As a result, when bulk purchases of electronic products, for example, T.V., Fridges, Oven, etc., have been made by the retailer, he faces two problems. The first one is related to the limited storage; as a result, he has to pay a considerable amount to hold the products for a long time. The second one is shortages of liquid money as he invested massive amounts. To avoid these problems, he offers some price discounts on the market's original selling price to sell the products quickly for a limited time prior to recovering his capital investment. For that reason, a price, time, and stock dependent realistic demand function have been considered in this proposed paper with two modes of discount policy. The proposed model has been solved by a classical optimization technique from calculus and provides some insights for the retailer.
