Abstract
- Build a table that's sturdy enough to hold a heavy weight! The catch? Students can only use eight sheets of newspaper, one piece of cardboard, and masking tape. This article describes "Paper Table," a hands-on activity from "Design Squad," in which kids investigate structures while following the steps of the engineering design process. Teachers can drive home the concepts and make the learning even more meaningful by integrating "Design Squad's" multimedia resources (like episodes, animations, video clips, and engineering profiles) into the activity.
