Abstract

This teacher's resource guide is designed to accompany resource packets that include fine art reproductions. The resource introduces students to the accomplishments and contributions of eight 20th century women artists: Isabel Bishop; Jenny Holzer; Kathe Kollwitz; Maya Ying Lin; Mary Ellen Mark; Maria Martinez; Alice Neel; and Faith Ringgold. This guide, which is geared toward use with junior high school and senior high school students, includes an introduction, a student survey, instructional strategies, a brief history and a time line of women artists. Each unit presents objectives, information, and resources for subject related content and activities centered in each of the disciplines of art education: art criticism, art history, aesthetics, and art production. Vocabulary terms, assessment guides, student planning sheets, worksheets, and bibliographies are provided for each unit. Contains 29 references and information about the author. (MM)
