Abstract

This paper surveys approaches that are deemed practical for instructional use of radios and computers by satellite transmission. For each of the two instructional technologies a brief history is provided, a survey of the evaluation studies of effectiveness is given, and a concluding section on planning for application is provided. Because the literature on these topics is extensive, an attempt is made to select for discussion items that are deemed of special importance or of particular use to field users. The paper concluded with some general recommendations for use of either instructional radio or computer assisted instruction by means of satellite transmission. A selected bibliography is appended to the paper. (Author)
