Goals Of Work: In gynecological oncology, there is growing interest in the use of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) methods. The lack of data regarding side effects, the lack of any survival advantages, and the costs of these methods appear to have no influence on patients' decisions on whether to use CAM. Our interest was to evaluate the association between CAM use and the patients' quality of life/life satisfaction (QoL/LS).Materials and Methods: One thousand thirty women with breast cancer of gynecologic malignancies were asked to participate in this study, which included a questionnaire and a personal interview on CAM. User status was compared with the patient's own description of her QoL/LS and with the cancer type.Main Results: CAM was used by 48.7% of all women (n = 502). Breast cancer patients stated that they used CAM in 50.1% and women with gynecological cancer in 44.0%. The use of mistletoe was widespread (77.3%) and was more often seen in breast cancer patients than in gynecological cancer patients (74.4% vs 67.0%). CAM users less frequently stated an overall deterioration of their health status (35.1%) compared to nonusers (50.1%). CAM use resulted in a stated improvement in family conditions (6%) in comparison with the nonusers (2%).Conclusions: With regard to patients' perception of health status, CAM use is associated with a better coping with their disease. Most other categories of LS are not affected by CAM use. Patient-oriented information comparing standard therapies with CAM methods should be made widely available, and patients' expectations of CAM use should be discussed between the physician and the patient. Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs) constitute a family of multifunctional RNA-binding proteins able to process nuclear pre-mRNAs into mature mRNAs and regulate gene expression in multiple ways. They comprise at least 20 different members in mammals, named from A (HNRNP A1) to U (HNRNP U). Many of these proteins are components of the spliceosome complex and can modulate alternative splicing in a tissue-specific manner. Notably, while genes encoding hnRNPs exhibit ubiquitous expression, increasing evidence associate these proteins to various neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders, such as intellectual disability, epilepsy, microcephaly, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or dementias, highlighting their crucial role in the central nervous system. This review explores the evolution of the hnRNPs family, highlighting the emergence of numerous new members within this family, and sheds light on their implications for brain development. Nidovirales is one order of RNA virus, with the largest single-stranded positive sense RNA genome enwrapped with membrane envelope. It comprises four families (Arterividae, Mesoniviridae, Roniviridae, and Coronaviridae) and has been circulating in humans and animals for almost one century, posing great threat to livestock and poultry-as well as to public health. Nidovirales shares similar life cycle: attachment to cell surface, entry, primary translation of replicases, viral RNA replication in cytoplasm, translation of viral proteins, virion assembly, budding, and release. The viral RNA synthesis is the critical step during infection, including genomic RNA (gRNA) replication and subgenomic mRNAs (sg mRNAs) transcription. gRNA replication requires the synthesis of a negative sense full-length RNA intermediate, while the sg mRNAs transcription involves the synthesis of a nested set of negative sense subgenomic intermediates by a discontinuous strategy. This RNA synthesis process is mediated by the viral replication/transcription complex (RTC), which consists of several enzymatic replicases derived from the polyprotein 1a and polyprotein 1ab and several cellular proteins. These replicases and host factors represent the optimal potential therapeutic targets. Hereby, we summarize the Nidovirales classification, associated diseases, "replication organelle," replication and transcription mechanisms, as well as related regulatory factors. The progression of osteoarthritis (OA) requires the involvement of inflammation, in which chondrocyte damage plays a significant role. Hydroxysafflor yellow A (HSYA), the main active component in the medical and edible dual‐purpose plant safflower, has previously shown anti‐inflammatory effects in various diseases. However, the specific impact of HSYA on OA remains unclear. Here, we investigate the potential role and underlying mechanism of HSYA in chondrocyte damage during the progression of OA. The viability of C28/I2 and iCell‐0092a chondrocytes was measured by CCK8 assay at different concentrations (2.5, 10, 40, and 160 μM). The gene expression of the extracellular matrix was revealed by q‐PCR 24 h after IL‐1β treatment. ROS production and levels of pro‐inflammatory cytokines in C28/I2 cells treated with HSYA were measured by immunoflurescence stating and q‐PCR. The impact of HSYA on the extracellular matrix and inflammation in IL‐1β‐induced OA were detected by western blot, q‐PCR, and immunofluorescence staining. We assessed the effect of HSYA and NF‐κB signaling pathway‐related genes by bioinformatics analysis and conducted molecular docking to assess the interaction of HSYA with a combined protein residue molecule ligand. Western blot was employed to investigate NF‐κB transcription factors in chondrocyte metabolism. HSYA was found to reduce excessive ROS production induced by IL‐1β stimuli, inhibit the expression of matrix metalloproteinase 13, interleukin 6, and tumor necrosis factor‐α, and increase the expression of Type II collagen and SRY‐box transcription factor 9 (p <.05). Mechanistically, HSYA interacted with nuclear factor κB, inhibiting the nuclear translocation and phosphorylation level of NF‐κB p65, and decreasing the phosphorylation and degradation of IκBα (p <.05). In conclusion, HSYA ameliorates inflammation and cartilage damage in OA by inhibiting the NF‐κB pathway, suggesting its potential application as a therapeutic agent for OA treatment. This study explores the potential of radiomics to predict the proliferation marker protein Ki-67 levels and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER-2) status based on MRI images of patients with spinal metastasis from primary breast cancer. A total of 110 patients with pathologically confirmed spinal metastases from primary breast cancer were enrolled between Dec. 2017 and Dec. 2021. All patients underwent T1-weighted contrast-enhanced MRI scans. The PyRadiomics package was used to extract features from the MRI images based on the intraclass correlation coefficient and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator. The most predictive features were used to develop the radiomics signature. The Chi- Square test, Fisher's exact test, Student's t-test, and Mann--Whitney U test were used to evaluate the clinical and pathological characteristics between the highand low-level Ki-67 groups and the HER-2 positive/negative groups. The radiomics models were compared using receiver operating characteristic curve analysis. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), sensitivity (SEN), and specificity (SPE) were generated as comparison metrics. From the spinal MRI scans, five and two features were identified as the most predictive for the Ki-67 level and HER-2 status, respectively. The developed radiomics signatures generated good prediction performance for the Ki-67 level in the training (AUC = 0.812, 95% CI: 0.710--0.914, SEN = 0.667, SPE = 0.846) and validation (AUC = 0.799, 95% CI: 0.652--0.947, SEN = 0.722, SPE = 0.833) cohorts. Good prediction performance for the HER-2 status was also achieved in the training (AUC = 0.796, 95% CI: 0.686--0.906, SEN = 0.720, SPE = 0.776) and validation (AUC = 0.705, 95% CI: 0.506--0.904, SEN = 0.733, SPE = 0.762) cohorts. The results of this study provide a better understanding of the potential clinical implications of spinal MRI-based radiomics on the prediction of Ki-67 levels and HER-2 status in breast cancer. The geroscience hypothesis proposes that addressing the biology of aging could directly prevent the onset or mitigate the severity of multiple chronic diseases. Understanding the interplay between key aspects of the biological hallmarks of aging is essential in delivering the promises of the geroscience hypothesis. Notably, the nucleotide nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) interfaces with several biological hallmarks of aging, including cellular senescence, and changes in NAD metabolism have been shown to be involved in the aging process. The relationship between NAD metabolism and cellular senescence appears to be complex. On the one hand, the accumulation of DNA damage and mitochondrial dysfunction induced by low NAD+ can promote the development of senescence. On the other hand, the low NAD+ state that occurs during aging may inhibit SASP development as this secretory phenotype and the development of cellular senescence are both highly metabolically demanding. However, to date, the impact of NAD+ metabolism on the progression of the cellular senescence phenotype has not been fully characterized. Therefore, to explore the implications of NAD metabolism and NAD replacement therapies, it is essential to consider their interactions with other hallmarks of aging, including cellular senescence. Introduction. Pseudoangiomatous stromal hyperplasia (PASH) presenting as gigantomastia is rare in pregnancy but can result in severe clinical consequences for both mother and fetus. Case Presentation. A 43-year-old female with a history of biopsy-proven bilateral PASH presented at 22 3/7 weeks gestation with massive bilateral breast enlargement that was symptomatic. After multidisciplinary care, she underwent bilateral mastectomies and delivered at term with no additional complications. Conclusion. Pregnant women who undergo mastectomies for PASH-induced gigantomastia during their second trimesters will likely recover quickly, and fetal risks are low. Given the rarity of this breast entity, management guidelines are sparse. Our case report is an effort to comprehensively review this condition and share the clinical recommendations made by our institution's multidisciplinary team. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study sought to determine the student nurses' spirituality, religiosity, caring behavior, spiritual care, and personalized care. Further, it sought to determine the relationship between spirituality, religiosity, and caring behavior in student nurses' spiritual care and personalized care. The study used a descriptive correlational design using convenience sampling to collect data from 1248 student nurses in the Philippines from December 2023 to February 2024. We collected data using the Spirituality and Spiritual Care Scale rating scale and the Caring Behaviors Inventory. The study revealed that the mean scores of the students in their "spirituality" and "religiosity" were 4.08 (SD = 0.98) and 2.99 (SD = 1.26), respectively. Student nurses had sufficient confidence and skills in spiritual care, caring behavior, and personalized care. The students' age had a weak and negative association with the students' spirituality and religiosity. Students from University A had higher levels of spirituality and religiosity than students from University B, University C, and University D. Students in the 4th year level were more religious than 3rd year students. Students who had their last clinical exposure in the Admission and emergency room reported poorer caring behaviors than those who had previous clinical exposure in the Medical-surgical ward, Obstetrics and gynecology, Intensive Care Units, and Community. There is no significant relationship between a student nurse's spiritual care and caring behavior. This trend is similar to caring behavior and personalized care. Cancer remains the second leading cause of death, accounting for approximately 20% of all fatalities. Evolving cancer cells and a dysregulated immune system create complex tumor environments that fuel tumor growth, metastasis, and resistance. Over the past decades, significant progress in deciphering cancer cell behavior and recognizing the immune system as a hallmark of tumorigenesis has been achieved. However, the underlying mechanisms controlling the evolving cancer-immune landscape remain mostly unexplored. Heterogeneous nuclear ribonuclear proteins (hnRNP), a highly conserved family of RNA-binding proteins, have vital roles in critical cellular processes, including transcription, post-transcriptional modifications, and translation. Dysregulation of hnRNP is a critical contributor to cancer development and resistance. HnRNP contribute to the diversity of tumor and immune-associated aberrant proteomes by controlling alternative splicing and translation. They can also promote cancer-associated gene expression by regulating transcription factors, binding to DNA directly, or promoting chromatin remodeling. HnRNP are emerging as newly recognized mRNA readers. Here, we review the roles of hnRNP as regulators of the cancer-immune landscape. Dissecting the molecular functions of hnRNP will provide a better understanding of cancer-immune biology and will impact the development of new approaches to control and treat cancer.
