Abstract

Twelve monthly issues of this magazine for parents and others concerned with children with disabilities are contained in this document. Individual issues typically include a number of articles based on the issues theme, a special report, research reflections, and regular columns covering news items, practical answers to child rearing problems, book reviews, a legislative update, new products, and a childrens page. A continuing series addresses the oral health of people with disabilities. Individual issues address the following themes: (1) organizational and agency resources; (2) early childhood; (3) life planning; (4) medical research; (5) transitioning; (6) technology; (7) teenagers and young adults; (8) infant health and development; (9) education; (10) toys; (11) stress management; and (12) family and community. Other topics highlighted in various issues include autism and the measles/mumps/rubella vaccine, making summer plans, mobility, the treatment of childhood movement disorders, research on traumatic brain injury, adaptive track and field, military special programs, empowering parents, a listing of schools and camps, and assistance dogs.
