About 300 job titles are listed and defined with an illustration of a child working in each one in this specialized dictionary. Approximate phonetic pronunciations are given. Both girls and boys of various racial or ethnic backgrounds are used in the illustrations. Discussion of the world of work, getting a job, kinds of jobs, careers, and the concept of job clusters are included. Activities suggested include a class job fair, radio or television talk show, role play, card sort, and special reports. Jobs are distinguished from careers. Included in the section "Getting a Job" are information and samples of resumes, job applications, and a cover letter. There are units on interviewing and job skills.
