National Transportation Library Digital Curation Policy for the Repository and Open Science Access Portal (ROSA P)

Publication Year :
2024

Abstract

The National Transportation Library (NTL) Digital Curation Policy (Version 2.0) outlines the framework for preserving and managing digital transportation research and its outputs. It ensures long-term access to federally funded transportation research through the Repository & Open Science Access Portal (ROSA P). The policy covers acquisition, curation, technology systems, and preservation of digital information to ensure accessibility, interoperability, and reuse. NTL uses robust data curation workflows, adhering to standards like the FAIR principles, through their unique adaption of the Data Curation Network's CURATE(D) Steps. The policy also describes the use of persistent identifiers like DOIs, ORCID iDs, and ROR IDs to enhance the discoverability and attribution of research outputs. Preservation practices, including disaster recovery and format migration strategies are also described.
