BackgroundDigital imaging of dermatological patients is a novel approach to remote assessment and has recently become more relevant since telehealth and remote decentralized clinical trials are gaining ground. ObjectiveWe aimed to investigate whether photographs taken by a smartphone are of adequate quality to allow severity assessments to be made and to explore the usefulness of an established atopic dermatitis severity assessment instrument on photograph evaluation. MethodsDuring scheduled visits in a previously published study, the investigating doctor evaluated the severity of atopic dermatitis using the Scoring AD (SCORAD) index and took photographs of the most representative lesions (target lesions) with both a smartphone and a digital single-lens reflex camera (DSLR). The photographs were then assessed by 5 dermatologists using the intensity items of the SCORAD (iSCORAD), which consists of erythema, oedema/papulation, excoriations, lichenification, oozing/crusts, and dryness (scale 0-3, maximum score 18). The mean iSCORAD of the photographs was calculated and compared with in-person assessments using Pearson correlation and Bland-Altman plots. Intraclass correlation coefficients were used for interrater reliability. ResultsA total of 942 photographs from 95 patients were assessed. We face significant environmental pollution problems due to various industries, such as the aluminum industry, which generates large amounts of red mud (RM) waste, or agriculture, in which case the use of pesticides creates huge water pollution problems. In this context, the present study offers a better perspective to originally solve both environmental issues. Thus, the main target of the study referred to using RM waste as a filler for preparing composite copolymer beads. Thereafter, this can achieve significant removal of water pollutants due to their adsorption/oxidation characteristics. As evidenced by the changes in chemical structure and composition, thermal stability, morphology, and porosity, RM was homogenously incorporated in poly(acrylonitrile-co-acrylic acid) beads prepared by wet phase inversion. The final assessment for the removal of pesticides by adsorption and oxidation processes was proven successful. In this regard, 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid was chosen as a model pollutant, for which an adsorption capacity of 16.08 mg/g composite beads was achieved. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper aims to gather and provide information about a less known historical text from the beginning of the 19th century. Alexander I, Keiser von Russland. Ein Regierungs- und Karaktergemälde written by Johann Daniel Friedrich Rumpf is the less known booklet printed in Buda, in 1815. With an anonymous translator, the text represents an important analytical base to understand the cultural, political and social landscape in the Romanian time-frame of Enlightenment. The paper focuses on some important translation issues as: loans or adaptation, in a period of time when the translators had to adapt to a different context in order to use a specialized language for the economic, geographic and legal realities. Specialized studies showed the importance of physical activities in preventing premature aging, in maintaining functional independence and in improving life's quality. Our colleagues, the teaching staff from the other theoretical disciplines from the entire University of Bucharest showed their interest in changing their life style into a healthier one through a documentation, learning, adaptation and development program of their own psychophysical resources. The argumentation for this measure lies in the fact that the university staff forms a group with varied necessities. The psychometric counseling for the teaching staff has as its main targets: the study of the individual's motor capacities in comparison with the standard motor possibilities of their age, sex and social position, of the possibilities of transfer in order to improve life quality, the establishment of the best ways of prevention and intervention. The creation of programs which have as their purpose the self development skills of the teaching staff in accordance with particularities, through development and personal maintenance activities, the initiation of informal activities in partnership (psychomotor education specialist-academic community), the development of the services with regard to the teaching staff and their children in order to improve the child/teenager-parents relationship and the teaching staff's informing, educational and counseling actions. In addition the programs initiate some communication sessions, events, in order to promote models of good practice, the creation of some programs to form guidelines for credit awards and the elaboration of some support for the didactic activity focused on individual documentation with respect to health (nourishment, nutrition, support programs etc). The Center will conduct activities such as: aerobics, physical therapy, fitness, bodybuilding, table tennis, chess, outdoor activities and educational activities. In this way, we suggest the promotion through social policies and institutional ones of the establishment in each higher education institution of counseling centers for teachers and TESA staff. By accessing European funding and a consistent promotion of training in specially equipped rooms and outdoors benefits will be immediately demonstrated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
