More Authors, More Institutions, and More Funding Sources: Hot Papers in Biology from 1991 to 1993.

Abstract: A bibliometric study analyzed the authorship of biology periodicals, "Nature,""Science," and "Cell" from 1991 to 1993. The source data consisted of "hot papers" in biology and a sample of articles from the three periodicals. Results showed that the hot papers have more authors and participating institutions, and that funding sources are related to the number of authors. (JMK)
