Abstract
- The purpose of this paper was to examine the procedures a state may use to implement a teacher incentive program to recruit individuals into the profession. This paper describes the selection and monitoring process Missouri uses to implement its state incentive program. The intent of the Missouri Teacher Education Scholarship program is to attract academically talented individuals into the teaching profession. A profile of the recipients indicates that the average American College Testing (ACT) score for the Missouri recipient is at the 85th percentile and the average class rank is 13 percent. Most of the recipients are females wishing to teach at the elementary level. (Author)
