Abstract
- This quantitative study focused on the Algebra 1 End-Of-Course Exam Program (EOCEP) exam that students must complete if they are enrolled in beginning algebra classes. The research focused on one school, the high schools within this school's district, and South Carolina. The purpose of the study was to determine if there was a relationship between the federal legislation of No Child Left Behind and Every Student Succeeds Act to the Algebra 1 EOCEP exam with a Pearson Correlation. The study also evaluated the Algebra 1 EOCEP exam average scores with the beginning algebra courses offered in South Carolina through the school years ending in 2011 through 2022 using a Spearman Rank Correlation. Both correlational formulas yielded negative relationships of strong and weak respectively. [The dissertation citations contained here are published with the permission of ProQuest LLC.
