Abstract
- In the article on due process in special education, the author elaborates on the due process requirements which the states have incorporated into their special education systems, discusses the due process requirements in the Education of All Handicapped Children Act (P.L. 94-142), relates these requirements to what the states have already done, and reflects upon some of the issues involved in designing a due process system which satisfies federal requirements and is educationally sound. It is concluded that no due process system will work unless the individuals who design and operate it are committed to the basic concept of the desirability of involving the parent and child in the decision-making process.
