Abstract

A program designed to increase studnet interest and provide motivation in a third-year systems and measurements laboratory in mechanical engineering is provided. The philosophy of the course, instructional techniques, equipment design (including schematics and photographs), suggested activities, and student reactions to the course are presented. An elimination of much "black box" electronic equipment in favor of transparent, simple, yet functional, laboratory equipment is advocated. (CP)
