Abstract

This article includes a discussion of two counseling cases as handled by "naive perceptualists" as well as thoughts concerning some effects of empathy and respect and how they relate to behavior modification. "Naive perceptualist" refers to the novice, client-centered counselor who makes no attempt to be selective in his empathy and respect, and is probably unaware of what behavior he is reinforcing.
