A Structured Approach to Homepage Design.

With no standards governing their creation, a variety of formats are being used for World Wide Web homepages. Some are well organized, present their information clearly, and work with multiple browsers. Others, however, are slow to load, function poorly with some Web browsing software, and are so badly structured that they are very difficult to read. This paper's structured programming approach offers general guidelines for creating Web sites, with an emphasis both on clarity of presentation and on taking advantage of the ease and flexibility of HTML (hypertext markup language) source code. "Structured" HTML is discussed, along with overall suggestions and general guidelines for home page design and construction. Other topics include the planning process for homepages, an overview of Web browsers, and use of graphics. (Author/SWC)
