Abstract
- This article discusses the international interdependence Hexagon Project for Haiti which invites students, ages five through eighteen, to create an image within a hexagonal template and respond to big questions surrounding a global culture of interdependence. The hexagon is a visual metaphor for interdependence, with its potential to infinitely link together. Through the Hexagon Project, the students were involved in learning that art can be an activity of the heart and between hearts. The students created hexagons to send to young Haitians shortly after the January 12 earthquake that killed nearly 230,000 Haitians. They were also participating in the International Interdependence Project IV, which focuses on devising ways in which people can coexist creatively and collaboratively.
