Enzimsko posmeđivanje ozbiljno narušava kakvoću svježe rezanog voća i povrća. U novije vrijeme, potrošači i prerađivači voća i povrća zahtijevaju da se umjesto kemijskih spojeva koriste prirodni inhibitori posmeđivanja. Iz praha kore ploda manga (Mangifera indica cv. Chok Anan) tretirane tekućim dušikom izdvojeni su polifenoli, i to ekstrakcijom potpomognutom ultrazvukom i ekstrakcijom potpomognutom ultrazvukom i miješanjem. Najveći ukupni udjel fenola u ekstraktu praha kore manga dobiven je ekstrakcijom potpomognutom ultrazvukom i miješanjem tijekom 15 min. Pri skladištenju se pirea od krumpira tretiranog prahom kore manga nakon 6 sati smanjilo njegovo posmeđivanje, dok su se svjetlina (L*) i kut promjene boje povećali u usporedbi s uzorcima pirea od krumpira tretiranim askorbinskom ili limunskom kiselinom. Ekstrakt praha kore manga imao je veći inhibicijski učinak na polifenolnu oksidazu u krumpiru nego askorbinska i limunska kiselina. Njegova vrijednost IC50 bila je 0,3 mg/mL. Mangiferin, protokatehinska i galna kiselina iz ekstrakta kore manga imali su jak inhibicijski učinak na polifenolnu oksidazu u krumpiru, pa je zaključeno da se kora manga može upotrijebiti kao prirodni inhibitor enzimskog posmeđivanja., Enzymatic browning is a serious quality deterioration of fresh-cut fruits and vegetables. Recently, consumers and fruit and vegetable industrial processors have demanded the use of natural antibrowning agents to replace the use of chemicals. Mango (Mangifera indica cv. Chok Anan) peel was prepared in the form of mango peel liquid nitrogen powder. This included extraction by ultrasound or ultrasound combined with stirring. The total phenolic content of mango peel liquid nitrogen powder extract (further in the text: mango peel extract) was the highest after the extraction for 15 min using ultrasound followed by stirring for 15 min. The browning value of potato puree treated with mango peel extract was lower, while its L* value and the hue angle were larger than of samples treated with ascorbic or citric acids during storage for 6 h. Mango peel extract had a competitive inhibitory effect on potato polyphenol oxidase (PPO), which was larger than either ascorbic or citric acid. Its IC50 value was 0.3 mg/mL. Mangiferin, protocatechuic and gallic acid found in mango peel extract had high inhibitory effect on potato PPO, making mango peel a potential natural source of enzymatic browning inhibitor.

Kesten pire je namirnica koja se na industrijski način proizvodi, a zbog svoje hranjive vrijednosti, specifičnog i prijatnog ukusa, sve više postaje sastavni dio obroka, naročito djece. Po svome kemijskom sastavu, kesten je vezan za proteine i masti te je korisna namirnica kako u pogledu kalorične, tako i u pogledu biološke vrijednosti, naročito radi visokog sadržaja (oko 40 %) linolne kiseline (Marić i sur., 1973.).

The ATLAS detector is installed in its experimental cavern at Point 1 of the CERN Large Hadron Collider. During Run 2 of the LHC, a luminosity of $\mathcal{L}=2\times 10^{34}\mathrm{cm}^{-2}\mathrm{s}^{-1}$ was routinely achieved at the start of fills, twice the design luminosity. For Run 3, accelerator improvements, notably luminosity levelling, allow sustained running at an instantaneous luminosity of $\mathcal{L}=2\times 10^{34}\mathrm{cm}^{-2}\mathrm{s}^{-1}$, with an average of up to 60 interactions per bunch crossing. The ATLAS detector has been upgraded to recover Run 1 single-lepton trigger thresholds while operating comfortably under Run 3 sustained pileup conditions. A fourth pixel layer 3.3 cm from the beam axis was added before Run 2 to improve vertex reconstruction and $b$-tagging performance. New Liquid Argon Calorimeter digital trigger electronics, with corresponding upgrades to the Trigger and Data Acquisition system, take advantage of a factor of 10 finer granularity to improve triggering on electrons, photons, taus, and hadronic signatures through increased pileup rejection. The inner muon endcap wheels were replaced by New Small Wheels with Micromegas and small-strip Thin Gap Chamber detectors, providing both precision tracking and Level-1 Muon trigger functionality. Tile Calorimeter scintillation counters were added to improve electron energy resolution and background rejection. Upgrades to Minimum Bias Trigger Scintillators and Forward Detectors improve luminosity monitoring and enable total proton-proton cross section, diffractive physics, and heavy ion measurements. These upgrades are all compatible with operation in the much harsher environment anticipated after the High-Luminosity upgrade of the LHC and are the first steps towards preparing ATLAS for the High-Luminosity upgrade of the LHC. Europski kesten (Castanea sativa Mill.) je rasprostranjen na području Hrvatske na mjestima srednje nadmorske visine te na područjima gdje prevladava kiselo tlo. Kesten kao namirnica odgovara trenutnim potrebama potrošača koji teže konzumaciji biološki aktivnim tvarima, a koje su osnove zdrave prehrane. Cilj ovog rada je izrada elaborata tehničko-tehnološkog rješenja pogona za preradu kestena te je opisan tehnološki postupak proizvodnje kesten pirea. Tehnološki opis proizvodnje prikazan je tekstualno i pomoću blok-shema uz potrebne strojeve i tehnološku opremu. S obzirom na zahtjeve proizvodnje određena je makrolokacija i mikrolokacija te ukupna materijalna i energetska bilanca. Efikasnost, ekonomičnost i visoko higijensko-sanitarni nivo postignuti su sprječavanjem mogućnosti križanja putova te kontakta proizvodnog i neproizvodnog osoblja. The European chestnut (Castanea sativa Mill.) is found in the area of Croatia at mid altitude sites and in areas where acidic soil prevails. Chestnut as a foodstuff responds to the current needs of consumers who seek to consume biologically active substances which are the basis for healthy eating. The aim of this paper is to develop a study of the technical-technological solution of the chestnut processing plant and describe the technological procedure for the production of chestnut puree. The technological description of the production is shown in textual form and block diagram together with the list of necessary machinery and technological equipment. Macrolocation, microlocation, total material and energy balance, were determined according to the production requirements. Efficiency, economy and high level of hygiene and sanitation were achieved by preventing the possibility of cross-contamination and the contact of production and non-production personnel.

This paper presents the implementation of a heterogeneous Hadoop cluster based on the Zynq ZedBoard development platform with GZIP FPGA offloading for high-speed and energy efficient computing. We have developed the first open source FPGA GZIP compressor, designed for educational and research purposes, that can reach 1 Gbps compression speed using a 125 MHz clock. The core uses only 10% of the Zynq-7020 SoC FPGA resources and is 5.7x faster than the ARM CPU which runs at 667 MHz. We implemented an eight-node Hadoop distributed cluster and performed the Wordcount and Terasort benchmarks using software and hardware GZIP compression during the Map stage. Results show an almost 2x more energy-efficient cluster when compression is done using our GZIP FPGA core than using the software compression. The performance of the Hadoop cluster is limited by the 512 MB of RAM and the low read-write speed of the SD cards which act as hard drives for each node.

18. Volatile compounds, antioxidant activity, ACE inhibitory activity, HMF content and microstructure of fruit yoghurts

Stirred-type fruit yoghurts with two different fruit purees (kiwifruit and banana) were produced and were investigated the physicochemical, volatile compounds, 2,2-diphenylpicrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging activity, cupric ion reducing capability (CUPRAC), total phenolic compounds (TPC), angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitory activity, 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) content, reducing sugar content and microstructure. The addition of fruit puree affected (p<0.01) total solids, fat, protein, ash, L*, a*, b*, volatile compounds, DPPH, CUPRAC, TPC, ACE inhibitory activity, HMF content, reducing sugar content and overall acceptability whereas it had an insignificant effect on the pH, titratable acidity, apparent viscosity, syneresis (p>0.05). Storage period significantly (p<0.01) affected the titratable acidity, DPPH, CUPRAC, TPC, ACE inhibitory activity, HMF content, reducing sugar content and overall acceptability, as well as the pH, apparent viscosity and a* (p<0.05). Although the addition of banana and kiwi relatively suppressed the characteristic flavour of the experimental yoghurt samples, it improved the DPPH, CUPRAC and TPC. On the other hand, the addition of banana-kiwi was found to increase the content of HMF, the toxic compound. Yoghurt can be recommended as an important source of bioactive compounds with ACE inhibitory activity. According to the microstructure analysis results, a more homogeneous structure was observed in the control group samples compared to the fruit-added yoghurt samples and it was determined that the serum pore diameters were smaller., U ovom radu su proizvedeni tekući voćni jogurti s dodatkom dva različita voćna pirea (kivi i banana). Svim uzorcima su određivana fizikalno-kemijska svojstva, udio hlapljivih spojeva, antioksidacijska aktivnost primjenom 2,2-difenilpilhidrazil (DPPH) i CUPRAC metoda, udio ukupnih fenola (TPC), sposobnost inhibicije angiotensin konvertirajućeg enzima (ACE), udio 5-hidroksimetilfurfurala (HMF), udio reducirajućih šećera i mikrostruktura. Dodatak voćnog pirea značajno je (p<0,01) utjecao na udjele ukupne suhe tvari, masti, proteina, pepela, parametre boje (vrijednosti L*, a*, b*), udio hlapljivih spojeva, vrijednosti antioksidacijske aktivnosti određene metodama DPPH i CUPRAC, udio TPC, stupanj ACE inhibicijske aktivnosti, udio HMF-a i reducirajućeg šećera, kao i na i ukupnu senzorsku prihvatljivost jogurta, dok nije utvrđen značajan (p>0,05) učinak na pH vrijednost, titracijsku kiselost, prividnu viskoznost i sinerezu. Trajanje skladištenja je vrlo značajno (p<0,01) utjecalo na titracijsku kiselost, vrijednosti antioksidacijske aktivnosti određene metodama DPPH i CUPRAC, udio TPC, stupanj ACE inhibicijske aktivnosti, udio HMF-a, smanjenje udjela reducirajućih šećera i ukupnu prihvatljivost, dok je značajno (p<0,05) utjecalo na pH vrijednost, prividnu viskoznost i a*. Iako je dodavanje banane i kivija relativno potisnulo karakteristični okus eksperimentalnih uzoraka jogurta, poboljšao je vrijednosti antioksidacijske aktivnosti određene metodama DPPH i CUPRAC, udio TPC. S druge strane, otkriveno je da dodavanje banane-kivija povećava sadržaj HMF, toksičnog spoja. Jogurt se može preporučiti kao važan izvor bioaktivnih spojeva s ACE inhibitornom aktivnošću. Prema rezultatima mikrostrukturne analize, u uzorcima kontrolne skupine utvrđena je homogenija struktura u usporedbi s uzorcima jogurta s dodanim voćem i utvrđeno je da su promjeri pora u serumu manji.

The aim of this work was to substantiate the use of whey protein extract (WPE), a by-product of dairy industry, combined with different berry purees in the formulation of a whipped frozen dairy dessert (WFDD). After freezing, the swelling ability of WPE decreased significantly while at higher temperatures of the dispersion medium, the degree of swelling increased. A mixture containing 55±2 % WPE and 45±2 % milk presented a homogeneous consistency while the further processing did not improve the structure of the mixture. Final formulations of WFDD containing different berry purees (i.e. 10 % black¬currant puree, 25 % cherry puree, or 30 % strawberry puree) were proposed for which the nutritional facts were calculated. Recommended shelf life of the developed desserts at -18 °C is suggested to be 20 days. Regulatory requirements and recommendations for the production of WFDD in an industrial scale were also developed. Nakon smrzavanja, sposobnost bubrenja WPE značajno je pala, međutim pri višim temperaturama medija za raspršivanje sposobnost bubrenja ponovno je rasla. U pogledu konzistencije najboljom se pokazala mješavina koja se sastojala od 55±2 % WPE i 45±2 % mlijeka te daljnja prera¬da nije rezultirala poboljšanjem teksture mješavine. Za konačne recepture WFDD s različitim udjelima pirea bobičastog voća (10 % pirea crnog ribizla, 25 % pirea višnje ili 30 % pirea jagode) napravljeni su izračuni prehrambene vrijednosti. Preporučeni rok trajanja za proizvedene deserte iznosio je 20 dana na temperaturi čuvanja -18 °C. Osim toga, uspostavljeni su zahtjevi sukladno zakonskim propisima kao i odgovarajuće preporuke za proizvodnju WFDD u industrijskom mjerilu. Zaključno, razvoj proizvodnje WFDD uključuje primjenu nusprizvoda mljekarske industrije - WPE.

In this research the effect of the addition of sea buckthorn puree (Hippophae rhamnoides L.) to goat cream butter was examined via analysis of its textural, physicochemical and sensory properties. Consumer acceptance was assessed. The addition of sea buckthorn promoted a stickiness and acidic flavour compared to the original goat butter. The number of consumers who liked goat butter increased by 35%. The optimal amount of sea buckthorn added was determined as 1.5%. A larger amount had a negative effect on the colour, as well as creating a more acidic flavour and fruit aroma., U ovom radu je ispitivan dodatak pirea pasjeg trna (Hippophae rhamnoides L.) maslacu od kozjeg mlijeka pri čemu su određivani parametri teksture, fizikalno-kemijska i senzorska svojstva maslaca. Također, ispitivana je i prihvatljivost od strane potrošača. Dodatak pasjeg trna povećao je ljepljivost i aromu kiselosti u usporedbi s originalnim kozjim maslacem. Udio potrošača kojima se sviđao tako obogaćen maslac od kozjeg mlijeka narastao je za 35 %. Pokazalo se da je optimalna količina dodatka pasjeg trna 1,5 %. Veće količine dodatka utjecale su negativno na boju te na nastanak izraženijeg kiselog okusa i voćne arome.

In recent years, culture has been addressed as a key component of integrated approaches to local development planning. In this context, it has been systematically combined with institutional and social aspects of local planning strategies and in support of local innovation/creativity systems. However, the articulation of these integrated approaches inhibits a wide typology of context-specific actions in European cities adopting different patterns of promoting culture as an innovative dimension of spatial planning. At the same time, recent discussion in the field suggests the adoption of more holistic frameworks that equally address the role of culture with differentiated aspects such as physical renewal, social relations and governance networks, hence recognising the integrated character of culture-driven interventions and explaining hindering development factors. The present paper aims to elaborate on the importance of such a holistic framework by testing its aspects in the context of the Piraeus Avenue area in Athens (Greece) and the (short-term and fragmented) emanating of developmental policies in support of the creativity and innovation that exist in this locality. The research focuses on the impact of cultural interventions in the Piraeus Avenue area in terms of the building of territorial efficiency, territorial quality, territorial identity and territorial capacity. In parallel, the research addresses the role of demographic and socio-economic parameters in this regard. To address these research aim issues, desktop research together with ten (10) semi-structured interviews with local stakeholders were conducted. Results indicate several positive impacts in the area mostly regarding spatial quality. However, in relation to territorial capacity building, a key finding is the need for activation towards building complementary uses and activities with other types of local stakeholders with accentuated decision-making powers. The research findings can serve to inform policy-making by identifying best practices and key challenges in the formulation of a holistic impact assessment framework towards culture-based spatial development planning in the European space. The concentration of copper (Cu) was determined in 110 samples of fruit (n = 31) and vegetable products (n = 79), collected during the period from January 2015 to December 2019. Fruit and vegetable products originate from 17 countries, including Serbia. Samples were analysed by inductively coupled plasma - optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES). Measurable levels of Cu were found in all analysed samples. Overall, Cu levels ranged from 0.065 to 14.050 mg kg
-1 , with an average of 1.314 mg kg-1 . Only 3 (2.73%) of fruit and vegetable products exceeded the maximum levels set by Serbian Regulation which was valid until the end of 2019. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published

Once the new Serbian Regulation on the quality of fruit jams, jellies, marmalades and sweetened chestnut puree (101/2015) was issued, the former Regulation on the quality of fruit, vegetables, mushrooms and pectin preparations (01/79) ceased. Former Regulation was an excellent document, which had to be changed upon the harmonization of laws with European Union (EU). By interpreting the "old" regulations it is obvious that the share of fruit in the gelled product was very high, much higher than under the new regulation. The new Regulations of R. of Serbia recognize a categorization of the following nine products: jam, extra jam, jelly, extra jelly, marmalade, jelly marmalade, domestic marmalade ("domaća marmelada"), sweetened chestnut puree and pekmez. Domestic marmalade and pekmez weren't recognized in the Directive (2001/113/EC), but are result of harmonization of regulations and introduction of novelties that are specific to individual EU members. In terms of specific quality requirements, each of the nine groups is defined separately. The new Regulations (101/2015) define jam as a product containing some smaller portion of fruit (350g/kg), while the extra jam should not contain less than 450 g/kg of a fruit in the final product. It is noticeable that there are some distinctive differences relating the product quality in these two Regulations: jam and extra jam could contain a considerably smaller fruit content in the final product comparing the old regulations; the quality standards for domestic marmalade are the same as were for former marmalade. The quality is higher than quality of the best products of the other groups, such as extra jam. In case of domestic strawberry marmalade and strawberry extra jam, the fruit content of 800g/kg is almost twice times higher than of extra jam (450g/kg)., U skladu sa Zakonom o bezbednosti hrane donet je "novi" Pravilnik o kvalitetu voćnih džemova, želea, marmelade, pekmeza i zaslađenog kesten pirea. Danom njegovog stupanja na snagu prestaje da važi "stari" Pravilnik o kvalitetu proizvoda od voća, povrća, pečurki i pektinskih preparata, u delu koji se odnosi na želirane proizvode. Izmene ovih propisa nisu bili rezultat zahteva struke ili potrošača za promenom, već su rezultat državnog opredeljenja za članstvom u Evropskoj uniji. Sadržaj suve materije morao je po "starim" propisima biti min. 65% za džem, odnosno min. 67% za marmeladu, pri čemu min. 6% mora poticati iz voća za džem, odnosno min. 7% za marmeladu. Po "novim" propisima sadržaj suve materije je min. 60%, osim za domaću marmeladu gde je min. 67%. Sadržaj voća se kod svih grupa kreće od 200g/kg do 450 g/kg, osim za domaću marmeladu od 350g/kg do 800g/kg. To jasno ukazuje da je i sadržaj šećera i sadržaj voća u finalnom proizvodu bio značajno viši po "starim" propisima nego po "novim" propisima. Upravo su to bili razlozi da se u "novim" propisima, usklađenim sa Evropskom unijom, uvede jedna nova grupa proizvoda koja će se zvati "domaća marmelada". Razlog za izdvajanje domaće marmelade od ostalih grupa je da se zadrži stari, prepoznatljiv i visok kvalitet proizvoda, a koji se nekada zvao samo marmelada.

By compiling data from literature and unpublished reports a more detailed description is presented on the geographical and stratigraphic distribution of the Alum Shale Formation (ASF) and correlateable units on the East European Platform. In the northern part of Gotland, downfaulted patchy beds of the ASF indicate a former wider extension of the formation. Lower Ordovician (Tremadocian) examples of downfaulted patchy beds are the contemporaneous Sepopol and Nivenskaya formations in northeastern Poland and the Kaliningrad area, as well as the Salantai Formation in the east Baltic area. It is indicated that Furongian-Tremadocian beds, contemporaneous with the Kallavere, Türisalu, Tosna and Koporye formations, in the area of northern Estonia and the northwestern part of the Moscow Basin, extended to the Gotland and the South Bothnian Basin areas. South of Gotland, in the Swedish sector of the Baltic Basin, drill cores show evidence of tectonic movements through the presence of erosional surfaces indicating occasional subaerial exposure. In this region, variations in the areal extent and thickness of the ASF and coeval formations are suggested to be the result of epeirogenic and tectonic block movements. Tremadocian ASF is also indicated to be present south of Gotland. On Gotland, at least 5 m of the ASF is presumed to have been eroded. The Moscow Basin contains 19 m of dark shales (Koporye Formation) which is significantly thicker than in surrounding areas. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The European Commission has established legislation for toxic metals in certain foodstuffs in order to protect public health already in 1993. After several amendments, new maximum levels for cadmium and lead in certain foods were set as per 30 and 31 August 2021 for lead and cadmium, respectively. The new Serbian Regulation on "maximum levels of certain contaminants in food" is fully harmonised with this European legislation. The concentrations of cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), and arsenic (As) were determined in 832 samples of 39 species of fruits and processed fruits, collected during the period January 2015 to December 2017. Fruits and fruit products originated from 45 countries, including Serbia. Samples were analysed by inductively coupled plasma – optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES). Concentrations of cadmium, lead, mercury, and arsenic in fruits and fruit products were compared to these maximum levels (MLs). Overall, measurable Cd, Pb, Hg, and As were found in 377 samples (45.3%). According to the former regulations, the maximum levels of Cd and Pb for analysed fruits and fruit products were exceeded in only 10 samples (1.20%; n = 832): Cd in 6 and Pb in 4 samples, but according to the latest regulations, the maximum levels of Cd and Pb for fruits were exceeded in 196 of the samples (23.9%; n = 820): Cd in 191 and Pb in 5 samples. The increase of ML exceedances shows that attention needs to be paid for compliance of food to the recent MLs for these metals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

New acritarch data from the Kistedalen Formation based on two sections with continuous exposure enable us to establish the most detailed Miaolingian acritarch biozonation in Baltica to date. Six interval zones previously established in Gondwana, the Eliasum llaniscum, Cristallinium cambriense, Adara alea, Timofeevia lancarae, Cristallinium dubium and Vulcanisphaera turbata zones, are identified, and their correlations within the Acado‐Baltic Province examined. The diagnoses of Retisphaeridium, Cristallinium, Retisphaeridium dichamerum, Retisphaeridium lechistanium, Cristallinium dubium and Cristallinium cambriense are emended and the new species Retisphaeridium rugulatum sp. nov. and Retisphaeridium minimum sp. nov. are described. The diagnosis of Retisphaeridium ovillense (Cramer & Díez) Vanguestaine is emended and the species assigned to Dictyotidium ovillense comb. nov. The main evolutionary changes of the placoid acritarchs during the Miaolingian are analysed. Comparison with previous acritarch data from the Kistedalen Formation suggests that different extraction methodologies may result in significant bias in the recovered fossil record. Abstract: We present here the results of a pilot study on Cambrian acritarchs from Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, based on a material from the MacLean Brook Formation in the Mira River Valley. An assemblage from the base of the formation contains 8 species including Eliasum llaniscum, Cristallinium dubium and Symplassosphaeridium cambriense, and correlates with a position close to the Paradoxides davidis–P. forchhammeri Zone boundary. An assemblage from the upper part of the formation contains 16 species, of which 3 are new, including Cristallinium aciculatum, Petaloferidium lacrimiferum n. sp., Pirea orbicularis, Stelliferidium pingiculum, S. magnum n. sp., S. albanii n.sp, and Timofeevia microretis, correlated to the Olenus Zone. The upper assemblage is particularly noteworthy as it provides the first direct evidence for the Olenus Zone in the MacLean Brook Formation. Furthermore, it contains stratigraphically significant taxa known from sections on Baltica, and northern Gondwana but which have not been reported previously on Avalonia. The distinction between Stelliferidium and Timofeevia is discussed in part based on new data on Timofeevia lancarae from its type area in northern Spain. It is suggested that many reports of Furongian Timofeevia phosphoritica and T. lancarae are better referred to Stelliferidium. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

The Batavian name Pero is best understood as a derivative of Germanic *perō 'pear'. Names that also feature the root per - are recorded from other parts of the Roman Empire in connection with Germanic speakers and seem to reflect the influence of pear growing in the Roman provinces. This influence was so great that the name of the p -rune also appears to have been derived from *perō 'pear'. The early Germanic names Pero, Uxperus and Gamuxperus seem to represent occupation names, and are consistent with archaeobotanical evidence for the development of pear cultivation in the Germanic-speaking provinces of the Empire. Acritarchs, microphytoplankton of algal protists, from the Shiala and Yong Limestone formations of the Gunji village along Kali river (upstream) of Kumaon Tethyan Himalaya, Pithoragarh district, Uttrakhand, India have been examined for the first time. It aims to test the basin-wide existence and testing the reliability of already locally established biozones from the Garhwal Tethys Himalaya, Chamoli district, Uttrakhand. The study reveals moderate to poorly preserved, matured assemblages and diversified forms of acritarchs from both formations. The assemblage includes sphaeromorphs, acanthomorphs, netromorphs, polygonomorphs, diacromorphs, herkomorphs, etc. Two palynoassemblages have been recognized each from the Shiala and Yong Limestone formations. Palynoassemblage (I) from the Shiala Formation is confirmed by one productive sample which reveals a mix of Late Ordovician and Silurian forms. The acritarchs assemblage assigned to 16 genera with at least 13 species. The acritarchs from the Yong Limestone Formation are more plentiful and diverse confirming the Palynoassemblage (II) that contains biostratigraphically significant forms of typical Silurian (Ludlow) age. This Palynoassemblage is assigned to 23 genera with 16 species. The paper also describes the possible reasons for floral difference from the same formation and basin sampled at two different localities of the Tethys Himalaya, possibly due to palaeoclimatic constraints. However, detailed work on this aspect is required. The palynoassemblages from both the formations describe morphologically non-distinct, ubiquitous, wide palaeogeographic spread and uncertain stratigraphic taxa too along with biostratigraphic significant forms. This paper explores the link between memory and history 'from below' as well as the (non-) use of histories of past migration in Greece. It analyses how the memory of the 1920s Asia Minor refugees was guarded by Greek state over the course of time. It explores how state agents (historiography, education system, commemorations, etc.) acted as guardians of collective memory 'from above', presenting a rosy past that ignored the experiences of these refugees in Greece. It also examines how this process of constructing historical memory 'from above' (re)produced national belonging through homogeneity, without taking notice of refugees' diversities or problems faced during their settlement in the social, cultural or economic space of Greece. The paper adopts a critical approach to the cultural and social spaces in which refugee memory was selectively constructed as the only past that has to be remembered, stored and recalled, and aims to rescue from oblivion memories that were condemned to silence in the contemporary national narrative. These silenced memories could help us to write a history 'from below' and find analogies with the experiences of contemporary refugee flows as well as to combat ever-present xenophobia, prejudice and racism in the present society. The Pin Formation of the northern Indian Himalaya may contain a record of the late Katian (Late Ordovician) warming event (the Boda Event). Palynological samples collected from two members of this formation are investigated in order to evaluate the biostratigraphical potential of the different microfossil groups. Acritarchs and chitinozoans are the most abundant microfossils, but fragments of scolecodonts and melanosclerites are also present. Several of the acritarchs from the Pin Formation are long-ranging through the lower Palaeozoic, but other taxa can be compared to Upper Ordovician (Katian) assemblages described from other parts of the world. The chitinozoan assemblages, consisting of 13 species (including those in open nomenclature) belonging to seven genera, are mainly recorded from two layers. The chitinozoan assemblage collected from the sample at 87.3 m in the uppermost part of the Farka Muth Member, and that collected at 184.89 m from the Takche Member, indicate a late Katian age. This age interpretation is in accordance with conodont data from the Takche Member, a positive carbon isotopic peak from the top of a shale unit in the Takche Member, and the initial part of the rapid negative shift of the Paroveja isotopic excursion related to the Boda Event of late Katian age. Further detailed studies with a higher number of samples are needed, that describe better preserved and more diversified palynomorph assemblages, which would help to more precisely refine the Upper Ordovician biostratigraphy in this area. Social changes and political tensions had a great impact on Greek football clubs during the interwar period. Earlier, the establishment of the first sports clubs in Greece was associated with the rise of the middle classes, whose members carried liberal perceptions and a new code of conduct. Football was placed in the 'civilizing process', as the process of 'sportization' was only possible in societies where political differences were resolved by non-violent means and where groups of citizens obeyed common acceptable rules. In this sense, football was not just a physical activity, but a social process, as well. In the case of Greece, the arrival of refugee populations and the rapid urbanization resulted in the popularization of sports. Throughout Greece, hundreds of sports clubs were founded, which mainly cultivated the new 'craze' of football. New collectivities were forged in the neighborhoods of the cities, and a new football culture was cultivated, which was fed by interwar identities that often appeared as opposing couples and interacted with each other, namely: native-refugee, middle class-worker and so on. As a result, in the football fields, along with the new folk heroes, the new phenomena of fanaticism and violence were born. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

50. Modification of Natural Rubber with Methyl Methacrylate and Diacetone Acrylamide Polymers by O-Carboxymethyl Chitosan.

- Abstract
A new type of cross-linked copolymer granule was synthesized via emulsion polymerization and was characterized by FTIR spectroscopy. The O-carboxymethyl-chitosan was used as emulsifier for the copolymerization of methyl methacrylate and diacetone acrylamide. The resulting copolymer latex showed good compatibility with natural rubber. Morphology and surface roughness of modified natural rubber were measured by SEM and AFM. The tensile strength of natural rubber film reaches the maximum when the amount of additive was about 4%. Glass transition temperature and aging resistance were elevated. Protein spillage dropped in ca. 5 times, which could meet the minimum of the allergy protein. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
