Abstract
- This inventory, is based on the database derived from Assessment Strategies in Scottish Higher Education (ASSHE) project, a survey of information about changing assessment practices in all 22 Scottish higher educational institutions. Its aims are to spotlight the diversity of assessment strategies and practices, identify core themes and directions, and offer a representative selection of assessment initiatives found in Scottish higher education. Respondents were asked to focus specifically on changes in what was being assessed; in when and where assessment was taking place; and in who was involved in evaluating and assessing students' work. Each of the 124 representative responses follows a common format noting: where the assessment initiative was introduced; the title and a summary of the initiative; the starting date and the impact of the initiative in terms of scale (course or degree program) and its wider adoption; and an estimate of the number of students affected, a current contact address, and a reference number. Responses are grouped into eight sections: "General"; "Assessing Presentation Skills"; "Assessing Group- and Teamwork"; "Assessing Other Skills"; "Using Computing and Information Technology in Assessment"; "Involving Students and Others in Assessment"; "Test and Examinations"; and "Coursework Assessment."
