Abstract

The occupational analysis contains a brief job description, presenting for the occupation of medical assistant 113 detailed task statements which specify job duties (tools, equipment, materials, objects acted upon, performance knowledge, safety consideration/hazards, decisions, cues, and errors) and learning skills (science, mathematics/number systems, and communications). The 113 task statements are grouped under the following five duty headings: performing medical office management duties, completing business office duties, preparing and sterilizing instruments and supplies, assisting with clinical procedures, and performing basic laboratory procedures and diagnostic tests.
