Student Affairs Practitioners as Leadership Educators? A Content Analysis of Preparatory Programs

Abstract
- This online content analysis was designed to better understand the landscape of leadership courses offered in student affairs preparatory programs. Specifically, we wanted to explore if graduates are inherently prepared to serve in the leadership educator capacity. Our data indicates the field has significant work to do. Approximately 40% of these programs do not offer a leadership course. More so, these courses focus on personal leadership skills--not leadership theory nor facilitation skills.
