A glossary of commonly used and subject-area English words and their Arabic equivalents with romanization was prepared for teachers and Arabic-speaking, limited-English-speaking children in the Chicago public schools. It consists of: (1) a key to Arabic pronunciation of velarized consonants, glottal consonants, and Arabic double-consonants; (2) a list of common words; and (3) subject area-related words for art, audiovisual matters, foreign languages, language arts, library science, mathematics, music, physical education, Reserve Officer Training Corps, science, social studies, and English as a second language. A reprint of a Library of Congress processing bulletin on Arabic romanization is appended. (MSE)
