Prospects for Graduate Education and Job Opportunities in Physiology

This paper presents approximate numbers of professional physiologists in the United States, the number of graduate students, their support, numbers needed for replacement, and possibilities for growth. The author concludes that job opportunities are limited and voluntary reduction of graduate training programs, to emphasize quality over quantity, would be wise. (Author/MA)
