Chat Reference. SPEC Kit.

This SPEC (Systems and Procedures Exchange Center) Kit presents the results of a survey of Association of Research Libraries (ARL) member libraries designed to gather data on chat reference service. A total of 66 of 124 ARL member libraries responded to the survey. A copy of the questionnaire with tabulated results is presented. Representative documents include: (1) chat reference on the Web home pages from 12 libraries; (2) policies and guidelines from 11 libraries; (3) training documents from ten libraries; (4) evaluation forms from six libraries; and (5) information on collaborative projects from three libraries. A list of selected resources includes 28 books and articles and 5 Web site addresses. (MES)
