The Illustator's Notebook.

In this book, intended for artists who have little knowledge of the development and history of illustation (particularly in the children's book field), artists describe their philosophies, standards, and techniques for illustrating books. The articles are organized under four general headings: the history and philosophy of illustration, notes about artists and by artists' about their work, some techniques used in illustrations, and notes about illustration as communication. Articles, books, and catalogs for reading and reference are suggested. Numerous illustrations accompany the text. (RL)
