Abstract

Digital innovations have become preferred means to provide services in urban milieu. Thus, smart city concept has come to occupy an important place in the urban planning. Participatory practices remain central to the success of smart city initiatives. To understand the making as well as sustenance of smart cities we investigate the centrality of stakeholders’ knowledge, perception, and participation in the ongoing smart city conception and process of Chandigarh. Through this re- search we conclude that limited knowledge and participation of citizens in the smart city mission adversely impact the everyday services and the overall smart city experience.
