Abstract

In many ways the 1977-78 third year of operation of the Rural Community Resource Centre (Brandon, Manitoba) closely reflected the stresses and dynamics of the society in which it exists. Fiscal uncertainty resulted in critical analysis of the objectives and operations of the Centre and increased accountability for government granted funds. The Northern Advisory Committee was formed to focus specifically on regional issues. The Centre was involved in some 45 projects, 28 of which were initiated during the past year, in the areas of information and research, community and organizational consultation, and leadership education. The Rural Archives, housed at Brandon University, continued to collect documents tracing the activity, growth, and development of Manitoba communities, and the archives staff conducted local history workshops for over 200 Manitoba residents and provided reference, referral, public relations, and consultation services. In addition to a summary of activities, the report includes a message from the Board Chairperson, a listing of members of the Board of Directors, the financial report, and a collage of newspaper clippings highlighting the year's work.
