Abstract

This data brief provides statistical data about the population of scientists and engineers in the United States with doctorates from United States institutions. The report contains data related to the unemployment of scientists and engineers, employment and gender, employment and racial/ethnic identity, and employment in various sectors. The four tables provided are as follows: (1) "Employment Status of Doctoral Scientists and Engineers by Broad Field: 1993 and 1995"; (2) "Doctoral Scientists and Engineers by Employment Status, Sex, and Race/Ethnicity: 1995"; (3) "Employed Doctoral Scientists and Engineers, by Field of Doctorate, Sex and Race/Ethnicity: 1995"; and (4) "Employed Doctoral Scientists and Engineers, by Field of Doctorate and Sector of Employment: 1995."
