Abstract

This document, a report of a seminar arranged by the Royal Belgian Society of Engineers and Industrialists, contains 35 papers illustrating the application of modern mathematics in engineering. There are eleven sections: Statistics, Operational Research, Boolean Algebra, Numerical Analysis, Eigenvalues, variations, Integral Equations and Applications of Mathematics to Hydraulics. Each section contains a paper by a specialist, generally a university professor working at the frontiers of knowledge in his field, followed by one or more examples of concrete application presented by users in industry or applied research. The result is a broadly representative view of different forms of modern mathematics as applied in the most varied domains. (Author/MM)
