Abstract

The final chapter provides a succinct summary of suggestions and priorities that may help close key knowledge gaps in researchers and further advance the field of animal migration studies. The authors revisit key topics, primarily focusing on (1) isotopic sampling, stable isotope and compound specific isotope analyses (2) different migratory systems including avian, insect, mammal and marine migratory systems (3) isoscapes and assignments and lastly the (4) linking of stable isotopes to other spatial markers. The book concludes by briefly touching upon the need to engage in more research to support important conservation efforts and thereby protect threatened migratory phenomena.
