Abstract
- This curriculum guide is intended for use in teaching an instructional unit in tractor and machinery safety that is geared toward college freshmen. Addressed in the individual lessons of the unit are the following topics: understanding the importance of safe and efficient tractor operation, understanding the characteristics of tractors, preparing tractors for operation, starting and stopping the tractor, driving a tractor, hitching and unhitching farm implements, and farm-machinery accident situations. Each lesson contains some or all of the following: a statement of need; a suggested reading assignment; objectives; key questions, problems, and concerns along with pertinent teaching techniques and information; suggested learning activities; a list of references; transparency masters; and handouts.
