Abstract

In this survey of the technology of film production, some applications to television are also discussed. Various chapters cover photography, sound recording and reproduction, studio production, film processing, duplicating methods, and final screen presentation. The equipment needed in film production is discussed in detail, including cameras, film stock, lights, and sound and printing equipment. The function of each piece of equipment and its general workings are described, and the fundamentals of professional practice are explained. However, technical electronic and mathematical detail is kept to a minimum so that the production executive, student, or creative artist, as well as the technician, will find it useful. Many simple diagrams and charts illustrate the text. (JK/MT)
