Abstract
- Analyzes the visual form of three newspapers' front pages from 1885 to 1985. Finds that front pages became a more uniform, more efficient map of the news. Concludes that ideas behind this "design revolution" (with their sources in design theory and news ideology rather than in economics or technology) have been influencing front pages for over 50 years.
