Abstract
- Looks at the "Passport to Success" scheme introduced by the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce in a bid to address the employability skills problem among young people. States that the scheme was launched in September 2001 in partnership with a local comprehensive school with the intention of helping pupils make the transition from school into the working world with the relevant skills and abilities companies search for in potential employees. Examines the scheme and its implementation. Concludes that although the Passport to Success is still in its infancy, it has had an influence on the collaborative effort of the schools and local businesses and hopefully will go on to benefit the whole economy.
