Le illustrazioni di Apeles Mestres per il libro Liliana: uno studio artistico-espressivo e simbolico

With this article I intend to make an analysis of the work Liliana of Apeles Mestres, paying particular attention to the illustrations that the same author created for his poem. Starting by drawing a general picture of the development of art in storybooks, I will examine the style and techniques used by the Catalan artist and writer to enrich the masterpiece dedicated to his wife, a hymn not only to nature and respect for all living creatures but also to the two sister arts; poetry and art, which here takes the form of magnificent fairy-tale illustrations of an enchanted world waiting to be discovered.
Con questo articolo intendo fare un’analisi dell’opera Liliana di Apeles Mestres, prestando particolare attenzione alle illustrazioni che lo stesso autore realizzò per il suo poema. Tracciando dapprima un quadro generale dello sviluppo dell’arte nei libri di fiabe, esaminerò lo stile e le tecniche utilizzate dall’artista e scrittore catalano per arricchire il capolavoro dedicato alla moglie, un inno non solo alla natura e al rispetto di tutte le creature viventi ma anche alle due arti sorelle, la poesia e l’arte, che qui si concretizza con le magnifiche illustrazioni di un mondo incantato e tutto da scoprire.
Con este artículo se pretende hacer un análisis de la obra Liliana de Apeles Mestres, prestando especial atención a las ilustraciones que el propio autor creó para su poema. Iniciando el discurso con un panorama general del desarrollo del arte en los libros de cuentos, se examina el estilo y las técnicas utilizadas por el artista y escritor catalán para enriquecer la obra maestra dedicada a su esposa. Se trata de un himno no solo a la naturaleza y al respeto por todos los seres vivos, sino también a las dos artes hermanas, poesía y arte, tomando la forma de ilustraciones de cuentos de hadas de un mundo encantado que solo espera ser descubierto.
