Frequency-Hopping MIMO Radar-based Data Communications

This chapter introduces a recently conceived dual-function radar-communications (DFRC) system that exploits a frequency-hopping (FH) multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) radar to achieve a reasonably high-speed and long-distance data communication link. To promote the awareness and general understanding of the novel DFRC, its essential aspects, e.g. signal model and information embedding/demodulation, as well as some recent breakthroughs in timing and channel estimations are illustrated in detail.
