Separate chapters discuss how to approach a publisher, how a publisher evaluates a proposal or manuscript, how to understand and negotiate a book contract, how to prepare a final manuscript, how a manuscript is processed by a publisher, how a manuscript is turned into a finished book, how a publisher markets a book, and the alternatives of small presses, university presses, vanity presses, and self-publishing.
