Diesel Mechanics. Performance Objectives. Intermediate Course.

Several intermediate performance objectives and corresponding criterion measures are listed for each of six terminal objectives for an intermediate diesel mechanics course (two semesters, 3 hours daily) designed for high school students who upon completion would be ready for an on-the-job training experience in diesel service and repair. Through shop manipulative practice in addition to related classroom instruction, the course covers operation and safety, electricity, intake and exhaust systems, starting methods, oil and gaseous fuels, tune-up and troubleshooting, engine rating and performance, and mechanical and hydraulic drives. Titles of the six terminal objectives are Orientation--Human Relations and Safety, Electrical System, Starting Methods, Power Trains, Brake Systems, and Chassis Components.
