'Brain Drain' from Turkey: Survey Evidence of Student Non-Return.

An Internet survey of Turkish students studying abroad received 1,103 responses. Although 53% initially intended to return, only 13.5% have that intention currently. Reasons for staying abroad include better career prospects, Turkish economic conditions, lack of relevant work in Turkey, and avoidance of compulsory military service. (Contains 28 references.) (SK)
