Abstract
- Polifonia develops novel ways of leveraging European cultural heritage to support humanities studies in music. This entails a broad range of activities spanning several domains and technology requirements, reflected on a breadth of research outputs that are both heterogeneous and strongly interconnected. This situation, typical of many large interdisciplinary research projects, such as the ones funded by the H2020 program, opens the challenge of collecting and organising these research outputs (data, software, and tools), to satisfy data management requirements, but allowing stakeholders to explore the wealth of outputs and, therefore, foster reuse beyond the project. We aim at addressing this challenge with a Research Ecosystem. This deliverable D5.7: Tool support for citing and annotating musical scholarly objects presents the results of Task 5 of Work Package 5: Publishing, accessing and reusing Musical Scholarly Objects, which aims at making available the wealth of assets of Polifonia for reuse and citation, studying novel methods for collecting and cataloguing research object and its metadata, and methods to enable its annotation describing how it was produced and used within the project activities, covering crucial aspects such as provenance and licensing information. The task aims at supporting the coherent presentation and the discovery of data, software, and resources relevant to future scholarly enquiries. This deliverable focuses on (open source) software, specifications, tools, and live systems implementing an ecosystem approach to research data management: the Research Ecosystem Framework (REECO). Crucially, we show its application to make available the wealth of assets of Polifonia pilots for citation and reuse: the Polifonia Ecosystem. Finally, we provide an overview of how citability is further supported in different ways by other solutions developed in Polifonia.
